Help Me / Re: Black screens and application slow down
« on: February 09, 2018, 03:41:18 PM »
So you are saying that as long as I am using 3.4 & no formula then I am good as far as this helps?

Nothing else I need to do in regards to 3.4 as long as I don't include a formula in the "points for playing" box in the game tab? (No preference or anything else I need to check or uncheck so that the points box is ignored?).

great find, Doesn't seem to help me.

I played a 10 person tourney last month and towards the end (only 1 rebuy), my system was clearly slowing down (such as responding to space bar presses to pause the clock, etc), but I didn't get black screens.  I pressed on towards the end as I was dealing and didn't want stop and close TD and restart it - though I should do this at a break I guess just to be safe.

The only thing in the points formula box is the default wording "The number of points a player receives . . . " that disappears when you click in the box.

I assume there is no other setting I need to turn off if I don't have a formula in their to begin with.

Help Me / rebuy OR add-on, not both . . . . option for this?
« on: December 22, 2017, 11:47:00 AM »
I don't see this on the game tab, but wondered if tournament can be set up such that someone can either rebuy or add-on, not both.

Can keep track I guess, but wonder if it isn't build in somewhere.

I searched for this in help forum.  Almost surprised I didn't ask this before as I usually allow one or the other, not both.

Help Me / Re: Dec 12, 2017 Windows Update breaks TD with "Access Denied"
« on: December 17, 2017, 10:55:01 AM »
For what it is worth, I am running Windows 8.1 (pro) and IE 11.

After update I did get the access denied problem.  I updated to 3.4.2 and all seems right with the world (well, except for the black screen problem  :( ).

Glad I had checked the forum before my update happened!

Help Me / Re: Change payout towards end to include bubble
« on: December 06, 2017, 12:19:25 PM »
That is good to know and that could work,

But, I do note that I have m prize configuration based on percentages and that if I add a new prize and give it a fixed amount, that it adjusts the amount of previous prices such that the total prize isn't over %100 of pot.

This will work perfectly as it is often that guys like to bring in bubble and not even give that person buy-in back, but give a token amount for congeniality and to speed things up.

I was worried that if I added a fixed prize that the total prizes would exceed the total pot (like if you added a new prize with 10% payout then the total payout is %110 of total pot).

But, I also like your suggestion for changing automatic payments so I can offer one of two things, a fixed amount for bubble or change prize distribution to next level (which typically gives bubble more in my scheme).

Great stuff

Help Me / Change payout towards end to include bubble
« on: December 05, 2017, 06:32:39 PM »
So I use automatic prizes/payouts based on my own version of the standard automatic prize/payout template (xml file).

All I want to know how to do possibly more easily is change the payout structure towards end of tourney to add an additional payout.

Scenario is 12 players & tourney would usually pay off top 3.  Tourney gets to bubble with 4 left & players suggest bringing in bubble for small % payout.

I see I could add a prize & give them say 5% or some fixed amount, but then I have to manually change the other percentages.

It could work, but is a bit cumbersome & wonder if something isn't built in to accommodate this.

This is not a chop, as people will continue to play.

Maybe I answered my own question.  Maybe if I designate bubble to get a fixed amount that the % allocated to 1-3 would still figure correctly based on what is left. That could work very well.  Not at my computer to test. :-\

Help Me / Re: player movement screen automatically appears

ahhh, got it, I was looking for a layout screen or a screen behavior screen.  I couldn't figure out that unbalanced tables dialog box was the "player movement" dialog box.

Thanks, - also thanks for noting line item veto.  I didn't really notice that I could do that.

sorry, Corey, I am having heck of a time finding this player movement "dialog box".  I have the player movement screen, but at least during a tournament or on the behavior control I don't see any check boxes.

I think I am looking in the wrong place.

So, usually when you touch the space bar the tourney clock starts or pauses.  But, when I use extended screen and put the tourney screen on the extended screen I can't use the space bar to start and stop the clock, only via the control screen can I pause or start clock.

In fact, I can't even click on the mini-clock on the extended screen, or right click on the turney screen to get those context menus.

Feeling I have some setting box checked incorrectly.

While I am at extended screen questions.  If I send the tourney screen to the extended screen (so I can use the control screen on my laptop so it is hidden from players), then I can't see the tourney screen on my laptop  (the "main" display, or display 1).  Kind of a problem because then I have to swivel my head to find a monitor that is showing tourney screen so I can see what is going on there.

How do I not get the player movement screen to show up after automatic player movement.  I have the box unchecked in preferences behavior that says "show player movement dialog box after automatic seating", but I don't think that is the correct place to fix this (and the player movement screen is showing up when I autoseat).

I just tested a tournament with only 16 players and went about 2 rounds with about 5 bustouts and 3 rebuys and then got the black screens.

I used all your other fixes regarding auto-save.  Just not the enable backups when saving and not starting where I left off (I will try those and certainly see the benefit of the start where left off).

Would it make it worse/better to set the auto-save time frame at shorter interval?

Again will mention this is with Windows 8.1 and the IE11 that I seem to be stuck with.

makes me worried to use for a tourney.  Would hate to not bust out people and do that manually as then my prizes won't calculate for rebuys.   Hmmmmm.  Well, I have a couple weeks to continue testing. :-\

I will try the trick of saving tourney possibly between rounds and restarting the software.

That is what threw me because I am pretty sure (not positive) that my laptop started with windows 8 and I upgraded to 8.1 so I did think that IE10 would be around.

But somewhat convinced since programs and features for uninstall upgrades has NO internet explorer items at all.

Suggestions / text control for <chips> token
« on: November 28, 2017, 10:08:41 AM »
Currently it seems the <chips> token holds control of the font for the chip value in the token itself. (unless I am missing something)

Wondering if that couldn't be left to the global properties or font properties in the layout screen for the cell properties rather than the token.  Seems harder to match fonts working through the token.

So, based on windows support it seems IE 11 is default program web browser for Windows 8.1 and you can't unstill an upgrade since IE11 was native install (and when I look for upgrades to install using your steps above I find none).

Seems there is a way to emulate IE 10 following the steps below (I copied and pasted entire response to rolling back to IE10 on windows 8.1 machine - in red).  Do you think this will work??

You cannot go back to Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8.1. Internet Explorer 11 is the default web browser for Windows 8.1. However you can use Internet Explorer developer tool and use Internet Explorer 10 on Internet Explorer 11 by following these steps:

1.       Open Internet Explorer 11

2.       Press F12 on the keyboard

3.       Click Emulation button or press Ctrl + 8.

4.       Under Mode change “User agent string” to Internet Explorer 10.

5.       You can use IE11 as IE10.

You can also add the site to Compatibility View. For more information refer this link:

Hope this helps. If you need further assistance with Windows, let us know and will be glad to help.
