Help Me / Re: Live site updates

Well, I guess if I were going to use it to do what I thought it would do, I'd simply just like to have it create a stream of messages with updates. I guess it would look like a chat log if someone were to look at it.  After the event, I'd probably say it'd be something to archive and people could review them later or something.

Any thoughts on how I might so do something like that? A general direction would be cool.

I found that feature that publishes updates to a. URL. Is this basically a "live update" feature?
What I mean is, iOS this something that would give my website visitors a sort of play-by-play of our games?

If so...Really cool.

How do I use it?

What do I need to do to process the file on my site ?  Anyway to work like  streaming coverage of an event?

Oh and BTW. Way to go on this version.

I had tried to do this with the earlier version and couldn't get it to work efficiently.

Why don't you tell people HOW you did this and how you set it all up?

Help Me / TD3 Can't Search and register multiple players
« on: November 13, 2011, 07:50:42 PM »

When I search for a player to register them for the game, I find the player and check off their name. Then I search for the next player, find them then check off their name. When I click ok, it only seats the last player I checked off.  It doesn't add the other 40 players I checked off.

Is there a setting for it in V3?

You are a formula genius.  It seems to be working.

You just amaze me with these things. LOL...I bow to you again.

Sorry Corey. The rows first column is A and 1...So the blank space top left A1

BTW, I entered this attempt at the formula and it gave EVERY player 420 after 9th place.  It got the number of positions right though. It should pay 9 places points and the rest 20...That it did correctly.

I pasted it in the points for playing and when I went to test it, it says "Formula has an error".

Ok, Sensei Cory...

Can you figure out this formula? I don't know how to apply this to the template.

This is formula has to calculate the number of players entered in the event, award everyone 20 points just for playing but also figure out how many places to pay out.

I have the formula from a spreadsheet if you could figure out a translation of the formula.

Is is a small chart of the points payout. Top row = # of entries  - Column 1 = Positions paid out.

So wait...If I understand what this topic is talking about...I can manage the software from my iPad or iPhone? Is that right?

Do you have an actual step by step to setting this up?

Also would it be possible for players to view the screens on their iPhones using this method?

Sorry for the delayed response. Worked all day yesterday.

I have been using this software for at least two years and I still don't understand the formula system...I thank my lucky stars for it...but don't get it.  I'm glad Corey and other do though.

I will put this in and test it today. Thanks.

Well Corey, rather than rack my brain trying to figure it out I figure I'll ask for you assistance.

I would like to use a linear points system.

I'll use 1point as my basis to make it easy.

Every player that shows up get's a point.  Then the entire point system is based on attendance.

EG: 10 players

1st Place - 10 points
2st Place - 9 points
3rd Place - 8 points

Now, as a bonus I'd like the system to assign additional points to the top 8 players of the game.  I haven't figured out a number for that bonus yet.  (open to opinions here). Let's say 500 points per game.  250 for first and divide the rest between the last 7.   In what amounts? I haven't thought of anything yet but you should get the idea.

I do want a HUGE difference in points between first and the rest of the payouts.  This way, players (as I've tested) fight for the extra points.

Thanks in advance...again.

Actually I designed a webform for my TDs to submit the tdt files.  So now it should work wonders.

I thought so.

Um, when they don't have a new person to be added to the database, they just export the tournament results and send us the html file.

I'm thinking that they should ALWAYS send me the TDT files.

I can't believe the amount of data I need to track to properly run  and market our events.

Thanks for everything you're doing with the software. Keep up the good work.
