Help Me / Re: How to use barcode scanner to register players
« on: May 05, 2013, 01:42:41 PM »
Here's the best one I could find on here:

In a nutshell: If the scanner doesn't have the software with it, you'll have to find the site. Set up a hotkey to coincide with the scanner, and you should basically be set.

Depending on what you're using, you can do a control + print screen, or you can use the snipping tool to get a screen shot of what is on the screen, DominicStokes.

I haven't personally done this, but I seem to recall someone somewhere having done just this... I'll see if I can find it, if I can, I'll post a link to the thread as a reply

i think it is supposed to be "2 * nh" instead of just two, since you're looking for 2 points per hit.

I'm sure that if you were to ask, there would be some of us that would be willing to work on it, or at least on parts of it.... *coughs*   ;)

General Discussion / Re: Formula HELP for this sample

- numbers of players " represent the maximum points for the last standing player, the winner"
I'm a little confused here, are you wanting the number of people outlasted (n-r or n-r+1), or do you want the total number of people that were in the tournament (n)?

- to give points in the simple method: first player that make a rebuy has 1 point "all the rebuys/addons to be ignored" and to be considered out of game for ranking only, last standing player get maximum points regarding total numbers of players that was in the game
First to rebuy, as far as I know, is going to have to be done one of two ways. One is to manually adjust the points of the player "+1", the other (probably suggested) way is to create a prize, labeling it something like "1st rebuy", and manually award it to the recipient.

- and also the buy in value and all the rebuys /add-ons to be ignored in formula but to be able to continue in the game
By not putting in nr or na, rebuys and addons will be ignored, for purposes of the formula.

- very important the first player who make a rebuy to be considered by the formula out of game and give to him a specific points regarding the order, as example: from a number of 45 players, the first one that make a rebuy to receive 1 point and the last place in ranking list, the next one 2 points and so far until the last one that will take 45 point and the first place in ranking list
This sounds more like the n-r+1 that I was eluding to under the first quote.

So let's put this together. Basic point structure will be n-r+1 (number of players, minus the rank, plus 1) (out of 45 players, you rank 1st. This will give 45-1+1, or 45 points).
1st addon/rebuy will have to be done one of two ways. No way, that I'm aware of, of how to automate the award of that prize. Not adding the na or nr variables, rebuys and addons will be ignored for purposes of the formula.

You can use an editor like Paint to edit the color. All you would have to do is to right click the file, select "open with" and then find Paint (or the editor of your choice).

Is the table circular, hexagonal, or oval in shape?

One basic formula that will work is this:

n - r + 1  (one point for last, one point for next out, etc.)

switch(r, 1, 25, 2, 15, 3, 10, 4, 7, 5, 5, 6, 4, 7, 3, 8, 2, 9, 1)   (awards points based upon top 9 finish, 25 bonus for 1st, 15 for 2nd, etc)

put together, makes n - r + 1 + switch(r, 1, 25, 2, 15, 3, 10, 4, 7, 5, 5, 6, 4, 7, 3, 8, 2, 9, 1)

Not a problem at all - glad I could help you out! If you were in the Denver area instead of SoCal, I'd say let's meet up and I could show you some of what TTD can do for you.

Help Me / Re: Formule, 5 rounds on 8 possible...

Are you looking for points to be awarded for just the top five finishers? If so, you would want to modify your IF statement by replacing the 8 with a 5. If you're looking for the top five tournaments to be scored for each player, then the top(5, scores) would be correct. However, there is more that you would need to do than just that. You would need to go to the stats tab, and create a new profile. From there, put in the criteria that you need, then click save. Each time you run the stats, regardless of the number of tournaments run, it will show the best five tournaments for each participant. If you need more help with it, or if I'm misunderstanding what you're looking to do, please reply here and I'll give you more help.

Help Me / Re: Adding Points Manually

Is there a way or maybe this needs to be in suggestions to add points to a player for a league manually?

What I mean is this...

My league has been running since the beginning of the year and we go year long. The players already have established points for previous tournaments. I know by adding the formula they will start getting points but is there a way to manually put in the points they already have and then create a screen for it displaying the top 10 in points?

You can adjust anyone's points in a particular tournament, so you can, in your next tournament, edit each player on the Players tab and set their current points in the "Adjust points by:" field.  So, for example, if player "John" has thus far earned 100 points, set the "Adjust points by:" field to 100.

But I think the best way to fix this is to simply load each of your previously saved tournaments, set the Points for Playing formula, and then re-save the tournament.  Changing the formula will cause the points to be recalculated.  When you run stats, the entire tournament is re-evaluated anyway, so now that each tournament has a Points for Playing formula, everyone will be awarded points appropriately.

For the record, I did place your points for playing in the tournament of the first file from the 4th, and have it on the other thread for you to download, if you so choose to.

Assuming you want the points just to be summed up, here's the file that should be able to help you out. Also, attached are the TTD files that you had sent me. I did make some changes in the first one, so be sure to save the new one (was missing points for playing formula).

I did the assistance file as a TXT since I wasn't sure if you use MS Word or not, and if you do, not knowing which version you run. This way, you should be able to import it into any processing document and it should show up decently for you. (Otherwise, notepad will work just fine too.) If you decide to open it with notepad, I suggest ensuring that "word wrap" is checked to prevent scrolling off the side of the screen.

Hope this helps!

RC - I believe I have the stats issue figured out for you... I'm going to type everything up in a document, then send it over, or post it via the other thread you had started, where I had asked to see the file.

RC - for the overall points, I assume you want the total points earned to summed up?
