No, its slow enough with the amount of players we are not taking any reservation, only paid players are there. Like i already explain to you how we doing the registration, i only have the name who already buy in the tournament.  If it can help i have a Database around 5k players, its only the last 3months. Not sure if having that much can be a reason of this slow down.

Also not sure if it help too but the first time we notice that slow down and we decided to put one computer on simple mode. I simply open a copy of the tournament and change it to simple mode. I found out it was really slow to add new amound of players or busting one, even if its a simple click.  I went back to the track name, delete all the player then go back in simple mode and it was as fast as a brand you simple mode.

There is no problem for the clock if nothing is touch, it run perfecly fine, unless you do an action, then it simply freeze and as the action is resume the clock jump to the time it suppose to be. The program keep counting down so it jump to the right place. Still bad for the customer to see this. This is why we are using another computer to have it on simple mode, which have no problem at all with that much players.

Where is slow down:

1- When you load a tournament with already 700+ players in, it take a while to load, the more you have the longer it takes.
2- Changing from one Tab to another one, example Tables to Players. the more players you have in the tournament the slower it take to change.  changing the setting to see players on multiple page help but still slower then a tourney with 80 players.
3- When selecting an option on a players,  mostly anything that ask for a search...
4- When busting a player, this one is the worst at 700 it can take up to 3-4 sec, at 1600 it can go up as much as 12-15sec

Those are the point where it slow down that i can think of right now, since we dont use much more option in the program for this part of the tournament (day 2 or more). Also all others kind of option like exporting, printing or else works fines as usual.

Hope this help to pin-point the problem.

Work perfectly fine, i did it on a 700-800 players tourney so far and it was great.

Next big event will be by the end of March or so, will have around 1600 players just for the first event, its pretty much the same thing, the only problem is the program is slowing down drastically as soon as you past 700 players. Which can bring some problem when you have like 20 players in less then 5min busting out as soon as the bubble break around 117 places paid for example. since its slow and we have to bust to make sure of the name and seat. We have a way to work around that problem. Like  having one computer running on simple mode for the 700+ tourney and we have another tournament with only the players who made the day 2 for example 213 players. So its fast and everything is good. Its just bring the problem to not have the tourney all in one, but its not a big deal, when we need the stats from the tournament i just have to go back and forth from the multi-day tournament. No big deal so far. its just the old problem to not be able to do multi-day on TD3. We are used to it right now and have a nice little set up that make everything run smooth. I'm also working another way of doing things here that will help me work better and faster with the export/import option. It will save us a lots of time even in regular tourney. I keep you in touch about it. In the mean time you have new idea that can help in this matter, as usual i will be happy to help you out.

Is there any automatic update you did lately?  Cause I'm on a completely different computer and i got the same bug with another window (Add New DataStore). The funny part is this version is not the beta Version, it is the normal one.

That's ... very strange.  I'll have to look into this one.  If you see it again and could grab a screenshot, that would be great.

Got it, i was lucky on this one, one of my assistant was changing the background as i was looking the computer from far lol  i jump on the computer right on time to take a screen shot.  He didn't do any special. just open the properties select the window for the picture then select the picture. As he was pressing ok the screen move like you can see in the picture.

I think you're using the TD a little differently than most.

Yeah, i think so lol

That's ... very strange.  I'll have to look into this one.  If you see it again and could grab a screenshot, that would be great.

That's weird, I'm not able to reproduce it...  i keep on trying and get the screen shot when it will happen and what i did at that moment.

FYI, this doesn't happen if you add a player from your database by using the Add Players button on the Players tab, or the Add button on the Controls tab, or from the Dashboard, or by using hotkeys.  It's only when added by right-clicking a player on the Database tab and selecting "Add to tournament" or by editing a player on the Database tab and pressing the "Add to Tournament" button.

We don't use Add players from Players Tab because it open a window witch (correct me if I'm wrong) load the Database each time you open it. So it take a while to load and search a player when you have 5k players or so... not even talking if you pass the 10k players lol. So we are not using it.  Also, like i said, the bug is not a big deal, we simply add the name or we just use new player and add him to the tournament. When we use the import export method, its a a way to do it where we don't care about the internal ID. (no point for a TLB or other stats) That's why we simply add the name as a new player and not added to Database.  If stats are needed we are exporting the players tab in CSV and we work with that.

I just got a little weird mistake, using the export of a player list and importing them into the tournament. Using the export /import  of a player list to build up the tournament, it required that your Database is empty. This way when you export a second time; let say when 12 more players registered, TD detect who is in and who is not by showing the list in red and black. If you are on your full Database, all name in your DB and Tournament will show red, witch kinda fuck you up lol

So the bug i found was by the end of the tournament when only 2-5 players are registering late in the tournament, i want to switch to the normal Database and enter the lasts players manually (instead of exporting from the other program, changing the file and importing it for only 1 player). So i change the Datastore for the full DB, then search for my player, as i use Database to find him and add to the tournament. he turn red as usual and has all his info (First, last, ID, Phone, City...), but when i go to the table i don't see the name in the unseat column, but in the player list he is there with all his info except the first name and last name. That's the only two field that get clear in this process. To work around for now i simply use new player in Players Tab or i just fill the field manually.

P.S.: I have another little one but yet able to reproduce. My prizes showed at $0 for each prizes. But when i checked the Prizes Tab everything was alright. i just force the automatic and it get fix on the layout. I will try to make the bug appear again to know how it happen.

The Export \ Import is working really fine, importing a list of 60 players and having them popping at the seat right away save us lots of time. Now one single person can take care of 3 tournaments at the same time, witch allow us to be more on the floor.

In Layout i found a little glitch. When you go in properties / Build-in screen / Players movements screen and you change the picture of the background (same error for the other section like custom screen); When you press Ok , the image the button OK and the  are sliding to the right of the window (like the button was moving away from your mouse lol)  If you press it again at the new position it work. I was able to repeat it a couple time then it stopped.

The Database change has improve, good improved so far. took 2-3 sec to find one player instead of 4-5 sec, still slow but its a great improvement. This is on a database of 4900 players or so. I have to test it on a larger one. like 12k players.  The table Collapse order is working great. It does exactly what i was doing manually, for a long time now. Its great to not have to think about changing it every time we break a table.

Will come back on more option tested in the next days.

Easy way for you right now, would be to simply make 2-3 seats available on each table on your 3 tables and then your 20 players will spread on all seats, same as for 10 tables, just block all the even or odd seats then sit down your players. open all the 2 for example to gave out 10 news seats.  I know its more manual working, but could do the job while Corey figured out something.

To find a Specific name over multiple tables like 10-40  i just go in the Players tab but name in order and look for it, you can see the seat if you added the column of course. Quick enough to check, but having it with a search option could be a little cool option to not have to go between the Tabs.

Suggestions / Re: Re-Entry / Rebuy with new seat
« on: October 28, 2013, 04:28:47 PM »
The Main difference between Rebuys and Re-Entries are that players pay the rake twice (unless you take rake on rebuys which mostly no one does), can take the dealer add-ons again because they are consider new players and also a rebuy has to be taken right aways before you bust out, the re-entry allow the player to leave the game, untilt for a moment then re-enter the tournament on a new table.

Personally Re-Entry are only use in Satellite tournament so far. The way i set it up its simply using the rebuys with rake. So the buy in and the rebuy are exactly the same. when a player bust out we answer no on the rebuy. As soon as he re-enter you just do rebuy on the player and the name appear in the unseated column and you assign him a new seat. ( Like Corey Explain above)

As for the Screen how to show the amount of players and not rebuy.  I write this in the layout:

Entries: <entries>
   <br>Re-Entry: <rebuys>
   <br>Remaining: <players>

This show the screen the amount of player then it show the word Re-Entry: and the amount of rebuys. Players see Re-entry but for you its rebuys, which is not a big difference. Except in the summary which show you the re-entry as rebuy. But not much of a problem to work this way.

Also it gave the players the information as how many real different players are in the tournament and how many re-entry. We received good comment on this one.

If you are using add-on as dealer addon, you just have to gave one more addon each time one player rebuy.

Hope this help some of you that runs re-entry tournament.
As for the point i think its just a matter of changer the formula to suit your need.

Suggestions / Printer error
« on: September 16, 2013, 02:56:51 PM »
I think i found a little glitch in the printer set up. Today by computer guy install a new printer at the cage, he link the new one with all the tourney computer we use.

The Tournament Director was not able to print out the prizes on the receipt printer (TM-T88V) using export in the Prizes tab.
In fact the receipt printer was printing a little piece of white paper. like a half inch. But when saving he export of printing it on a big printer, it was all fine.
It was also working properly for other print / export like the player movement. After some search on the problem. It appear that the files are fine, printer too and the set up on the internet page also.
The problem was only that Receipt printer has to be set by default to be able to print the prizes on the receipt printer. If the big printer is set by default and you press export / print, you have the option to select your printer and you select the receipt printer, it gave you the problem i just describe.

All computer have been set by default to the receipts printer since its what we use the most, and its not a problem for us. I was just letting you know about this little problem.

I like the new separate buy in, it gave us some idea for new kind of tournament. At first I though it was going to solve one main problem we have with Dealer Bonus at the start of the tournament.

Unfortunately if you do the buy in including the $5 in the rake you don't see the separate rake in the summary.  So I think the main problem is that multiple rake (per player rake, dealer bonus... etc) are all in the same. Would help to keep track of each rake in different section in the summary rake section.
