Help Me / Re: duplicate players
« on: August 07, 2006, 10:51:19 AM »
You can work around the problem with the software ignoring the league selection when creating new players by adding the players to the league after you create the player.

- Create your player(s)
- Select the appropriate league in the Leagues pane
- Press Edit Members and check the new player(s)

And yes, points awarded in your tournament will show up on the Stats tab.

Well, the Stats page really only shows summations (and averages) of what is computed for each tournament.  The same code that computes points for your tournament, for example, is used when computing stats, so they should (and will) be the same.

So, check that your stats are for the tournaments you believe they are.  Press the Info button on the Stats tab to see which tournaments were loaded and which passed your filter.

Nope, sounds like a "feature request" to me.  Seems like a rebuy (with or without a bust out) or an add-on could be inserted into the history without affecting the tournament in general, so I'll look into it.

Beta Testing / Re: Name Columns

Weird that you didn't get a stack trace, too.  How were you attempting to rename the column?  Right-click on a column and rename just that column or press the Column Names button?

You can try the beta version of 2.2 if you like.  It's the latest, but it IS still in beta......

Player rankings, when configured to sort by chip count, sorts in DEscending order, meaning the highest chip counts are at the top.

When configured to "sort by rank, name, chip count", you'll get the players still in the tournament first, sorted by name, followed by the players who are busted out, sorted by rank (ascending, so the lower ranks are at the top) and further sorted by name in the case of ties.

When configured to "sort by rank, chip count, name", you'll get the players still in the tournament first, then players who have busted out.  Players are all sorted by rank, then by chip count in the case of ties, and then name in the case of ties with players having the same chip count (chip count is not automatically set to 0 on bust out).

Displayed in these various dialogs is the "Name" of the player, which isn't actually a data field but a combination of several, depending on your preferences.  Go to the Preferences tab and press the Name Format button to configure what is displayed for a player's "name".

Not all of the tokens that display monetary amounts recognize the roundOff attribute.  rebuyinfo is one that doesn't.  I've updated all of the tokens in 2.2 to recognize roundOff and roundOffPoints, where appropriate.

Forgot about the chips part.  There is no way to automatically have certain chips removed from display (which is what I infer that you meant).  But you can quite easily just right-click on a chip (on the Chips tab) and toggle whether or not it is displayed on the Tournament page.

Nope, there's not.  I kept it as simple as possible, because those other attributes, if defined, would rarely if user be used.  Sounds like you found a reason to use them.  I'll put it down on the list of to-do items.

Well, you can always insert whatever message you want at any point in your tournament by modifying your layout.

One way to do this is to create a new Cell.  Copying a cell near to where you want to put the new one is usually best, in that you'll get all the properties of the copied cell.  Set the HTML of the new cell to whatever message you want.  Then for the Default Property Group, uncheck the "Display" checkbox, so that the cell doesn't display.  Then create a new Property Group, make sure "Display" is checked in the new Property Group, and set the conditions of the Property Group such that it is only used in round 5.  This way the cell will only be displayed during round 5.

By doing it this way, you'll always get that message in round 5 for any tournament that uses this layout, which may not be what you want.  A better way to do it would be to create a new cell as in the previous example.  Don't create a new Property Group for the cell.  Instead of placing the text you want to display in the HTML input of the cell, place a token name there (make one up, like <mymessage>).  Then, on the Rounds tab, in the same way in which you changed the text displayed for the <breaktext> token, just edit round 5 and create a token <mymessage> with the message you want to display.

A bit complicated but I hope that's comprehensible.

Beta Testing / Re: Bounty Chips
« on: August 02, 2006, 08:42:15 AM »
Ok, I believe you have found a bug, but it's not as bad as I thought.

First, a player who "keeps" his bounty chip (typically by winning) does not "win" his bounty chip.  In other words, it is tracked separately.  If you show the columns "Bounties Kept" and "Bounty Money Kept", you'll see J Fake's bounty chip show up.

J Fake busted out 4 players, but appears to have earned only 1 bounty.  He should have earned 2.  Here's why:  A Lee and J Kyriakides did not purchase bounty chips.  T Dalton did, for which J Fake earned a bounty chip.  M Chambers also did, for which J Fake should have earned a bounty chip, and herein lies the bug.  M Chambers purchased a bounty chip with his initial buy-in, but then rebought several times before busting out.  That bounty chip should sort of transfer forward to the latest buy-in (rebuy) for purposes of being awarded.

For M Chambers, the story is the same.  He busted out 2 players, each of which purchased bounty chips, and each of which purchased rebuys before being busted out.

Thanks for posting this tournament.

No, should not matter from which version the tournament was saved.  I was actually doing most of my testing with a tournament saved from 2.0.

I've tried this several times, repeating the steps you outlined, and it still works properly for me.

Can you double-check?  And if it still appears to not be working, send the tournament file to me @

OK, so I was out in the heat all day yesterday.  And I think it really affected my judgment.

I figured out the strange displaying of (what I thought was) the rank of the hitman for the winner, which it wasn't at all, but it was definitely a bug and I've fixed it.

I also found 3 other bugs, only to investigate them today and realize they aren't bugs at all.  See, heat affects judgment.

And as hard as I try, I cannot duplicate the bounty-chip anomoly that you're seeing (or that I thought I saw yesterday).  Now everything I try seems to work perfectly.

Hawklight, are you certain that what you saw corresponds with the "Restrict bounties" checkbox on the Game tab?

Some things to note:
- The Use player bounty chips checkbox actually only controls whether or not the buy-in and rebuy dialogs will display the Bounty Amount input
- The Bounty chip cost field only controls what the Bounty Amount input will be pre-filled with
- The Restrict bounties checkbox, although disabled when Use player bounty chips is unchecked, is still respected; remember that players could buy-in and purchase bounty chips, and then the Use player bounty chips option could be unchecked.  Those bounty chips are still in play, so the Restrict bounties option is still used.

Depends on what numbers you're attempting to affect.

For chip values, there is a preference (on the Preferences tab) Use whole numbers for chip values that will turn off fractional chip values everywhere.

If you're attempting to display the prizes on the Tournament page as whole numbers, you can modify the <prizes> token, and add the attribute roundOff="true".  If you're using the built-in layout, edit the Prizes cell (on the Layout tab), and change <prizes orient="horizontal"> to <prizes orient="horizontal" roundOff="true">.  Make sure to do this for Odd Rounds and Even Rounds.

Help Me / Re: Break messages

The text you see during a break (which is simply "BREAK") is controlled by the layout token "breaktext".  By default, it always just says "BREAK".  But, you can override tokens for any given round or break.

On the Rounds tab, edit the appropriate level and press the Tokens button.  Add a token called breaktext and set the value of it to whatever you want.  That should change it for that round or break only.
