Title: My Joomla Component - SP
Post by: Johno on May 27, 2009, 07:54:31 PM
Hi,

Just showing the results of a joomla component I had created to work hand in hand with TD.

Compatible with Joomla 1.5

Without getting too technical, you simply login as admin and from within the component you browse for the default exported XML file and upload.

It uses all the data to add players to the database of the site and records points, ranks, final tables made etc.

The component tallies leaderboards according to venue & season. So you can play at more than one place and keep each leaderboard seperate as well as having an overall leaderboard.

It is fully self contained. There are still a couple of minor things we are working through, but all in all it's exactly what I wanted and very easy for everyone I work with to use.

http://www.satellitepoker.com.au  -> Results

There is also a module that displays the leaderboard on the front page. (not yet published).

As mentioned before in another thread, I got a few ideas from here there and everywhere to put this together.

Cheers,

Johno.

PS. Not many events have been added as yet. This just went live now.

Excellent stuff.

This is exactly what I am talking about can this be used for any joomla install, can the modules be purchased.

Barry from shark-stats if your watching this thread this is what I would like to see your shark-stats develop into i.e where I can use my own hosting package and site instead of being hosted on yours.

can this be achieved.

Excellent stuff.

I made sure they were designed to be installable on any joomla install for version 1.5 of joomla.

That being said they were developed for my personal preferences and use. But i'm looking at packaging them, and possibly offering them to other users. At this stage.. there are a few minor issues being ironsed out now we have a lot more data there.

Will keep you guys updated.

Hi just so you know there are other joomla users that would absolutley love this module to be available, id put two hands up! I have tried joomla league and joomla tracks with no real success in tracking weekly games as they are not suited to a  poker enviroment but yours with the ability to have the TD stats exported would be a complete bonus please please think about making it available id gladly donate via a paypal link for it!

I hope for this to be available to the masses soon. It's currently adapted to only my site, and is being made more generic as we speak.

Will keep you updated.

My guys have finished the css for it to make it generic for any template, just a few last finishing touches. Version 1 should be released by the end of the week.

In the future it will be expanded and new features added.

Althought there are plenty of features already. It has made a huge difference to my players, they love having their name and face on show.

We've just finished a universal module that allows you to show the top X players for dates selected by you.

They can be shown for either:

Top Points Scorer
Most Final Tables
Most Wins
Highest Average Score.

Live demo is on the SP website: www.satellitepoker.com.au

We have also created a version that will be able to fit any template. And the css will be editable.

We are just doing the final testing, and it should be available tomorrow or Sunday.

Cheers.

Update

Here is the site I created to offer support and take suggestions for the component & module.. http://www.lethalmedia.com.au/

Here's a 50% off code that will be valid for the 1st 24hrs.

Any questions or comments let me know.

Also there are support forums available on the LM site.

Thanks, i'll look into that.

The Component is what runs the leaderboard and results pages.
The Module adds the module blocks that show the top X players in different categories.
The Plugin enables the standard joomla search to index the results and leaderboards.

Forums should be working now on the LM (http://www.lethalmedia.com.au) site.

Thanks Robert.

I have started a Documentation page and will update it as I get time.

Have also replied there to your questions.

The bug is being addressed currently. It's a minor issue and will be fixed shortly.

Hey Johno, say we buy the modules now, and in a months time you refine a 'package', will us early buyers have to re-buy another copy, or will you keep us up to date for a period of time?

excellent work though, looks very promising...

Does it take much to get games ran through 888??? we have a league in regional NSW, that is starting to take off...

Cheers

All updates will also be sent to the email address of previous perchasers. Its pretty much at a stage where I want it to stay anyway. Only update that's really planned is including extra exported feilds when they become available.

I have your number, I can call you tomorrow to discuss 888 if you like.

Cheers.

Hi guys,

There's a known bug in our component that is being worked on currently, i'll advise when the fix is available.

It's due to the winner having no time or round out exported (not a TD issue but our mistake). The databse is looking for this data and when it doesn't find it it falls over. We are currently making this an unrequired feild.

I have disabled the cart at the moment and will email you all the files to fix this shortly.

This is due to how we end our tournament rather than busting everyone out one by one I guess. :(

Thanks Johno,
I edited the xml export and it has uploaded so i can vouch for the component working other than that.

Look forward to the fix!

The TD software will soon be able to export a custom format for this component.

It will include the export of:

Email 1
Email 2
ID
Address
city
state
zip
country
phone 1
phone 2
notes

The component will still support the stats genie export also for those who want basic export.

The LM export will use the ID as the unique identifier.

It will look for ID in the database for each player, if it is found then points will be added to the player with this id, if ID is not found it will search for player name  (NickName). If match is found - "Player A" it will automatically add their points and set the new ID for it.

I will advise when the transition is complete, but as mentioned it will support both exports.

mmmhhhh

35 $ for TD is a fair price.

For your components
50 $ + 20 $ + x $      too expansive  IMO

You got that wrong. This is hardly expensive. I have been looking for something like this for ages and whenever I got a quote to devleope something similar I always got quoted about £1500 - £2000!

Big Up

I use joomla 3 but the component isn't supported, the component was abandoned.

I have files that worked on joomla 2.5, which would update the component so that it can work under joomla 3

I would be happy to pay a premium for a joomla component version of TD, any chance of you picking this project back up?

Unfortunately I do not have enough experience to translate a joomla component from 2.5 to joomla 3.x, if someone wants to do it I want to give them the files.
