We might make a change next season where we only count the ten best scores (out of maybe 13-14), so I'm already looking into how I would track that in TD, but maybe Stats Genie would help with that also. Thanks.
We only count top 6 out of 10 and StatsGenie takes care of that automatically as well.

Interesting that you let people decide to count a tournament after they know how they've done.

Serves as an incentive to join, especially later in the season.  And they aren't necessarily deciding to count the tournament; they are deciding whether or not to become a dues paying member of the club.

Guest do not earn points in our league either, but if they join within 30 days after their visit, we will count the points they would have earned for the tournament they attended.  To do this, everyone earns points in Tournament Director.  Then, I export the tournaments to StatsGenie.  Then, I mark guest users on StatsGenie as inactive, and they do not show up on StatsGenie stats.  If that guest joins, I just mark them active again and all is good.   Exporting to StatsGenie is super easy, and does a tremendous job of tracking information.

We are entering our 4th year using TD and StatsGenie--I would not be running this league were it not for the time-saving capabilities of these two tools.

Here we go!

Champion bracelet, from Irondog.us -- $18.  As has been stated, excellent product--excellent service.

Champion trophy, a bit more conservative than what we did last year.  12" metal cup, base cost was about $37 plus a small surcharge for extra engraving and shipping brought the total to $47.75 from Crown Awards.  Note, there was a blemish on the back of the base of this trophy and they are sending out a replacement to arrive before our event for no additional charge and no questions asked--great service!

Player of the Year award is once again a custom 1 oz silver card guard from PokerGuard.com, and once again it is absolutely stunning.  I am the lucky recipient of this award this year and I could not be more pleased, as I was so impressed with it last year.  $45 plus shipping brings it to $51.95.

It is always fun to have a 'First Out' award, and this year I found this amusing bobble horse's rear.  From Trophies2Go.com and base price was $13.30.  I was quite impressed they could add our logo to the plate for this price.  It is important to note that they have a $15 minimum order requirement and will charge $15 for any order less than that.  However, a quick search of the site revealed a pink 1st out pin for $1.75 that put me over the requirement and I didn't throw money away.  Shipping brought the total to $25.11.

I just order my third bracelet from Irondog as well for our 2008 Championship in December.  I told you they had great service!

I have also ordered my other trophies for the year, and I'll post pics and details of all when they arrive.

I like the bracelet idea, but I think the silicone ones have faded away in popularity.  Moose...How did your guys like the metal bracelet?  Any ideas would help.

I agree about the silicone bracelets, and he are not doing that this year.  I won the first one and I like it a lot.  Our winner last year also seemed happy with it.  There are fancier bracelets but I do not think anyone is wearing a bracelet on a regular basis and would rather put the extra money into the prize pool.  However, the card guards get used often so I do not mind spending the extra money on those.

Thought I would revive this topic, and include the trophies we had last year.

Player of the year:

Was about $45 and worth every penny--beautiful!  I am looking forward to winning this one for myself this year.  As brenner said, the pictures do not do these justice.  From http://www.pokerguard.com/

Champion:

Went a bit over the top with this trophy, but it was a beauty.  Was $75 and a complete custom designed trophy from http://www.besttrophiesonline.com

Also for the champion:

I think we will always do one of these--custom artwork and durable for only $18!  From http://www.irondog.us/

First Out:

Cheap resin trophy.  Cost $15 from http://www.abcgiftsandawards.com/ (They have a decent selection of poker trophies)

If the person offered does not want to cut, the dealer self-cuts in our league.  We use cut cards though, so that make a difference.  ;)

Most Plasma's and LCD do have standard VGA monitor and DVI inputs.  However, you'll need a video signal splitter if you are using multiple TV's with one PC.  Something like this:  http://www.networktechinc.com/vsplt-pc.html#

Good luck!

Suggestions / Re: Player Club Membership

Put me on the list of 'people this feature would benefit', as we have 40 dues paying members.  I currently use the Notes field to keep track of players that have paid dues and when, but something more dedicated would be better.

Perhaps the Notes field could be enabled to be renamed or create other customizable fields in the database.  ???

General Discussion / Re: How do you handle a slow player?

As a group we have agreed that if anyone thinks that someone is taking too long, anyone at the table can call "clock" and then count down 30 seconds, and if he counts down to 0 then the hand is folded

We've done similar.  At the last tournament, I made a couple of simple announcements before we got started that seemed to greatly improve speed.

"Remember: Please pay attention to the game so that when the action is on you, you do not unnecessarily delay the game."
"Remember:  When you are dealing, it is your responsibility to keep the game flowing smoothly."

Just to post a follow-up, our league ran a lottery ticket game last month as a special non-scored tournament.  We only had 16 players because of the timing (most people thought it was a fun idea).  Each player bought in $10 in cash and $10 in KY scratch of lottery tickets.  That gave us a prize pool of $260 (the club contributed $100) and $160 in scratch-off tickets.  Unfortunatly, at the end of a lengthly scratching session, the winner of the tickets added just $35 to his cash winnings.

All it all, it was still a lot of fun, and we may do it again next year.
