Help Me / Re: settings satellite tournament and final table
« on: August 09, 2007, 01:30:44 PM »
The way you would end it would be to perform a chop.  That would bust all of the remaining 9 players out and effectively end the tournament.  By default, they would evenly split any prize money awarded to those positions (ranks 1 through 9), and all tie with rank 1, but the chop allows you to divide things up how you please and assign rankings differently, if you want.

There are also many pre-configured blinds schedules included with the software.  Just load one of the templates on the Rounds tab.

To ignore rankings and database, press the Track Players button on the Players tab and turn off the tracking of players.

You can add video to your layouts: http://thetournamentdirector.net/forums/index.php?topic=669.0

As for video when a player busts out (as in your example), you should be able to do this with the next (minor) version (ie, 2.4).

Help Me / Re: Is there a way to print out the Users Manual
« on: August 07, 2007, 02:36:10 PM »
You can open it in another window by pressing F12, so you don't have to switch back and forth between tabs.

You can also open it in IE and print it from there.  There's a shortcut installed on your Start Menu.

If I understand you correctly, the answer would be no.  The number of rebuys can't be adjusted (without performing or undoing a rebuy).

Beta Testing / Version 2.3.7
« on: August 05, 2007, 07:53:03 PM »
In version 2.3.5, some users saw the error "'mDBViewPlayers.length' is null or not an object" when working with the Database tab.  I could not reproduce this error, but added code to handle what I thought might be the problem and released 2.3.6 to deal with it.  Although this fixed the initial problem, it exposed several more areas in the code that had the same problem.

I still can't reproduce this, but I believe I have fixed it.  Stung a little by the last attempt, I'd rather have a few people who have experienced this issue (and some that haven't) give the next version a try before I release it to the general public.

If you are interested, please download the new version from the link below, try it out, and let me know if you still experience this issue (and/or any other issue) or not.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The TD considers all bust-outs as bust-outs, regardless of whether or not the player buys back in.  The only way to currently work around this is to not bust the player out - instead just rebuy the player.

The software won't automatically adjust your prizes to "fit" into your prize pool, when rounding is enabled.  It can't - it couldn't possibly make a judgment call as to which prize ought to not be rounded should the prizes total to greater than the prize pool.  But you can do it yourself.  Edit the victim prize (the prize you'll be taking $1 from).  You can either check the Amount checkbox in the Override section and enter what the prize amount should be (effectively overriding what the program calculates what the prize should be), or you can enter "-1" in the Adjust by field in the Amount section, to adjust the prize amount down by $1.

Right-click on the Player Rankings page and select Player Rankings Properties.  There you can select what columns you want to see.

Suggestions / Re: Opening new windows for multi-monitors.
« on: August 04, 2007, 05:18:10 PM »
Been working on this for quite some time.  I've explained this a couple of times in various posts on here, but basically it comes down to the framework on which the TD is built.

What I would like to do is have the Tournament window open all the time.  The Settings could be a window that you open when necessary (possibly on a different monitor).  This is already achievable.  The problems begin when a "modal" dialog (that's a dialog that opens on top of a window, and you can't access the window that opened it until you close the dialog - like a "confirmation" (yes/no) dialog).  Basically, when you open the dialog everything goes haywire.  I've tried so many things to work around this but just haven't had any success.

You've got it right, Matt.  Your formula takes care of everything except for the bounty on the previous winner.  To take care of that part, do exactly what you suggested, create a prize that is a bounty on the previous winner, and give it a point value of 1.  No need to give it a cash amount (set it to Non-monetary).

Each player will get the points defined in the Points for Playing.  The person who knocks out the previous winner will also win the bounty prize (of 1 point).  Key word being also.  So the player will get the sum of the Points for Playing and the bounty prize points.

Help Me / Re: Prizes Display

If you are using the default (built-in) Layout, go to the Layout tab and edit the Prizes cell.  In the HTML text, highlight the <prizes> token (make sure you highlight the whole thing, including the less-than and greater-than symbols on the ends).  Press the Insert Token button.  This should open the Insert Token dialog and automatically have the prizes token selected.  Check the "roundOff" checkbox and set it to true.  Press OK.  Press OK.

You might want to save the layout for future use.

Help Me / Re: Vista File Location
« on: August 02, 2007, 10:29:11 AM »
You are correct - I guess I should have mentioned that.  While the program itself doesn't care where it is, the installer does record (in the Windows registry) where it is installed.  This is how it knows where the program is located when you re-install, upgrade, or uninstall.

It's outlined in the user manual.  Just follow the directions in there.  You'll need a utility that can unzip a ZIP file (like Winzip or 7-zip).  Look in the user manual in the Database section.
