Prizes are driving me bats

Hullo all,
Shiny noob here, and I'm lost as can be.

We do a fairly simple league, and are trying to use prizes to calculate our standings.  We give 1 point per rank, one point for being at the final table (top 6), and have a sliding scale for rebuys (-0 for before the first break, -1 between first and second break, and so on).

Currently our prizes format is as follows, with the top six spot adjusted:
1 = 11 pts
2 = 10 pts
3 = 9 pts
4 = 8 pts
5 = 7 pts
6 = 6 pts
7 = 4 pts
8 = 3 pts
9 = 2 pts
10 = 1 pt

Everything works peachy until we run stats.  When we bust out, we entered in 0, -1, or -2 accordingly.  These, however, are not reflected in our tournament or overall scoring.  Every rebuy either gets 0 points, or -1.  When we tried to fix it by overriding, the override made no difference in the Stats.

Ideas?

Sounds like you're using Prizes to award points, which is fine, but it's easier to just use a formula.  Yours is simple enough that you would use

n - r + 1

... in the Points for Playing field on the Game tab.  You can award negative points for rebuying, but the amount can't be automatically adjusted based on when the rebuy occurs, so you'll have to adjust any rebuyer's points.  You should enter the negative value in the Points adjustment field when you edit a player on the Players tab.

I'm not really sure how you're doing it today.  Are you assigning Points values to prizes on the Prizes tab?  You said "When we bust out, we entered in 0, -1, or -2 accordingly".  Where are you entering this?  And where are you "overriding"?

Well, the hope was to avoid having to go back and add or subtract points manually.  I've done that previously using Excel, and hoped this would help keep track of the league score automatically.  That was the main point of investing in it.  Don't get me wrong...it's great software.  I'm just caught in the learning curve.   ::)

When a player busts out, one of the options for a rebuy is to award points.  It was here that we awarded 0, -1, or -2.  However, this didn't impact prizes.  If I'm understanding you correctly, it will adjust the Points for Play formula?

Correct, it does not impact prizes.  It impacts Points.  The fields Points for Playing, Points for buy-in, Points for hit, Points  received for rebuy, and Points  received for add-on, and the Points field on each Prize all affect a player's Points.  They are all cumulative, so you can conceivably set the "Points for hit" value to "1" and set the "Points for Playing" formula to "numberOfHits * 2", and a player would receive 3 points for every player they knocked out of the tournament.
