Hi Guys

Just after a points formula for our new league which is about to start in 2 weeks time

This is the formula I used last time

if(r < 10, (10 - r + 1) * 10, switch(r, 10, 15, 11, 10, 12, 8, 13, 6, 14, 4, 15, 2, 16, 1, 0)) + (nh * 10) - (20 * nr)

It worked well but I would like first place to get more than 10 points more than 2nd place...
Could someone suggest me a formula I would like a bigger gap between the placings more so 1st to 3rd because 10 points difference isn't much

I think 10 Points for Hitman and 20 points for reuby is ok So I would like to keep this

Here's our structure we have between 15 and 25 people playing this time Iam hoping for a bigger turn out, have really pushed the advertising ( fingers crossed)

We play once a week it's at a local club.

$20 buy in 5000 chips with one rebuy allowed up to the end of the first hour.

Blinds this time will start at 100/200 then 200/400 500/1000 1000/2000 2000/4000
Tourney will run for 10 weeks and then top 10 will play off.

Thanks Guys

If I'm reading it right, your scale goes from 1 pt for last to 100 for first, correct? The one we use varies depending on how many players there, but with the right multipliers it could be roughly the same range, assuming you have a fairly consistent turnout. It's exponential so it increases slowly at the bottom then increasingly rapidly closer to the top.

10*nh + round(30*sqrt(n)/sqrt(r)-29) - 20*nr

That would go from 1 point to 105 points for a 20-player tourney, plus the knockout and rebuy points. You can play with different numbers to get it in the range you'd prefer. The difference between the numbers (30 and 29) will be the number of points for last place.

Those blinds go up extremely fast. Is getting done within a certain amount of time your primary goal? Actually, you didn't say how long the rounds are, maybe I'm assuming they're 15-20 minutes and they're really much longer.

Thanks, but I have made a new forumla, one that has bigger increases between 1st to 4th as I didn't think 10 points was a big enough gap.

Our blinds use to be 15min but this time 30min, with a higher increase, everyone is loving the new format.

Thanks for your reply

5000 chips with starting blinds of 100/200.....isn't that called pissing in the dark.....that is very, very aggressive blinds. Might as well go play the slots.
