Help Me / Re: Status Update don't provide seat of players ?
« Last post by jbleo on August 03, 2020, 04:23:47 AM »
ok thank you, I must have made a handling error when I tested the 'bustout' ...
But, because pausing the clock changes the duration of the current level,  I find unfortunate that this is not in the list of triggers,
this  does not allow to display a web-synchronized remote clock without going through a systematic cyclic update  !

Do you plan to include this in a future release, like player seats?

N.B .: Sorry for my poor writing in English but .... I'm French!

And thank you again for your good work  :) !

General Discussion / Re: Is anybody playing home games?

We started back up last week.  We do temp checks at the door and require everyone to hand sanitize anytime they get up from the table or accidentally touch their face and mouth, etc.  Our group size is always two tables or less, so the risk is fairly low for our group.

General Discussion / Re: A new barcode+thermal printer thread.
« Last post by JMBare on August 02, 2020, 11:30:44 PM »
Thought that I would add my own experience in this area...

I had been using the receipts features for several years now.  I had been using a conventional inkjet printer (an inexpensive HP that I got at Target for about $30 at the time) to print out receipt cards.  This method served me well, but I suppose the drawback was that I needed to replace the ink cartridges after a time, and that would get expensive.

I found this thread recently, and when my ink ran out yet again, I finally decided to go the thermal route.  I know the other posters here use the Epson TM-T20II, which is a great printer, but I found an inexpensive generic-type printer on Amazon for $35 with free shipping, which is probably less than I would have paid for the ink on the other printer (you might even be able to get the same printer on Ebay for less).  The receipts it prints are smaller in width than what the Epson prints, at 2 1/4 inches, but it's adequate for what I'm using them for.  I used the included receipt template and modified it slightly.

I already use a barcode scanner, and I give my members cards with a barcode on the back that I scan (the Gold cards are for charter members; the blue for everyone else).  The printer then prints the receipts with the table and seat info, and we're good to go.

As the OP mentioned, if you are on the fence regarding instituting this type of setup for your game, you should indeed go for it; even if you don't want to go the barcode scanner route, just having the printer with the table and seat info is helpful by eliminating the "What table am I at?" questions.

If I may ask, how do you print the player's cards?

Pausing/unpausing the clock won't trigger a status update - it's not considered a "significant" event.  Busting a player out does trigger an update.

Things that trigger an update: buy-in, add-on, rebuy, mark paid-in-full, bust-out, undoing any of those actions, adjusting rankings, chopping or editing existing chops, balancing the tables, advancing (or reversing) the current level, editing the schedule, prizes, or tables, and starting/ending the tournament.

Help Me / Re: Status Update ... more....
« Last post by jbleo on August 02, 2020, 07:02:28 AM »
Hello,

It seems that pausing the clock and restarting it doesn't trigger the status update, nor does a player 'bustout'.
This makes it necessary to use a cyclic update with a very short delay, costly in network resources and sometimes machine freeze generator.
Do you have an exhaustive list of events that trigger the status update? And do you think you can improve it ?
For info: I am still on version 3.4.3 because of the problem of transferring player places, which I also need ....

Thank you for your help

Help Me / Re: Tournament end at a specfic time
« Last post by Corey Cooper on July 21, 2020, 11:47:36 AM »
The way a tournament ends in the TD application is 1 (or zero) players remain.  You can't end it before that happens.  So to end the tournament, bust all remaining players out (or leave 1).

If you're looking at how to schedule a tournament to end at around a certain time, you can use the Rounds Suggestion tool.  That uses a common formula for determining the blinds that will generally force the tournament to end soon.  But to be honest, it doesn't create a great schedule.  You'll have to probably adjust the rounds a little bit after it's done.  There are also tools on the web that can generate a schedule for you, many that are admittedly probably much better than the TD's Rounds Suggestion tool.

The images are not altered.  They are stored in their original format.  Tthe image file is just copied to the DB folder and renamed.  Player info in the DB folder is stored in files named using the player's internal unique identifier.  Corresponding player images have file names with "-img" appended.

For example, a player info file might look like this:

1d6f80f2-b888-4987-a49e-a00cf95c44e8

Its corresponding image will be:

1d6f80f2-b888-4987-a49e-a00cf95c44e8-img

Thanks,
it works for backup. On the other hand I can not locate the photos by finding the directory. What format are they saved?
