Help Me / Players in League Export
« on: March 10, 2021, 03:13:18 PM »
Hi folks! I was wondering if there is a way to export all the leagues a player is a member of?

I can export the desired details for all players but don't see an export for a league's members.

Thanks!

Help Me / TD Re-Export to StatsGenie Issue
« on: April 14, 2019, 01:17:52 PM »
I recently had a need to re-export a tournament into StatsGenie.
What happened was I had used the wrong buy-in profile for a player (player bought a bounty but I used no bounty profile) and the error was not noticed for a few days.
Once noticed, it was an easy fix in TD via 'Edit <player>'  on the Players tab then 'Edit Buy-in' under the History section.
Now all data looks correct in TD and the Summary tab correctly reflects the player's bounty purchase.
Next, I exported the tournament like always from TD and that was successful.

My first question was if TD would over-write the existing tournament?
When I checked on SG, I only saw one entry for the tournament so looked like over-write was successful but when I checked the History in SG, it still showed the player as using a non-bounty profile.

I then deleted the tournament from SG and re-exported from TD again.
When checking on SG, the tournament still showed the player as using a non-bounty profile under history.
All the other tabs looked fine though; the bounty purchase was reflected and the player's take for the game was correct.
I don't know if the other tabs were correct at the first re-export as I didn't check them at the time since I still saw the issue with the incorrect profile under sumarry.

I was able to edit the history in SG so I'm fine now, but I guess I'm asking if there is a bug in the TD export pertaining to the summary tab when a tournament is re-exported or is this something on the SG side that didn't update the history when the tournament was re-exported?

That's a whole lot of detail for what is probably a minor issue   ;)  but if it's something that can be fixed, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

Help Me / Rounding bug?
« on: January 03, 2016, 01:55:09 PM »
Not sure if this is a bug or if I'm doing something wrong but it looks like the prize rounding is incorrect in a couple of the attached screen shots.
#1 is without rounding to show the base payout
#2 is round down to nearest .25 and looks wrong
#3 is round down to nearest .50 and looks correct
#4 is round down to nearest .75 and looks wrong

Not a big deal at all; I just happened to notice it when I was playing around with changing our prize structure for 2016 season

Help Me / Calculation for hits under stats is not correct
« on: December 02, 2012, 01:16:28 PM »
I've just noticed a problem where the hits listed under stats is not properly showing shared hits.
When a hit is split between 2 players it appears that the number is rounded up to a whole number for each player sharing the hit under stats.

At first I thought my issue was similar to the topic below regarding chops but after reading it a couple of times I think my issue is different as there is not a chop involved.
http://www.thetournamentdirector.net/forums/index.php?topic=3589.msg17211#msg17211

In my case, we are using a points for playing formula as follows:
((n-r)+1)+(if(r=1 and m,n*.4,0)+if(r=2 and m,n*.2,0)+if(r=3 and m,n*.1,0)+if(r=4 and m,n*.05,0)+if(r=5 and m,n*.025,0)+if(r=6 and m,n*.0125,0))+nh*2
So basically, a point for playing, a point for every player you outlast, 2 points for a KO and some extra points if you make the money.

I've been using the above formula for a couple of years without incident. I just noticed the discrepancy today as I was exporting stats from last nights tournaments.
I have a couple of players in our league that have a shared hit in the past and they did not play last night so when I looked at their totals in stats today, the points have increased.
Also, another player that did play and also shared a hit in the past but had no KO's last night shows an increase in hits from the last time he played (was 67.5 hits before but stats now shows 68 hits)

I have "points precision" under preferences > currency / numbers set to 2 and "show hits using whole numbers" is not enabled.

I can really see it pretty easy with one player that has only played 2 tournaments. She made 16 points in one tournament (5th place of 14 players and 3 KO's so 1 point for playing, outlasted 9 players + 6 points for 3 KO's). Her next tournament she got 11 points (6th place of 13 players and 1.5 KO's so 1 point for playing, outlasted 7 players + 1 KO + 1 shared KO) for a total of 27 points.

When I look at her player statistics in stats under "player income" it shows her receiving 16 points for the first tournament (correct) and 12 points for the second tournament (incorrect).

I've not changed any settings in TD that I'm aware of that might have caused this. The only thing that I can think of that has changed is a patch that was applied in the last week sometime but it does not appear to be related at all per the patch description. I'm running 3.1.1, patch 4

I can send you any of my tournaments if you think it might help to clarify what I'm describing or maybe someone has a suggestion that I might investigate.

Thanks all ! !

Hi All,

I've been running TD3 successfully for some time (as well as TD2 prior to that) in a Win XP virtual environment (VirtualBox 4.1.16 running on a Suse 12.1 host).
This environment has my data store located on the Suse /home directory which XP sees as a mapped "S" drive.
I run my tournaments from my laptop then copy the tournament files to S:\The Tournament Director 3\Data\saves" then use the XP VM to do all my exports to StatsGenie. This is working great but I'm trying to move into the new century and use Win 7.

I recently created a Win 7, 32 bit VM and am in the process of moving to it from the XP VM.

When I install TD3 (trial right now but I do have a TD3 license) into the Win 7 environment I used the default install path of "C:\Program Files\The Tournament Director 3\" .
When I initially launch TD, it creates the default data store at "S:\The Tournament Director 2\Data\".
I'm not sure why it is creating a TD2 path at all. I uninstalled TD3 then reran the install with the S drive unmapped but got the same result and since it is not an accessible drive I get an error if I try to access the data store from within TD - "S:\The Tournament Director 2\Data\ refers to a location that is unavailable....".

I can create a new data store that points to my TD3 files but cannot remove the TD2 related data store.

Not really a big deal but just trying to better understand where the TD2 reference is coming from.

If I've been vague in describing my situation please feel free to ask anything that might help clear the air.

Thanks!

Help Me / MSHTA,EXE at 100% CPU
« on: May 02, 2010, 03:29:26 PM »
Wondering if anyone else is seeing the above problem? I first starting noticing it several weeks ago.
I'm running TD for my tournaments on a Lenovo Y510 laptop with a Pentium dual core T2330, 4 GB RAM.
This was an Windows XP Pro SP3 environment until recently when I did a clean install of Windows 7 Pro.
I also run TD on my desktop in a Suse Linux 11.2 hosted Windows XP SP3 VirtualBox machine.
I've ran this combo for some time without incident until recently.

Now I'm seeing the TD screen just hang and the clock stop counting.
The problem is sporadic and since I'm seeing it on both machines I'm inclined to think it's related to some MS update I've applied but I'm not really sure.

Today I was trying to dig into it a little deeper and what I've noticed on my desktop is that if I cycle through the various screens using the function keys then the CPU usage drops to 15-20 % overall and ~10% for the mshta.exe process on all the screens except the regular tournament screen. Once I hit F2 then the CPU usage jumps up 100% overall and 75-95% for mshta.exe. At this point the tournament clock either runs really slow stops for 5-10 seconds at a time (or longer).

Not really sure what to try to do to fix the problem. Some of the Google searches for mshta.exe suggested changing the priority for the process from Normal to Realtime but I've tried changing to Realtime and Low but it did not seem to help any.

Any thoughts or suggestions out there?

Thanks!

Help Me / Bounty - Need to split between 2 players
« on: September 13, 2009, 01:36:41 PM »
Looking for confirmation that there is no way in TD to split a bounty between 2 players. If not, then does anyone have an imaginative way to work around the situation?

In last night's tourney there was a situation where player A w/Bounty (unfortunately, me  :() was knocked out by bounty players B and C who both had the same hand (and obviously, more money than player A).

Our rules state that in this situation, KO points go to the player with best position (closest to button CCW), player B in this case, so that is who has the official KO and points but we have only been using bounties recently and the above situation was not accounted for. Since the KO went to player B he also received the bounty money in TD but I actually split it among the 2 players and would like to reflect that in TD but don't see that I can edit the bounty money won.

Am I missing something easy or any way you guys can think of to accomplish this? Thanks for any insights!!

General Discussion / Bounty on player question
« on: January 25, 2009, 02:53:34 PM »
Just wanted to throw out a question about a player bounty.

This year for our league we are giving extra points during regular season play to the player that knocks out last years TOC winner (which just happens to be me!  ;D)
The thought was that this would be points that both others could earn and that I could not receive.
What I did was create a non-monetary Bounty on Player prize giving 2 points to whom ever knocked me out.
This worked cool for the first 4 games but I won the 5th game and was expecting that prize to be 0 points since no one knocked me out.
Instead TD gave me the 2 points so I had to manually change the points to 0.

I can kinda understand the logic; the prize says give 2 points to the hitman but there was not a KO on me so the points have to go some where?
It's no big deal to make the override either. Just wondering what you guys thought about the situation?

If I had not already stated to the league that this was points I could not earn then it would be no big deal.
And obviously this only happens when I take 1st place (which I hope to be often  :D).

Help Me / Modify knockout time?
« on: August 26, 2007, 06:31:50 PM »
Last night's tournament needed to be edited to fix a knockout that was not recored at the proper time. I've unbusted, re-busted in correct order, and manually modified the correct bustout round but am unable to locate where (if possible) that I can modify the actual bustout time. Is this possible? As it stands, I have player A busted out in round 1, player B busted out in round 2, player C busted out in round 3 but all within a 5 min span. No big deal but would like to correct if possible.

Thanks!

General Discussion / How do you handle a slow player?
« on: June 19, 2007, 05:38:36 PM »
Just wondering how others handle a consistently slow player during tournament play?    >:(

We have 1 or 2 players that no matter the level or bet amount, will always take WAAAAYYYYY TOOOOO LOOOOOONG on their action.

I know TD has a built-in hand timer but normally there is no one dedicated to controlling the laptop.
I usually try to sit close to it to handle bust-outs and seat moves, etc. but don't think the built-in timer would be convenient.
Any one know of any small timers that could be placed at the table(s) that are easy to reset quickly or have any suggestions???

Thanks!

Help Me / Error in points on Stats tab
« on: January 28, 2007, 05:22:14 PM »
Hi Corey,

Think I may have found a bug in how the stats tab calculates total points?? Been using the software for over a year now without problems but we've just started using a "Points for playing" formula this year. We used Excel last year and calculated every thing there so don't know if this existed already.

Here is my situation.
The "Points for playing" formula, when tested, displays the correct total points earned for a given player. When I export the tournament to StatsGenie the correct points are exported. Actually, thats why I noticed an anomaly. As I was comparing point totals there to what the Stats tab showed in TD there was a difference. Closer checking seems to show that the point differences are related to any tournament that gives points to 5th position (if in the money).

Here is the formula I use:
((n-r)+1)+(if(r=1 and m,n*.4,0)+if(r=2 and m,n*.2,0)+if(r=3 and m,n*.1,0)+if(r=4 and m,n*.05,0)+if(r=5 and m,n*.025,0)+if(r=6 and m,n*.0125,0))+nh*.5

As you can see, each position gets a bonus if "in the money". The differences I'm seeing are exactly the bonus amount calculated for 5th place when in the money. We have not paid out 6 positions so don't know if that is a problem or not. I went through and compared total points in TD Stats to Statsgenie for every player and the only difference is the 2 tournaments I've had that paid 5 places. All players points who were in the money for 1-4 positions seem to be fine.

Here's an example:
Player Joe has played 6 tournaments. StatsGenie shows 81.78 total points. TD shows 81.2 on the "Stats" tab. The difference is exactly this players point bonus for his 5th place money win (23 players start, Joe was 5th and knocked out 1 player) - 23*.025=0.58 (.575 rounded up to 0.58).  81.78 - 81.2=0.58.

If you need any more info or need any of my game files just let me know. I'm glad to help any way I can.

Thanks!

Craig

General Discussion / Procedure Question
« on: December 15, 2006, 09:37:25 PM »
We had a couple of situations occur recently that I'd lake to run past you guys for input.

First was we had a situation where, due to us using a moving button and several players getting knocked out on one hand we were left with three players remaining that were all big blinds. My question is how to post the blinds on the next hand? It has to be 3 small blinds correct? You can't force a player to be the BB twice in a row??

Next was, in a heads-up situation, one of the players was all-in so both hands were exposed and no more betting action. The dealer exposed the next burn and river card as he was dealing the turn card. Normally, with action to come, we would finish the turn card action then shuffle the exposed burn and river card back into the stub, then NOT burn, and deal the river so that the exposed river had a chance to come back out. Since there was no betting being done is this still necessary? My vote was to maintain procedure and shuffle the stub but I was outvoted by the other members who said that there was no action to affect and that if the stub was shuffled it would give the all-in player an unfair advantage by getting to see another card. What do you guys think???

Thanks!

Help Me / Auto-Save Function Question
« on: October 10, 2006, 04:08:55 PM »
I had an incident during a tournament the other night where TD crashed during play.  >:(  Actually, not TD I think but IE, don't remember the exact error, just wanted to get going again.
I restarted from my last save which, unfortunately, was at the beginning of the tournament. We got a consensus on who was knocked out by whom and resumed play to finish. For the remainder of the tourney I was saving manually pre and post of knocking a player out.

I knew there was an auto-save feature but for the life of me could not find it!  ???

Next day I reran the tournament to more closely reflect the actual playing time and did then see where to enable the auto-save function. (Also saw that "Q" would do a quick-save. I'd been going to "Game" tab and clicking on "Save". You'd think I'd have seen the "Auto-save" box then!    :-[)

My question is, what actually triggers a save?
I have the "How often to auto save" timer set to 120 seconds on the "Preferences" tab and the "Auto save" option enabled on the game tab.
The bubble help for this option shows "When checked, your tournament will automatically be saved every 60 seconds (if necessary). See the preferences page to change how often the tournament is saved."

So what constitutes "necessary"?

Can the save triggers be configured any where?

I've ran like a 100 tournaments prior to this without a hitch so my confidence level is still extremely high but just want to be able to save my butt in case it happens again (1000 tournaments down the line!   :) )

Thanks in advance for any help!

Help Me / Formula Validation Please
« on: June 16, 2006, 07:51:31 PM »
Hi gang!

We are wanting to assign the following points:
1 point for playing
1 point for every player knocked out before you
1/2 point for every hit you give
Bonus to 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions of .3, .2 and .1 respectively times number of starting players.

Here is the formula I'm using which seems to work fine for the several tests I ran but was wondering if there is an easier or more elegant way to achieve the results.

((n-r)+1)+(if(r=1,n*.3,0)+if(r=2,n*.2,0)+if(r=3,n*.1,0))+nh*.5

Thanks for any input!!

Craig
