Templates, Layouts and Sounds / Count down clock
« on: December 27, 2010, 01:54:43 PM »
I have tried to put a countdown clock on a pre tournament screen.
I have put a countdown cell on the screen with these attributes
Time till the Start of the Tournament <br> <currenttime format="12-hour">

when  I go to the screen it shows the same time as the cell which shows "the current time screen.
How can i make the countdown work, from  say 1 hour before the comp begins.

would be a great help if some one could up load a pre-tournament screen so i could see exactly what is what.
This the first time i have tried to create a screen. A bit of trial and error at the moment. seeing what fits where, sizing fonts etc
have done a main tournament screen which was quite easy as all the basics can be changed from the sample screens etc.
Slowly getting there

thanks in advance.

Help Me / Re: Altering the Names Coloumns
« on: December 21, 2010, 10:10:34 AM »
Preferences tab -> Name Format button.  This hasn't changed in 2.6.  However, in the final 2.6, this dialog will list players' "Name" (the format of which you control), Nickname, First name, and Last name.
Thank you

In the TD beta, on the players Tab . When i go to add a player to the tournament it comes up with only the first name.
This can be confusing when you have a lot of players with the same name

How can I get it to show both first name and last name. Tried to edit the columns names to no avail
Thanks in advance

In a previous post on October 13, 2010, 04:11:29 PM, i asked for help concerning a points system hat i wanted to implement

You were kind enough to offer the formulae
(n - r + 10) + (max(0, 4 - floor((r - 1) / 10)) * 10) + if(r < 9, max(0, 100 - (r * 10)) + if(r = 1, 10))

I have used this formulae twice before and it has worked great. And give s exactly what i asked for.
However now there is a slight problem.

In this example using TD 2.5.11 below there are 64 entrants
1st place gets 213 points
2nd, 63, 192.00
3rd, 62, 181.00
4th, 61, 170.00
5th, 60, 159.00
6th, 59, 148.00
7th, 58, 137.00
8th, 57, 126.00
9th, 56, 105.00
10th, 55, 104.00
DOWN TO
61st, 4, 13.00
62nd, 3, 12.00
63rd, 2, 11.00
64th, 1, 10.00
EXACTLY AS WHAT WAS DESCRIBED
HOWEVER IN TD beta 6
This is what happens
1st,151.00
2nd,130.00
3rd,119.00
4th,108.00
5th,97.00
6th,86.00
7th,75.00
8th,64.00
9th,43.00
10th,42.00
Then when you get to position 31 it goes into minus figure and awards
pos 31 -9
pos 32 -10
the last 5 positions get
60th -48
61st -49
62nd -50
63rd -51
64th - 52

Any ideas as to why there is a discrepancy in the 2 different points awarded systems

Lets face it everyone is looking for a quick way. And the quick way would - What? save seconds!

I wouldn't be too worried about updating everything people suggest.  You probably spend more time anwering question, that have been asked a dozen times before. But i guess  you already know, that everyone on here appreciates's all the hard work that you do. Not just with the Software, but also the forums. Many thanks.

Agree with you on your answers. Would be no problem to do

I thought i nearly had it with this
I have renamed rake 1  - Member rake, and named rake 2 - Guest Rake. Thinking that i could select the  different rake that was required.
When i go to add a player on the Players tab. the list of players appears. When i select the buy in details the it show the gross rake and when you click on that it shows the 2 different rakes. then I  just delete the rake that i require.  easy to do.

It may be an idea for a later update to put both different rakes next to each other. so that you can have the option to tick and select the rake that is required for each player., guest or member

I have ran 4 tournaments so far with The Tournament Director and each time players have been wowed by the software and the things that it can do.
I have only scratched the surface. The software really does allow me to concentrate more on my poker. (Even made the final table and cashed). And i do like to try messing about with the program to see what more can be done. Gonna try to get fancy soon and make some of my own layouts.

Many thanks for the answers. and many thanks for the program.

Help Me / Re: configure TD for turney with knock out
« on: December 12, 2010, 04:17:23 PM »
On the Game Tab

Buy In $ 70
per-player rake $10
Check Use Bounty chips
Uncheck  restrict bounties
In Bounty chip cost put $20

This will give you
20 players - @ $70 per head - total game of prize pool of $1400
20 players - @$10 rake / head total rake -----------------------$ 200
20 players -@ $20 per head total cost of bounties-----------$ 400
Totals ----------------------------------------------------------------------$2000

whether or not you want to use bounty chips is up to you. I would recommend this
hope i got this right

Help Me / per-player rake
« on: December 12, 2010, 04:00:11 PM »
WE charge a  fixed donation fee per game per player if $5. thsi is on top of the game fee. Tis is to pay for equipment, and to put on a free roll for all members at the end of a season.
Uptill now guest have always been charged the same fee.
Until now i have put this amount into the per-player rake
How can i do this now as the rake will be different for members and guest?
thanks in advance

Help Me / Re: Side-Pot
« on: December 05, 2010, 03:24:01 PM »
I've tried that it tends to want to pay each bounty to each player when they are taken out, instead of 1 pot to 1 player,  I do it manually, in a cell named ( SIDE POT ) names of who's in it then Winner etc,   but when ur not there and someone else is running the game,  they get alittle confused.  but the bounty would work if you had a choice to pay each player. or to make 1 pot  ( I think )
See about the bounty, but instead of earning moey just award 1 point for the bounty and add a single fixed prize for the long lasting bet

If you are not using bounties, could you not use the bounty chip for the  side pot indicators. If you restrict then to only people who pay to be in the side pot. would this not do what is required. You can work it so that the hitman's name is not shown. This should, show up on the players rankings screen. There might be some way to rename the bounties to side pot and also rename the columns on the player ranking screen as well.
Hope i got the jist of this question right and that the answer that i have given doesn't sound to stupid ad is of some help.

From Help files
Bounty chip cost and the Restrict bounties values as well (see below). When a player busts another player out, the hitman (the player busting the other player out) receives the busted out player's bounty chip, and at the end of the tournament, the chips are cashed out, with each player receiving the cost of a bounty chip for each chip they have collected. The winner(s) of the tournament will still have their own bounty chips, and will also cash them out for their cost.
Bounty chip cost: Enter the cost of the bounty chip here, if you have checked the Use player bounty chips box (above). The bounty chip cost is IN ADDITION to the buy-in cost. Therefore, if the buy-in for your tournament is $50.00, and you choose to use player bounty chips at a cost of $5.00, each player should pay $55.00 to buy-in and receive their bounty chip.
Restrict bounties: Check this box if you intend to allow the purchase of a bounty chip to be optional, and you wish only those players who purchase bounty chips to be able to win bounty chips. If this box is unchecked, anyone busting out another player will win their bounty chip. If checked, only players who have themselves purchased bounty chips can win bounty chips by busting players out. If this option is not checked, and a player who purchased a bounty chip is busted out of the tournament by a player who did not purchase a bounty chip, the busted out player retains his/her bounty chip and may cash it in for their bounty fee.
