Help Me / Multiple LCD Screens Displaying TD Clock via HDMI
« on: January 17, 2010, 03:36:39 PM »
Hi all,

I've got a big tourney coming up which will be in four different rooms!  I already have ran successfully 2 screens using an HDMI splitter and leads, and have enough leads and splitters for the next one, but this does not work when I connect all the cables up it's seems as if the signal degrades.

I have had a look on Ebay and it's looks like I need to buy some repeaters for the cables, to stop signal degredation, but I can find no definative descriptions that match my requirements, the best I can find is a splitter for one output to two inputs, but I will have 4 or 5 LCD's running the TD clock with sound.

Anyone who can help?

Regards
Stuart

Help Me / Re: Concerns with using TD on plasmas?

after reading the review I think the problem was massive contrast on the screen (white background and the nuts poker league logo)

Should not is correct I never anticipated any problem, but there it is alas, I suppose it is possible through the sheer amount of heat just not as septible as plasma.  Rotating screens is def the answer to prevent it happening though on any screen - CRT, LCD or PLASMA.

wildbil

I run the TD on LCD screens and have burned my company logo into the screen, from the break screen, but didn't make it so bad as it is only noticable when a certain shade of green is displayed on the screen.

My solution to keep this from happening again is to utilise the screen set and rotate as follows:

During Game:  40s Main Screen, 20 Secs Blinds Schedule, 40s Main Screen, 20s Player Rankings

Breaks: 40 Secs Main Screen, 40 Secs Breaks Screen, 40 secs Player Rankings

Before Game: 30secs Pre-Tourney Screen, 30 Secs, Main Screen, 30 secs Blinds Schedule,, 30 secs Player Rankings.

This solves any burn in to the LCD screen.

I regularly goto a casino in Glasgow that uses a tournament software on a large plasma and the burn in is terrible, but that is caused by only a main screen being displayed all the time with the exception of seating pre-tourney.

Hope this helps!

General Discussion / Re: Minumum Raise in No Limit Texas Hold'em

Rule 31 of the Poker TDA rule set: http://appservicesonline.com/PokerTDABlog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Poker_TDARules_2009-Version2_Final_Handout_pdf.pdf

31. Raises
A raise must be at least the size of the largest previous bet or raise of the current betting round. If a player puts in a raise of 50% or more of the previous bet but less than the minimum raise, he or she must make a full raise. The raise will be exactly the minimum raise allowed (see exception for multiple same-denomination chips Rule 33). In no-limit and pot limit, an all-in wager of less than a full raise does not reopen the betting to a player who has already acted.

Robert's Rules of poker v11 http://www.homepokertourney.com/roberts-rules-of-poker.htm

6. Any wager not all-in must be at least the size of the previous bet or raise in that round.

for example:

BB 200
open raise to 600 total (a raise of 400)
the minimum raise in this instance would have to be 400 more (1000 Tota 200+400+400)

There is nothing specific to pre-flop first raise however, players who wish to raise are already facing a FORCED BET (the Big Blind) and hence first raise pre-flop is covered by this wording.

Help Me / Re: assigning bonus awards
« on: January 05, 2010, 06:43:49 AM »
Best Hand prize would have to be assigned manually on the prizes tab, add the $1 to your buy in to include it into the players buy in, Then create a manual prize which has to be manually assigned when it is awarded.  See below for my upcoming Regional Final for how I set up best hand and 10 8 win.

Suggestions / Re: Rebuy OR Addon
« on: January 03, 2010, 04:35:44 PM »
Selkane,

I know your situation.  Do you really need both add-ons and re-buys enabled - are you tracking players stats etc, if not can you not just call them all add-ons which can be taken as a re-buy during the tourney?  This would allow you to customise the add-ons to only one per-person and would take away manual checking of the player dialogue to ensure people are not using both.  Why get bogged down in logistics when you could keep it simple!

Best regards

Suggestions / Re: Opening Tourneys
« on: December 28, 2009, 10:55:55 AM »
At the moment you can only speficy a single structure to load.  I just tried having a tourney structure load directly from the desktop, but TD did not load the requested tourney, instead ran the default tournament.  The easiest thing you can do is make templates for all your templates and load them when td loads, but you would need to remember to SAVE AS before using them.

Help Me / Re: Extended Display
« on: December 22, 2009, 10:24:02 AM »
for me corey not at all I run the program on a laptop and will be displaying on different lcd screens often so it makes no difference to me as i need to configure the resolution manually for each screen i use.

My suggestion was more for commmercial users in card-rooms who have a fixed set-up but i guess they would be better leaving the td running 24/7 on a dedicated pc anyway.

Perhaps another to do Corey is to have an option to leave the game window in the extended display as you can get it back by clicking on move to main display anyway, this would assist more professional users eg card rooms, casinos etc with using the software.

I use extended display also for the clock, one possible method although Corey would need to confirm this is to save the default tourney with the gaming window already set-up on the extended display.  Or make a new default tourney with your preferred seats, blinds & chips etc then save this as (eg) mydefaulttourney and then under preferences tab, config files, default tournament, select this tourney to load automatically each time you load TD.
