Tournament Screen, announcements
« on: June 11, 2014, 02:15:22 PM »
Hi,

1- Can I use a file (text, PDF) to make announcements on Tournament screen?

2- Can I enter these announcements in a row or column (in a cell)?

thank you

Sorry gilehmerd, this post slipped by me.

text: yes
PDF: no (well, it *might* be possible but not easy)

Sure.

There are a number of ways to make an announcement.  One would be to use an Event.  This would display the announcement as an "overlay".  That is, it would be displayed over whatever is currently displayed on the Game window.  The announcement could be plain text, or HTML (as elaborate as you'd like).  It could be triggered automatically or manually.  It is displayed for a configured amount of time, then disappears.

Another way would be to simply use a layout screen.  If you want to insert it into a cell, you could put it on any screen, or even create a screen with that single cell.  You could trigger the screen to be displayed based on conditions (so something happening in the tournament could cause it to be displayed) or display it manually (pressing the keys 1 through 9 on the Game window will switch to the corresponding screen; or you can select a screen manually on the Controls tab).
