Suggestions / Re: Tournament Template
« on: February 16, 2006, 03:07:04 PM »
There's an option to set a default tournament setting.  What you do is set up a tournament then save it.  The option for the default tournament is under the preference tab.  All you have to do after that is once you've loaded the tournament, make sure to save it as a different file.  The option is at the bottom of the "Miscellaneous" section under the "Preferences" tab.

Suggestions / Re: rebuy or add-on, not both

Well . . . I guess you could just limit everone one add-on and just let them add-on whenever, including when they've busted down to zero . . . I mean, if you're limiting them to either one rebuy or one add on, just call everything an "add-on."

How did you make the ante only show up when an ante exists

First, create a new property set for the ante cell, (I call it "No Ante" cause I'm creative like that).  Then, click the condition button and set the property: "Ante is non-zero" to "No" at any stage and hit OK.  Finally click the first checkbox under the property set that
s labled "Display Cell" so there is no checkmark in the box.

its ok, i made one up, i did not have one as standard, and my txt just simply say <ante> and it works just fine now, thanks for your help anyway

By just doing that, all it will display is the ante amount.  If you want people to know what that number is, I'd suggest putting something like "Ante: " or "Ante - " in front of <ante>.

General Discussion / Re: 2.0 is Great

That database has made my job of collecting stats for my league soooooo much easier.  It's amazing how quickly I can figure year-to-date totals simply because of the database.  I can now assign points to everyone automatically rather than having to do it by hand.  It's just great.

I'm sure I'm not using the software to its fullest potential, but it works just fine for our games and does everything I need it to.

There should already be one.  It comes standard in the list on the right side of the screen where all the other cells are under the "display" tab.

However, the text I have in the HTML Code box, in case you decide to create a new cell, is: <nobr>Ante: <ante></nobr>

Just paste that into the HTML box in the property set.

Hmm, I see.  Well, until TD2 gets formula support for that area, I think you might be stuck with having to just manually entering the numbers.

What you could do, as what I did, if your prize structure is consistent (meaning it's always the same) is to spend an hour making prize templets.  It's not fun, but it speeds things up setup time.  Just setup prizes ranging from 10 - 30 players, (E.g.: one templet for 10 players, one for eleven players, etc.).

Just to get the ball rolling on this: here's the layouts I use for our home poker league.  The first is before the tournament starts and the second is during the game.

These aren't amazingly creative or anything . . . but hey . . . they work for us. :)
The Pre-Tournament design really is all about getting the important information to everyone without having the switch screens every five seconds.  I like doing this more than having the screens rotate beetween the tournament window and the seating chart, even though TD2.0 can do that.  This is nicer I think.

You'll have to do it in the prize category.  There's an option for a non-monetary prize.  Just use the formula "n * 10" (or 7, 5, etc) in the "points" box.

The "Points of playing" option on the front page seems really more for giving points to everyone who plays.  If you want to limit that, you're better off doing so under the "prize" tab.

Are you looking for this image to be your background, or just for a picture for a cell?

Help Me / Re: Import Tournaments
« on: February 15, 2006, 12:18:38 PM »
Well, I know you can import display templets alright, but I've never actually tried importing old tournaments.  I'm thinking they probably wouldn't work simply because of the amount of new options in version 2.0.  The settings are so different from 1.3 to 2.0.

As far as the minimum bets go, they're listed under the "rounds" tab as "Limit 1" and "Limit 2."  There isn't an option to list the bring-in though.  Although, you could work around that by changing the small blind cell to read "Bring in" and use the small blind column under the "rounds" tab as your bring in amount.

So, the antes/limits are easy, but the bring in seems to require a little more work.

If you want them to show up on your layout, there is a cell for that.

Captn_All_In is right.  The ante is a different cell than the one for the blinds.  On my layout, I created a property set for the "ante" cell that keeps the antes invisible until they actually kick in during the tournament.
