Suggestions / Re: iPad/iPhone Remote
« on: March 27, 2013, 01:30:30 PM »
I tried out a program called Remote HD for iOS. I installed a client on my TD laptop and it works pretty well from iPad. Because our games have 30 players or under I find it much easier to control things with a portable keyboard mouse. Here is the one I use, works well:

Suggestions / Re: Status Update by URL

This topic is exactly what I was looking for. I've managed to output the status to a simple page

I also ported it to our mobile site  --- (works with iphones, not sure if the site works with droid)

Just wanted to say thank you! I've added the HQ blind level announcement to our levels. Everyone gets a kick out of it.

Well, it's been a long time but we've updated our TD background to something much simpler. While the detail on chips and prizes was nice it was a bit hard to see across the room, even on a HD TV. This layout uses an iFrame which connects to the league site and pulls down the last tournament's winner

You have some forward slashes in the URL and the links won't work. Nice collection though

It won't run with IE7 beta either (Windows XP)

I'm not aware of a preview function. What I do is pull up an unfinished but saved event. If necessary I reset the tournament (using reset button) but leave everyone in their seat and then start the tournament.

NJPL uses a system borrowed from Poker School Online to rank each player’s position. Every quarter a new cycle starts allowing anyone to achieve top ranks. Cumulative statistics are also recorded.

The Natural Logarithm Rankings system gives no advantage to simply playing more often; it gives more weight to good results, and less weight to bad results, such that one exceptionally bad result does not kill your ranking and one exceptionally good result will not boost your ranking dramatically.

Calculation details:
Where “X” is finishing place out of “N” players, each player's individual tournament result is valued at:
ln ( (N + 1) / X )
ln = “natural” base for logarithms - a universal number known as “e” = 2.718282.
and “natural logarithms” are logarithms “to the base e” - that is, numbers expressed as powers of “e”.

For example, with 300-player tournaments, a player finishing 1st, 300th, and 300th would rate 1.9046, just slightly better than a player finishing 45th every time, 1.9004.

Then these natural logarithms are converted back into percentiles. To convert the natural log score back to percentile, you need to use this formula:
(1 - exp (-L) ) * 100
The variable L is the average of all the natural log score. The 'exp' means the inverse of natural log.

For example:
Log scores from 3 different tournaments: 1.5, 2.0, and 1.0.
The average of these three tournaments is 1.5.
Then plug that number into the above formula:
= (1 - exp ( -1.5 ) )* 100
= (1 - 0.22313016 ) * 100

- On the right side of the layout right-click on the Last Winner button and select Last Winner Properties
- In the HTML text box on the right side replace the existing code with whatever you like (or if you are curious, leave as-is to be updated on who the last NJPL tournament winner is :) - You can use HTML here or poll a database like I did. Pretty neat eh?
- You will probably want to change the logo. Open the GIF file I supplied in a program like Photoshop. Erase everything and leave it transparent. Insert your logo but leave the background transparent. You may need to use adjust a color matte. Export the GIF and overwrite my logo. If you are comfortable with editing the TITLE field rename the image and change the name in the Tournament director.

Same here! Although I really wanted to help with the software by giving you some feedback I just didn't the time to put a decent report put together. Though I soppose you could look at this a good way: I ran the software for over a month without a single issue!!! Anything I would have contributed would have been suggestions and not bugs. Thanks again!
