Help Me / Re: Locking Seats and Table collapse
« on: November 29, 2010, 12:54:10 PM »
Nothing wrong with the software Corey, my mistake. my cock up.
I rechecked  and rechecked this and found that I had eliminated a player out of the tournament before he should have been, by mistake earlier on,He had not been knocked out. .
When he was finally eliminated it was then i realised i had knocked him out earlier (by mistake) than he should have been. I did not adjust his position finished as there were no points to be won.
That is the only thing that i can see that could possibly had such an effect.

Sorry for any bother this has caused

yes the boxes was checked.   With the collapse box open. I had put tables 6,5,4,3,2 in the left hand pane and in the right hand pane i only had Table 1. I Had both boxes checked. I have ran a couple of mock tournaments to try and duplicate this problem , but I have been unable torecreate it. this was the only time it had happened.
It was no big problem as i just didn't tell anyone to move. I ignored the suggested move and manually dragged everyone back to the correct table. Kept an eye on it and it went forward as it was supposed to with table 1 being the final table.
cheers

Help Me / Locking Seats and Table collapse
« on: November 25, 2010, 08:01:26 AM »
i have just ran a small tournament. with 35 players. We had 6 tables of 8 seats.
I was playing in the tournament. So I locked my self into seat 1 on table 1. Because this was the nearest table to the computer and electric points.
I had the table collapse order set so that table 5 would finished first then, 4,3,2 and lastly table 1.
Soon 3 were eliminated, down to 4 tables of 8 players so Table 5 was eliminated first. Then we lost 3 players.
Then i was in a hand and knocked out 4 people out in one hand.
When I eliminated the players from the game.
The suggested movements came up and it had moved everyone from table 1. Including myself. I had been moved to seat 1 table 3. There was still a locked sign next to my name.
any idea of why it split table 1, any idea of why it moved me?
thanks in advance

Help Me / Re: Finding when the final table will be made
« on: November 21, 2010, 08:28:38 AM »
There's no real HUGE effect that I've noticed - it would cause some people to play more loose, but others would play more tight. As far as paying the bounties, I don't think it'd matter either way, and I personally like the idea of a presentation style at the end.

Mike

Many thanks for your input. appreciate it. Its set to run in the New Year. will post my afterthought on how it turns out.
again thank you

Help Me / Re: Finding when the final table will be made

My question is why have break 4 be 40 min long when the others are just 8 min long.  I can understand a longer break to a point, but I'd probably go more towards 20, 25 min personally. I think it's a decent structure otherwise, perhaps a little long on the blinds length, but then again, that's just my personal preference. Odds are, though, I think you'd have no issues with being done by 10.
[/b]

Sorry. I should have mentioned that the 40 minute break is for a buffet provided by the venue, where the game is being held.

The venue have been good enough to let me run it there, obviously they expect to make some money from drinks sales. So I want people to stay the distance. So i have tried to give a game where people will not be under pressure early on, and that's why I have given them 200 big blinds starting stack. There will be 1 table sit and go's for those who get eliminated early on.

One other concern is what effect, if any,  having a bounty hunter will have on the tournament, Will it make it too fast?

Also I was going to withhold all the prizes until the end of the tournament and then have a presentation to the prize winners. Along with a couple of trophies. Is that a good idea? Or should i pay the bounties out as and when they occur?

Many thanks for the quick reply and the advice, much appreciated.

Help Me / Finding when the final table will be made
« on: November 18, 2010, 05:12:13 AM »
I will shortly be running a freezeout/bounty tournament

  • 64 players maximum, each with 10000 starting stack.
  • total chips in play 640,000
  • 8 * 8-seater tables.

I have attached a copy of the blind levels as a jpeg file

The tournament will start at 12:30 and i want it to finish no later than 10:00pm.

What i would like to know is there someway of calculating
  • when the final table will be reached?
  • what the small and big blinds will be at the final table
  • How long will the final table last?
What do others think of this structure?
  • Is it to tight/loose
  • Will it turn into an all in fest?
I would be very obliged if someone can look at this for me and give me there thoughts and any suggestions
Many thanks in advance

Suggestions / Points
« on: October 27, 2010, 07:26:37 AM »
If you are running different leagues, different games.  The points structures that you use may need to be different. As you already have some place to save images, templates etc.

Why not set up a way to  save the current point systems  from within the points for playing section into a dedicated save folder.

General Discussion / Leagues
« on: October 27, 2010, 05:44:53 AM »
Running 2 separate  leagues, one on a Tuesday and one on Friday. These are 10 week leagues.
not all players play in both leagues.
each person plays £2.00 a week for  each league.
Now we are going to run a separate league ( over 12 months) comprising of both leagues, to buy into casino games. (this will cost members an extra £2.00)
Comprising members from both nights.

However not every body plays in both leagues and not every one wants to be in the casino league
Is there any way of setting this up. so that when running a tournament, we can allocate points to both leagues at the same time.
hope any one who reads this understands what i mean.
thanks in advance

Thanks for the quick reply Stuart,

I want to make this a tournament so that it will help the weaker players, but not too much.

I want players to stay in the place as one of the reasons we got the room was because the manager wants people in and not leaving as soon as they get beaten.

How can i strengthen it. may be have the first 3 -4 levels at 30 minutes and then the next 4 at 25 and then the rest at 20 minutes. would that work better?

I had been told that having antes would just mean that there are less hands played.

if the bb blind is at 5 % of chips in play that would mean the FT would be around about level 20/21 with an average stack on FT of 80,000 then, would it not turn into a all in "fest"?

When you say "the structure your using to achieve final table at around the 4k/8k level". Do the antes make that much difference?

Wouldn't the inclusion of antes, just make the middle stages very fast?

thanks in advance

Running a tournament soon. Freezeout with a bounty on each head
Max players 64
starting stack 10,000 8 seat tables
Set to run 8.5 - 9.5 hours. fairly strict finish time.

I have attached a picture of the blind levels i have chosen. Can you tell me what u think of this blind structure and the length of the levels, breaks etc

Has anyone got any experience of a freezeout/bountyhunter and its effects on a tournament.

Does it speed it up or down, the number of players leaving the game. and what effects that would make to the finish time.  ???

with 640,000 chips in play. looking at an avge stack at  FT will be 80, 000.

At what levels should the final table be reached?

I was looking at Final Table blinds to be :- SB 2000 - BB 4000 giving an average of 20 Big blinds
I hope that you can all understand what i want to achieve.

Many thanks in advance

Thank you.
I will no doubt be asking for lots and lots of help. I can see from the posts that you all seem be very helpful to newcomers.

Hopefully one day i might be in a situation where i will able to help answer a query or help solve a problem, however trivial.

I realise that many of the questions i have may already have been asked and answered in previous posts so i am at the moment going through past posts. And there are a lot of them, I think i have just finished 2006.

let me just thank you all in advance for the answers that you will no doubt be providing for me in future times

Help Me / Re: Additional points for final Table
« on: October 15, 2010, 04:49:48 AM »
Many Thanks Corey,
Its been years since i did maths as complicated as this. I printed off the Help files because i understand things better through the written word rather than a screen.
I had worked out the very first part, but the rest was way above my head.
You have no doubt saved me from getting a severe headache.

On a side note, just ran a tournament with 48 players. Hooked it up to a projector which was thrown onto a 12ft area on a white wall. The program ran great everyone was very impressed with the program.
The only problem for me was when i was moved tables away from the computer. Yup! i had forgotten to lock myself in place and set the collapse of the tables. But that was my fault! Still you live and learn.
The most time saving part i found (on the day)  was that the program worked out the prize money to the penny no more sitting there working out percentages. I found that i was able to concentrate on the game a lot more.
This program is a godsend for any one who runs tournaments.
I have read many posts, learning of what can be done and as i said in another post. I feel as if i am just scratching the surface.

Once again many thanks for your help and "The Tournament Director"

Help Me / The more i read

The more i realise that i have just scratched the surface of the Tournament Director.
Only had it a few weeks and only ran a couple of tournament. worked great.
Just messing about has helped me to learn a lot of thing that i didn't even think could be done.

Nearly getting the basic formulaes right.
But i would like to see how others have done things.
Has anyone done any videos that show how things are done.
Like
* events
* tokens
* alter layouts
*design logos
 etc

Many thanks
