Upgrade from 2.0 to 2.2
« on: October 12, 2006, 02:01:57 PM »

This week will be the last week for my 10 week league and I would like to upgrade to version 2.2.

Will I still be able to load the older tournaments and use the stats page for the previous version after the upgrade? All of the templates have been renamed, so I don't think these will be changed. Will the players in my database be the same? I have read in the forum there is an identifier that the users don't see and I don't want to mess any of that up, so how do I make sure they stay the same?

This software is the best but I'm always a little worried to upgrade because everything is working perfect as is. Having you in charge though, I shouldn't be scared one bit. I know you will do everything you can to get it back up and running. Great job Corey!!

Thanks for everything,

Corey Cooper

This is from the Download page (

If you have version 2 already installed, do not uninstall it. Simply install the new version. The evaluation period will not be affected, nor will your license key status be affected if you are a registered user. If you do uninstall the software first, your registration information will be removed and you will need to enter it again after installing the new version. Installing the latest version will not affect your database, preferences, or saved tournaments or templates. The new version will overwrite templates that are included with the software, so if you've modified any of the included templates, you might want to back those up before installing the newest version.

Every new version is compatible with tournaments saved with previous versions.  So version 2.2.2 will load 2.2, 2.1, 2.0, and even 1.3 tournaments.

If you're worried about upgrading, make a backup first.  Just copy the folder in which you installed the Tournament Director (usually C:\Program Files\The Tournament Director 2) to somewhere else on your hard drive.  If something does go wrong, you can always just put the copy back.
