TD vs another software
«

Hi, I am a new one here but i ve been using TD trial for last 2-3 weeks now...
My friends and I have been running a home tourney for a while now and I just recently found out there are softwares like this on internet. Never before had crossed my mind something like this exists... Well, I dled it, and i can say I like it. Its everything i need for a tourney, so i decided something like this is worth 20-30 $... (if it was free i would donate for sure)...
So, I decided to by a software, but not yet decided will it be TD. Even though I like I dont want to find out I could get something better for same or less money. I am sure noone here will tell me why to buy something else, but I am hoping you ll tell me why to buy TD and not something else...
After short googling i found some Dr.Neau Tournament manager, is TD better and why? Any experience with any other similar software?
Tnx

That's one of the main reasons the TD is "try before you buy". I think you should always test-drive software and shop around, and therefore I would never recommend anything less. I hope that also conveys my confidence in the Tournament Director software.
If you want to get a good picture of what's out there, I recommend you visit
http://www.homepokertourney.com
and look at the "Poker Clocks" page. Not only is that site a great resource for running your tournament, it's got a fairly comprehensive list of tournament clock/management software. You'll find there are (now) quite a few. There were only a handful when I started the TD, and they were mostly pretty awful.

Well yea, it does... Also, a quick answer from author is something valuable...
But still before I buy, I would like to know do you plan in near future to make v3? Since i know i ll have to pay for that another 25 (or more$)...

Hasn't happened yet, and there are no plans to do so currently. That is, however, subject to change at any time.
Also, if the software were to move to version 3, there is no guarantee it would incur an upgrade fee. As the FAQ states:
An increase in major version
may
(or may not) incur an upgrade fee,
should such a version ever become available

If current user opinions mean any thing to you.......... I would highly reccomend TD for home and commercial use. I personally can run a tournament in a more professional manner using TD than any tournament I have played in with name brand casinos. This software provides almost any thing you could ever want. And.....if it doesn't have it, Corey (the owner/writer/customer support/sales) will often add it if you ask. You can take $1 out of 30 pots (about an hours worth of playing) and pay for this software. You will not regret it!

TD is very valuable, between the features and consistent updates... ohh and cost, it is way better than Neau's. I don't know if there is anything better at all??

Just to add, it was through HPT I found TD, and I had read reviews of alot of others. Downloaded trial, and just had to buy it. The best thing I think is that you can make it your own, so easy to use. And a well established community able to help with query's always helps

I first got TD when it was still in the donationware phase when I decided to start running my own tournament. I ran one event and immediately sent Corey some money as I felt it was well worth it. After 1 season, the tournament I was running became too cumbersome as far as keeping track of scores, etc. so I gave it up for a couple of months. Then he upgraded it and it basically took care of all the extra time I had spent on keeping track of things so it was a simple matter of click and go. I can't imagine there is anything better out there currently or anywhere in the future.

If there is any doubt from anyone on whether or not they should get this software, then do this...Go to a casino or card room and enter one of their tourneys. You will know whether or not they are using Corey's software because the one's that do, show so much more information (okay this may not be true but it has been my experience;)
My goal, when first starting my own league, was to give my players a professional experience. This meant quality poker chips, real tables and a professional tournament clock displayed on a big screen. I poured over the internet for months trying to accomplish this. Other software has "try before you buy", but usually it is very basic or dumbed down. Corey gives you the full thing. I also d/l before v.2 and before I could send him any money as a thank you for creating such a great product, he came out with v.2 and well, I think it took me all of 10 seconds before I was reaching for my credit card.
People that have come to my games always ask me what software I am running and are blown away by the features. When I tell them how much I paid for it, they are amazed.
If you run any sort of league, multi-event tournaments, this is the software you need and will come to not be able to play without.
