Help Me / Central Database & More ?
« on: April 02, 2013, 09:20:52 PM »
Hi all,

It's been quite a while since i've been around these forums. Have moved on from running my poker league and have also moved on from running The Poker Leader board. But it is in good hands.

Now i'm just into web development it seems Poker Leagues are onto me.

I have a client looking to have me build their website for their poker league, and want it to integrate the leader boards automatically. Now I know I can do this with using The Poker Leader board.

The other thing he want is to have 2 separate computers running TD at different locations, and register players on the night as per normal. BUT then be able to sync from the web, a central database of players.

Is this possible? What is the method to do this?

Thank you in advance.

Help Me / Differing Exports for same format
« on: June 23, 2009, 06:25:10 PM »
Hi Corey,

As you know I use the XML export that suits Stats Genie currently.

When I finish a tournament my proceedure is to chop all players then move players up out of the chop for the ranks I want ranked. We don't rank every position.

the format is this:

Code: [Select]
<Player Name="Tom Harris" FirstName="Tam" LastName="" Rank="1" TournamentPts="100" Buyin="50" Rebuy="0" Addon="0" Payout="250" Knockouts="4" KnockoutRevenue="0" BountyCost="0" RoundOut="5" TimeOut="2009-06-22 23:10:21"/>
I have seen another file exported in the same manner that actually leaves out some info for the winner. like this:

Code: [Select]
<Player Name="Tom Harris" FirstName="Tam" LastName="" Rank="1" TournamentPts="100" Buyin="50" Rebuy="0" Addon="0" Payout="250" Knockouts="4" KnockoutRevenue="0" BountyCost="0" RoundOut="" TimeOut=""/>
Do you know why this would be?

Could it be because the players were busted out one by one? And therefore the final player was not busted out as he actually won?

Makes sense really, just want to confirm.

Suggestions / custom tourney export
« on: June 08, 2009, 10:04:45 PM »
Hi Corey,

I have been working putting together a joomla component to link tightly with your wonderful TD software.

I have been using the default export of the tournament to export the results and import them into my site.

I have noticed a few feilds that I personaly would like to export are not being exported. I know this is a personal preference thing.

Have you considered making the tourney export custimisable to include data currently left out?

I thought about contacting you and discussing setting up an export file to suit the component but thought why not discuss making it suitable for all.

In the settings you could have a section where you add or remove the feilds you want exported.

I would really like to export the Phone & Email of my players as I can then use these for newsletters etc. And having these automatically exported each time we run a tourney would be the nuts.

Templates, Layouts and Sounds / My Joomla Component - SP
« on: May 27, 2009, 07:54:31 PM »

Just showing the results of a joomla component I had created to work hand in hand with TD.

Compatible with Joomla 1.5

Without getting too technical, you simply login as admin and from within the component you browse for the default exported XML file and upload.

It uses all the data to add players to the database of the site and records points, ranks, final tables made etc.

The component tallies leaderboards according to venue & season. So you can play at more than one place and keep each leaderboard seperate as well as having an overall leaderboard.

It is fully self contained. There are still a couple of minor things we are working through, but all in all it's exactly what I wanted and very easy for everyone I work with to use.  -> Results

There is also a module that displays the leaderboard on the front page. (not yet published).

As mentioned before in another thread, I got a few ideas from here there and everywhere to put this together.

PS. Not many events have been added as yet. This just went live now.

Help Me / Guaranteed 1st prize?
« on: May 19, 2009, 02:30:25 AM »
I can see how to have a guaranteed pot, and a house contribution.

But how can we have a Guaranteed 1st prize set in the system ?

Example, $50 Buy-in, $100 Fixed Rake, Guaranteed $1000 1st, and use a % formula for all prizes.

I don't want it to be a one prize only either, I want all prizes to grow as players buy-in according to a set % formula we have set. BUT I want 1st prize to be $1000 guaranteed. And the house will simply make up the difference to the guaranteed prize.

I thought about having it as a set prize with no money value (but show it as $) and then just not show 1st prize on the display from the formula way. But their must be an easier way.

Suggestions / Pause countdown at start of tourney
« on: April 05, 2009, 08:51:05 AM »
I notice that we can set all rounds and breaks to pause the clock before of after each one. But we can't set the countdown to pause when it ends.

Can this be added please?

I like using the countdown, but have to manualy stop the clock when it ends for announcements pre tourney.

Help Me / Points / Forumla help
« on: April 03, 2009, 09:51:30 PM »
I'd like a simple forumla for the following points system please if someone with more know how can help.

1st: 20 * # of Players
2nd: 16  * # of Players
3rd: 14 * # of Players
4th: 11 * # of Players
5th: 10 * # of Players
6th: 9 * # of Players
7th: 8 * # of Players
8th: 7 * # of Players
9th: 6 * # of Players
10th+: 20 Points

If there is a way of determining the time they registered they could get a bonus 10 points for regoing 15+ mins before tourney start.

If there is a chop i'd like all players in the chop to get the lower places points.

For example, if top 5 chop, i'd like them all to get 5th place points not 1st's points.

I'm also interested in finding out how I can total these points towards season points too. I really dont have a clue how this works.

Can we export the season standings to html?

Help Me / Change Chop default values?
« on: April 01, 2009, 06:34:02 PM »

I'm trying to use the chop dialogue to bust out all players at the end of the tournament, and then assign the top X (9) positions.

When I click CTRL+C Everyone is listed as 1st, which is ok for most. Then I have to go and change everyone to last before setting 1st through to 9th.

Is there a way we can change the default chop position?

I'd like it to be =last not =1st.

Maybe this could be configurable, as a variable.

Help Me / Bust out all players
« on: March 12, 2009, 10:14:35 PM »
Is there a fast way to bust out all players?

We run tourneys with around 70 players and i'm looking to get the results exported to the web. Busting out every player one by one would add too much work for me while doing other stuff. I currently record the top 9 manually on a notepad.

I'd like to be able to bust out everyone except the top 9 then bust then according to rank.

Even if we had a "Check all" link on the bust out page then I could manually untick the top 9.

Any easier way to do this?

Help Me / Random player on Extended Display
« on: March 10, 2009, 09:22:40 AM »
I have been using TD for some time now but haven't really used any features beyond the basic ones.

I am now wanting to get into the advanced features etc.

anyway.. One thing i'd like to do is draw a random player when the final table starts and offer them a prize. I know how to do this, but is there a way I can show the randomised player on the extended display as a large text. So everyone can see?

Help Me / Few questions... can this be done?
« on: June 01, 2008, 06:42:08 AM »
We run some regular tournaments with 1 rebuy + 1 addon allowed per player max.

Currently we use TD but only have the blinds on the screen but would also like to have the prizes displayed on the screen. I know this can be done, but really don't know where to start.

We have 3 different formats that would need different prize structures the one with rebuys are the one i'd need most help with.

1 - set prizes regularly - this could be done easy enough.

2 - main event - set prizes depending on runners (i have a spreadsheet that handles these values) I'll link it here later so someone interested can have a try at creating a formula if they like.

3 - rebuys - We have $10 entry + $10 rebuy + $10 addon.

With 3, maximum is 1 rebuy + 1 addon per entrant.

We give the top 20% of players a $50 voucher (1 in 5 win these) and surplus cash goes into the cash pool that is generated by the rebuys and addons. All cash pool is split evenly among top 10% of players.

So is there a formula that would calculate 20% of entrants and award them $50 then as the rebuys and addons are entered it will increase the prizes for the top 10% ? can a formula also carry the surplus over?

43 players @ $10 buyin ($430)

top 8 players win $50 each ($400)

$30 carried over to cash pool which is shared evenly by top 10% which in this case is the top 4 players.

Any rebuy+addon cash will automatically grow the cash pool (top 4 players payout).

Not sure where to start with this...

Another question I have..

We have ordered membership cards with barcodes etc, so we can make things easier, I know we can use them as the ID and goto the add player / enter page and submit the players. But can these also be used to count rebuys ? For example, we scan a members card once, they are registered... then when it's scanned again it (or enter their number) it automatically detects it as a rebuy/addon ?

Is this asking too much, or can it be done already ?

Thanks in advance.

Help Me / Banning a player
« on: May 19, 2008, 10:04:14 PM »
We have a few players in our database and one that we'd prefer not to play.

As we have different TDs running the games we'd like to know if there is a way to "flag" a player as banned ?
