Whats the ruling on this guys?

Self dealt tourney tonight - 2 guys are arguing like mad!

1 - Do you have to cut the deck if its offered?
2 - If you don't want to cut the deck, should it be offered to anyone else?

I ruled that it's always been an option in our game - not a must - and it shouldn't be offered to anyone else. Did I do the right thing as I'll be getting quized next week!
Should we be doing something different?

Cheers

In the local casion the ruling is left of the dealer  shuffles, right cuts.

This must be done before any cards can be delat. As far as I know as long as there is not a physical reason why the person on the right cannot cut, this MUST be done.

Hope that helps.

Nice one - It helps!

We had murder with it on Monday night and I don't want to be put in that situation again.
We're still a relatively small (30-50) Tourney and the buy-ins are small, so usually - It's quite friendly.

I've put a rule in place that the dealer shuffles and Right MUST cut. I considered left of dealer shuffling but it could cause some confusion with some of our players

If the person offered does not want to cut, the dealer self-cuts in our league.  We use cut cards though, so that make a difference.  Wink

The rule is that if you are self dealing, the deck must be cut by someone else. If you have a non involved dealer, he may cut, but it still must be cut. For our home games, it is a bit difficult to make this mandatory, but we offer to the right if they refuse.... we offer further to the right.

It is the player to the right of the dealers option. If he does not want them sut, they are not cut.
