Beta Testing / Re: 2.6.b5 Potential Bug with Stats
« on: June 13, 2011, 12:58:33 AM »
I think I had exactly the same issue in Stats and Corey confirmed it to be a bug, http://www.thetournamentdirector.net/forums/index.php?topic=2738.msg13272#msg13272

We resolved this in email, but to let everyone know this is definitely a bug.  It only affects preferences that were upgraded from a previous beta of 2.6, and only Stats Profiles that had the "Use Default Sources" checkbox checked.  If this affects anyone, send me an email and I can resolve it for you.  Thanks GT!

Edit: To follow up on this, in beta 5 I changed the Stats Profiles, removing the "Default Source".  This was a common place to configure where the profiles looked for your tournament files, which was supposed to save time if you had multiple profiles that all looked in the same place to find tournaments.  In the end I found it was more confusing than time saving, so I removed it.  But when something like that is removed, I usually have to add code to "fix" the preferences for those who used that version of the software.  The "fix" should only happen once, but the software is "fixing" the preferences every time the software is started.  That's the bug.

...  but in Profile Properties it still says source to computer A (I even removed computer A as source)!!!!!!!

I'm afraid I don't understand what this means.  Can you provide a screenshot?
I sent you a PM

* Stats, if I copy everything (C:\Users\My Documents\TD2 and C:\Program Files\TD2) from computer A to B, I cannot run stats on computer B (has never been any problems before).

Error message:

If I change to the correct paths in profiles for Computer B, it doesn't save the info and I still get the error message

Not sure what's going on here.  If you copy the folders from one PC to another, and into the same locations, you should not have to change any paths.  And are you sure about that last part ("it doesn't save the info")?  I mean, I haven't seen any issues with modifying Stats Profiles.

One thing you can do is edit the profile, then edit the Sources.  In the Sources folder listing, right-click a folder you believe has tournament files in it and select "Explorer folder".  That should open Windows Explorer directly to that folder and let you confirm there are tournament files in it.

Yes, I have tried all that. I add the correct source path (computer B), Explore the folder and can see the files (no problems), click ok and return to Profiles menu but in Profile Properties it still says source to computer A (I even removed computer A as source)!!!!!!!

Thanks for the new beta.

Some things I discovered.
* Players/Add Players to tournament, is it possible to remove the new columns (Name, First, Last). I only want Nickname
* If I Hide Scrollbars, I cannot use the mouse wheel to scroll, is it suppose to be like that?
* Stats, if I copy everything (C:\Users\My Documents\TD2 and C:\Program Files\TD2) from computer A to B, I cannot run stats on computer B (has never been any problems before).

This is just for stats calculations, so there aren't any tokens or the like.  I actually implemented this yesterday, so there will be a "Last" column on the Stats tab.
Great news (I SO want that Beta 5 now  ;D)

That's what the "1st" column is: the number of times the player has ranked (or busted out in) first place.
No, that is not what I meant (I use 1st in my Stats at the moment). I want to have a column that shows the number of times the player has been placed LAST in tournaments.

In Stats you can select many things to be displayed (i.e. 1st - 10 th place, Winnings etc). Is it possible to show how many times the player has bust out first in played tournaments? If it's not possible today, could it be a feature in the future?
Thanks!

Suggestions / Re: Auto perform action on table suggestion

You cannot do this yet.  You will be able to do this with the next beta (beta 5)
Ahha, that explains why I didn't get it to work  ;D Thanks for the info

I'll look into an option to automatically accept movement suggestions.  As for the other part: I don't see how "Omit current seat" could help, because upon accepting a movement suggestion, this dialog closes.  Thus, an option to automatically accept player movement suggestions wouldn't even show the dialog.  For the "Display Player Movement screen ..." checkbox, that is really a convenience feature.  What you would need is actually already on the "to-do" list, and that is a conditions variable that holds the last time a player movement suggestion was accepted.  That would allow you to create a Screen Set that included only the Player Movement screen, and have its conditions be something like:

(time - lastplayermovetime) < 30

Thus, the screen set containing just the player movement screen would be selected automatically for the 30 seconds after a player movement suggestion was accepted.
Adding this will actually be pretty simple so I'm going to go ahead and do it.

Edit: I modified the formula above to reflect the actual variables I added.
I don't quite understand this part  :-[ How, where and to what do I change to get it working? Do you have a print screen?

Great (then I just have to wait for Beta 5  ;D)

Regarding Player Movement screen as discussed earlier, I would also prefer an option to set how long the Player Movement screen would be shown on screen and then automatically go back to Main Screen. Is that possible?

you can only disable it each time it displays by right clicking on the screen when displayed then 'auto-scroll' (or something similar)

The only other thing I can suggest is to reduce the font size in order that more information is displayed at once, reducing the need for scrolling.

Stu
Yes I've done all that. But even though I don't have ANYTHING on the screen, the scroll bar is visible and "out-greyed"

How and where do you change that the Player Movement screen is shown on screen (automatically) when a player busts out and one (or more) players will move table?

Thanks!
