General Discussion / Re: Formula help
« on: March 02, 2009, 08:06:24 PM »
Yeah, you are probably testing it so what you need to do is in the finalTable slot change the 0 to a 1... 0 means that it is not final table whereas 1 means it is final table... mind you, once you put the one in everyone in the test will get final table points...

I think this little item should be on the to do list as a bit of a fix up... maybe in the test area you could be able to create a final table number... I don't think there is one now... I use final table in my formula and it would be cool for me  ;)

make sure to download the zip file and unzip it into the tournament director directory folder on your computer... this is normally c/:program_files/the tournament director

you may need to replace the background jpeg to one of the others in the thread so that it fits your screen properly... I'll explain that in a bit

Now you can open up the tournament director program and go to the Layout tab... on the left hand side is a bunch of buttons and one of them is labeled "Load"... click that and find the BPC_UltraDeluxe file... now you should be good to go

How to find what resolution will work best

On your computer desktop right click anywhere and select properties... select the Settings tab... there will be a box labeled Screen resolution with a slider going from Less to More and your resolution underneith... this is how you want your background Jpeg to be

if you only have 2 tournaments a year, what are you using the formula for? In my opinion, a formula is best used when you have a league and multiple tournaments where you are looking for the best players over time... A formula is for testing different aspects of the game. If you just have a couple games a year, formulas might not be a needed feature

However, if you feel you have a need for one, then this formula is a good formula.

(n-r+5) + switch(r, 1, 5, 2, 3, 3, 1) - 1 + .5 * nh

same formula, just a little bit condensed.

Number of players minus your rank plus 5 points

if your rank is third place you get an extra point, if you rank is second you get 3 point and if you get top dog spot you get a smacking 5 points

if you rebuy you get a point taken away and if you take someone out you get a half a point

(n-r+5) + if(r==3, 1, 0) + if(r==2, 3, 0) + if(r==1, 5, 0) - nr-1 + .5*nh

aye... I think there is a certain amount of responsibility here that is on the tournament director's (not the program but the person's) shoulders here...

I think its a cool idea all around, and that if you get first you earn those points... but if you said you don't get points earlier then thats the way it should be... if our group came across this, we would vote as a group how they felt about it or at least brought it up at the next season

just a suggestion:

if you find that you use the same tournaments over and over without changing blinds and chips and stuff then you can save that tournament as a default tournament... Go to the preferences tab and select the Config Files control on the left hand side... the first couple options is use the internal, blank tournament or use tournament file... select use tournament file and put your tournament file you have made without any players in it yet... now everytime you open TD it will open this tournament... when you select autosave it will ask you what you want to call it... now as long as the players don't call it as an existing tournament then you are good... I use the day's date for saving all my files, easy to find and sort as well as being unique (unless you are running more than one tournament a day, then you are hooped and have to find a better way =)

On the main game tab in the window Points for Playing, copy and paste this formula:

(n-r+26) + if(finalTable=1, 10, 0) + (10*nh) - (5 * nr) + switch(r, 1, 50, 2, 35, 3, 20)

Help Me / Re: Dual Screen to a TV and Video card help...
« on: January 17, 2009, 05:15:45 PM »
yes it is possible... you will need a video card with s-video out and a s-video splitter such as this: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=493096&CatId=451

Any video cards that came out within the last few years should have s-video out... I think I bought a Nvidea card for around $50 just for the s-video out...

Load up your finished tournament and click on the summery tab... that should show you everything that happened
If you are looking for stats you can go to the stats tab, fill in the filter information and click refresh tournaments and if you filter it correctly it will show you the stats... here you can filter in a series of tournaments or all your tournaments to see stats such as hits, money a player put in, how much they won, how many times they got first second or third and a whole wack more... you may have to select some extra stats because not all stats are selected by default

what do you mean by a video plug out in the back of your tv?

you need RCA cables with video... the question is what can you do for outs on your laptop? if you have s-video out you may need something like this: http://www.svideo.com/rcatosvideo.html

now this is strictly video only, no audio so you will need another cable to run audio... you can run audio out through your headphone jack and you will need something like this: http://www.shoptronics.com/sthe3pltodur.html

now I am NOT advertising for the pages I posted, you can buy these cables at any electronics store... I just picked them cuz they were first on google and had a pic

If you have a different video out then snap a pic of what kind of output it is and I'll find the right cable for ya
