its not a big deal,  I don't mind using a laptop to control tourney (almost prefer since my near vision stinks, so I need a big screen for controls).
thanks anyway,

Here is the screen I am talking about (attached).

I am pretty sure it has to do with the pixel size of the image in the top cell and something I need to alter there.

I made the image 1024 x 122 and my screen size is 1024 x 768.  Hoping that the top image would fit the width of the screen and that it would sit at the top of the screen and the rest of the layout would come up to it, but the background (black) is creating a border on the top and bottom of the image.

Phaze,

You use an HTC Touch smartphone to control a computer running TD is that correct?  Can you elaborate?  I will search the board.

Help Me / layout help needed - border showing up around image
« on: February 18, 2010, 02:54:24 PM »
Its been a while since I have posted on the forum.  I am using the most recent version of TD (not the 2.6 beta)

Doing a new layout and having an issue with it - although minimally different from my standard layout that I made up.

In my standard layout I just have 2 columns of cells in one row.  The new layout I simply added a row with a single cell (an image) above the other 2 columns.

So the image is 1024 x 122.

There is black space (background color) on top of and on bottom of this image filling the entire row.  It is symetrical, about 10 pixels in height.

I have no padding in either this row or the row below (nor for any column or any cells).  I also have no borders for any cells.

for the top cell (row), I am not specifying any height or width of the image (left at zero's).  Since my monitors are set at resolution of 1024 x 768 I figured I would just let the software auto-fill the image into that cell space.

Any thoughts as to where this black border on top and bottom of image is (none on sides).

thanks

Help Me / Re: Bonus for killer

Use a bounty chip.  Look in the help section under the General tab (section 8 I think) and it explains how to use a bounty chip.

In your case you would make the cost of a bounty chip 50 cents (and probably have to lower the "buy-in" by 50 cents, unless you make the bounty an added cost)

Help Me / Re: Desperate Need of Tournament Scoring Formula

what if you start out with 9 people?  is everyone final table and still 4 places given?

yes, TD can do both things, but it different areas.  You will use game tab for specific tourney and stats tab (overall score) for throwing out the bottom scores and calculating league score.

it helps to know how you determine how many people are in the money for a given tourney.

it helps to tell us what you mean by "in the money"  . . . . in other words, what places are you giving monetary prizes for and does this change based on field size?

also, how do you determine "final table" (how many at final table and is this always the same?)

I understand, although not the part about seating yourself at the same table.

As long as other players are seated randomly, it doesn't matter where you put yourself - you should end up against other players in a random fashion so the program doesn't care where you start out and players shouldn't either, random is random and you are still randomly placed next to other players.

Just a thought.

Certainly tough to build in a remote application to something like an ipod.  Not all users are going to have ipods  :).

How about just using a wireless mouse.  They have pretty good range and a small wireless mouse would sit on a poker table quite well.  I guess some poker table fabrics might not work well with an optical mouse, but suited speed cloth - a common poker cloth - would work very well with an optical mouse.

I just set my laptop up next to my table and I don't have to move anywhere.

So, Corey, for those of us who haven't done the latest update, what do you advise?

  • wait to install update
  • install update and use the posted fix
  • wait until new version of TD comes out that includes the fix as part of the install(?)

General Discussion / Re: Laptop died! During the tournament...
« on: December 16, 2008, 10:34:57 AM »
If you had auto-save on and can get back into the hard drive I would think you would be in good shape.

If you didn't have auto-save on, then you might be out of luck with that tourney.

Good luck.  I have gotten pretty good at making sure autosave is on as I had an issue in a test tourney once and learned my lesson early.

I have my autosave set at 5 minutes, but now that I think of it, I have a newer laptop so I think I will set it for more frequently and also have the auto save for events checked so that it picks up when people are knocked out and such - my old laptop was so slow that the autosave slowed the clock display refresh, so I set an infrequent backup.
