Help Me / Re: Stats dont show after update

Nevermind.  I think I found that the pref.sav file needed to be moved over to the My Documents folder as well.  You might add this to the FAQ though Corey.

Help Me / Re: Stats dont show after update

Similar but different problem as above.  I did the update on Thursday and ran a tournament last night.  I moved all the files per FAQ #7 but I am missing all of my stats formulas.  A little help please.  Thanks

My guess is that Dave is looking for a way for the player who took 2nd who is not in the league to not get any points for playing and the person who takes 3rd that is in the league to get points as if he took second place.

Dave, I don't see an easy way to do that other than adjusting the ranks after the tournament is over.  You adjust the guy in 2nd's rank so he ends up in last place and that should bump everyone else up and then you'll have to do some manual adjustments to the winnings.

I have run into basically the same thing in my league where a player has been banned from the remainder of the season mid-way through because of rules I have regarding cancellations and no-shows.  I don't want him to show up as having points and I since he "doesn't exist" anymore, I want all the points adjusted for the tournaments he already played in.

Help Me / V2.5 stats
« on: March 23, 2008, 11:40:48 PM »
Corey,

When I change the column names in the stats, it will not save the changes so every time I reload the program, it defaults back to the standard names.  The previous version seemed to have kept the changes to column names.  Not a huge deal obviously, but thought I should mention it.

Suggestions / Re: Identification Check
« on: January 16, 2008, 06:40:34 PM »
How about using the ID field and then just choosing to show the ID field on the players tab?
It's certainly not a one-off and is already there for you to use.  It's not a drop down or check box, but it is a text box that you can simply type an "X" into or they whole ID # if you so choose.

Help Me / Re: Bounty questions
« on: January 16, 2008, 03:37:08 PM »
that's fine and that's what I figured, but is there maybe a way to set it as an automatic prize (in the xml) based on the total # of players.  I'll know how many bounties there will be ahead of time, but we won't have any idea how many players and I don't really want to have to remember to do that since I'm sure I'll be plenty busy.  My normal monthly tournaments almost run themselves anymore since people have been coming for 2 1/2 years and they just know what to do.  This one will be filled with a bunch of newbies.

Help Me / Bounty questions
« on: January 16, 2008, 02:50:29 PM »
I'm running a tournament for a friend in a couple of weeks and have been playing around with bounties, but I can't seem to make it work the way that I want it to.

Basically, it's a $60 buy-in tournament plus a $10 bounty fee.  It's a benefit event, so 1/2 of everything collected will be raked so I set it up with a $30 rake for the buy-in and $5 rake for the bounty fee.  The remaining $30 of the buy-in will go into the prize pool and the $5 left from the bounty fee will be going into what I would call the "bounty pool".

The benefit is for a kids baseball team and they are going to have some pro-sports celebrities there.  They want to make it so if a player knocks out one of the celebrities or one of the coaches, then they will get paid a bonus prize.  The bonus prize will be whatever the "bounty pool" is divided by the total # of celebs & coaches.  I tried messing around with fixed bounties, but then it pulls that money for the main prize pool and nothing gets pulled from the bounty pool.

Any suggestions?

Beta Testing / Re: Version 2.5 beta 1
« on: December 19, 2007, 02:53:46 PM »
Loaded it on my work PC, but I don't have the dual screen setup at work, so I'll have to play with it more at home, but so far I like it.  I still wish that you could trigger an event based on a table breaking down and not just a suggested player movement.  Maybe it would be as simple as saying that if there are more then 2 players that are suggested to move, it is automatically assumed that it is a table breaking down, but of course you'd have to then force player to bust out one at a time and not be able to perform multiple bust-outs.  Then you'd be guaranteed to only have one player movement at a time unless a table was breaking down.  Or maybe just create an event called "more than one player movement suggested".

Further to that, make it so it will automatically display the Player Movement page only when there's a table breaking down.

Also, to maybe set a timer on the Player Movement page for either a player moving or a table breaking down so that it will switch back to the tournament screen again automatically.

As you might guess, I have issues with player movements and tables breaking down because people just don't notice the dialogues that pop up.  If the whole screen changes, then maybe people will notice it.

Help Me / Re: Multiple tournament bonus points formula

What about doing some nested if statements?

if(count(scores)=1,sum(scores),if(count(scores)=2,sum(scores)+10,if(count(scores)=3,sum(scores)+20,if(count(scores)=4,sum(scores)+30,...)))

 ;D Cool.  Thanks.

You might be better off going with a table top and then buying tables to put underneath if you want to save some $'s.  If you check with local auction houses, you can get some pretty good deals on regular folding tables that the local rental facilities are circulating out of their inventory.

Help Me / Re: 200 no limit buy in

This was for 60 players and 200 starting chips.  It usually finshed right at the goal time of 1 am with a near 7 pm start, so it was 6 hours, but if you have less people, then it should work great.  Also, you can keep all rounds at 20 min where I bump up to 30 in the later rounds because people wanted them to slow down a little when the blinds got high.  Although it's not lined up, just follow the columns across.

Help Me / Re: Formula error
« on: December 13, 2007, 08:39:35 PM »
I am trying with s, but my total score comes out as 0 for all players.  The formula is if(s<=2,0,sum(top(7,scores))).  You are right about the n, it posted a score for every player, whether they played in 1 tournament or 3.  But it it filtering a total of 3 tournaments and many players have 3 scores, but it's showing up as 0.

if(numberofscores<=2,0,sum(top(7,scores))) doesn't work either.

I also tried if(numberofscores>2,0,sum(top(7,scores))) and if(s>2,0,sum(top(7,scores))) and I get the same result, a 0.

I know that the "top" and "bottom" functions are working properly since when I used n, it gave me a score.  I have another formula that drops the players lowest score, if(s<=2,0,sum(sum(top(7,scores))-sum(bottom(1,scores)))).  It also give a 0 with s but does the calcs ok (although incorrectly as you mentioned) with n.

That's good that it will be fixed, but with 3 tournaments played so far, I didn't get any results from the filter.  I changed the variable to n for number of games and that seems to work.

Help Me / Formula error
« on: December 04, 2007, 09:20:26 PM »
I'm not sure what is happening, but I tested this previously, and it seemed to work perfectly, but now I'm getting a Formula Error.  Corey, I think you were to one who suggested these formulas.

I need one that will give me the total of the top 7 of 8 scores, but only if you play 3 or more tournaments.
I need a second one that will give me the total of the 6 lowest scores, but only if you play 7 or more tournaments.

Here's what I have.
