Help Me / Re: overall score formula
« on: September 30, 2009, 10:01:37 AM »
i entered it in and it works like i want it to, if you take off the *1000 at the end. no problem there. the only hanging thing i have left is, how to display on the overall score stat in the stats tab. the Tournament Points do not show up, only what is in the overall formula. every player shows 100.000; is there an overall formula to go with this? how do i get just the tournament points formula (100/n)*(n-r+1) to show up in column Overall Score 1?

the formula (100/n)*(n-r+1)*1000...in overall scoring it says Formula Error.

Thanks for the quick reply Corey. Unfortunately, the formula has an error. I have no idea what the error is, it's what TD is telling me. If someone can see and/or correct the error, I would appreciate it. I sucked at algebra in school!

Help Me / overall score formula
« on: September 28, 2009, 01:08:13 PM »
I am looking for a new Overall Score formuls. I currently use (1-exp(-average(scores))) * 100 for Overall Score. I use log((n + 1) / r) for Tournament Scoring formula. I do not use any fancy formula for points in tournaments. basic n-r+1 *50. When I pull up stats on the Stats tab and look at overall score with, say, 8 players, the first player out gets something like 11.111 and the winner gets 88.889 approximately.

What I am looking for is a way for that first place to receive 100.000 for first and, FOR EXAMPLE, 12.500 for 8th if there are 8 players. Basically 1st is 100, 2nd is x depending on number of players in a tournament. It seems like it is giving 1/8 th of 8 for 8 players and going up 11 whole numbers for each place,

8th = 11.xxx
7th = 22.xxx
6th = 33.xxx
5th = 44.xxx
4th = 55.xxx
3rd = 66.xxx
2nd = 77.xxx
1st = 88.xxx

I'd like it to go (using 8 players as an example)

8th = 12.500
7th = 25.000
6th = 37.500
5th = 50.000
4th = 62.500
3rd = 75.000
2nd = 87.500
1st = 100.000

If anyone knows how to make this work working down in a percentage format for any amount of players, it would be a great help!

Help Me / Re: Starting a Poker League...where do I begin?

I agree with Scotty on this one. homepokertourney is where i got some of my info when i started out. TD did the rest. i have a page on my website giving the "formulas" that i use. where i play it's not legal to "social gamble", so we contribute to a trophy fund to give out trophies at the end of the seasons.

General Discussion / Re: TOC Question/Feedback
« on: July 25, 2009, 02:14:21 PM »
I have 20 games per year. once a month i have a No Limit Hold'em and a Pot Limit 7 card stud games. To qualify for either championship (in november), you must win a tournament. that simple. i also have awards for the player of the year (the leader in points). i also use the default overall scoring and call it the "Rock" score. determines best consistent player. my final award is for the top "Hitman", awarded to the person who eliminates the most players. I consider my TOCs true champions tournaments, due to the fact that that's the only way you get in. I really don't have to worry about players not showing up, due to the fact that on my website all tournament dates are posted in January for the entire year and the dates very rarely change. If they do, everyone has a couple weeks notice.

If anyone is interested, please feel free to visit my site. I have pretty much everything members need to know about the season and the TOCs.

Help Me / Re: 7 Stud Layout Help
« on: May 14, 2009, 08:29:01 PM »
I am running a 7 card game along with the usual NLHE. 7 card is our 2nd game of the day. it was fairly popular in the first hald of the season, but attendance is dropping. after this season i probably will offer it as a side game of sorts. i have a very good 3 to 3 and a half hour structure set up. i shuold be able to send the file to you if you like. i have gotten pretty good at running this type tournament. of course it's easy when there are only 10 players! anyway, anyone can reach me at fouracespoker@yahoo.com. please make sure you reference this site as well as "7 card".

Help Me / Re: More Q about points
« on: February 03, 2009, 08:41:05 AM »
no formula needed. do to the Prizes tab, New Prize, edit the info to specify Points instead of Monetary and enter in the points you wish to give to the player that busts him/her out. edit info at the bottom to say "Bounty on ________" That's pretty much all there is to it!

General Discussion / Re: would like some feedback on this, please

Just had one where 2 players split a pot and busting out 2 others in the process. i gave 2 hits to each player (we don't do half-hits). that one took a day or 2 to get right. I am adding 7 card stud in two weeks. i am almost finished with everything and i think it's gonna be a huge hit! can't wait for that!

I am looking to have 7 card stud added to my monthly poker games. Does anyone have a rounds template that would do a 3 hour tournament with either $5,000 or $10,000 chips?

Help Me / Re: Can I split knock out point
« on: January 18, 2009, 12:23:02 PM »
Here's what I did with 2 players being knocked out with the winners splitting the pot:

I had 2 players split a pot while at the same time knocking out 2 others. John & Kevan split a pot with both Kathy and Kenny being all in and losing. John got 1 hit and Kevan got 1 hit each at the time. I needed to make it so that John gets another hit and Kevan gets another hit (2 each) (I am not splitting the points in half or anything like that, each knocked out 2 players, although they split the pot, they are still getting credit for the hits). I just went back and reset the tournament, KO'ed each player in order (I wrote down the order of elimination and who KO'ed that player), KO Kathy with one player, rebuy Kathy and then eliminate again with the other player. then went and Ko'ed Kenny and rebought in Kenny and then KO him again in the same fashion, then finish out the tournament with the rest of the hits.

Don't know how many players you had in your tournament (I had 10 in mine, so it went quick) and what point system you have exactly, but for me, this scenario worked out perfect. Hope this helps you out

Help Me / Re: Adding hits to players
« on: January 12, 2009, 08:58:56 PM »
i figured it out before i got to read this post. i did find a workaround though. i went back and reset the tourney, noting who went out first and by who beforehand. checked the allow rebuys box on game tab. went back in and KO'd each player in order (i only had 9 so it was easy). when i got to the small stack who was technically ko'd first in the hand, i gave one player the hit, did a rebuy for the ko'd, and then ko'd that person again with the other player. then did the same for the next player. the 2nd player was my 50 point bounty in the prizes tab. after the game was over, i went into the prizes tab, added another prize with the exact same bounty, and awarded that prize to the 2nd player. All the points worked out exactly like it was before when i just did a manual adjustment, but this time the hits were recorded.

Sorry i didn't get to post that i found the solution sooner, corey, but thank you for the quick response, as always!

Or is there an easier way?
