Suggestions / Re: display name of "random player"
« on: June 18, 2007, 02:55:01 PM »
Corey

Can you explain the algorithm you used to determine the random bounty players.  Does the software re-evaluate each time a player busts out resulting in increasing the odds the deeper you are in a tournament.  Or is the player determined from the start of the game.

For example in a 26 player tournament, the first one out has a 1 in 26 chance, the 2nd out has 1 in 25 chance.

This is not a bad thing since it keeps the 'suspense' of the random player later in the tourney and giving better odds to players who finish later in the tourney.

What Moose said, and that it is often, but not always, Fn+F4.

Help Me / Re: Projecting on to big screen

You need to check your display driver settings and set your your second monitor in mirrored mode rather than extended desktop mode.  Usually, a mirrored desktop is the default on a laptop, so you should have a setting somewhere for this.

Good luck.

Help Me / Re: Help with automatic seating
« on: March 20, 2006, 09:52:37 AM »
Regarding the seating, it's not like you want but i register everyone in TD as they arrive and collect their money and let people mingle until i'm ready to start, i then assign seats and show show the seating chart and ask every one to take their seats.

Had no idea on the hotkeys to move within the screen set.  That's a great feature.  Thanks for clarifying this out.

Help Me / Re: How to use a presentation remote to control program
« on: March 18, 2006, 11:29:44 AM »
I gather it would depend on the remote.  I used the remote that came with my ATI all in a wonder card to remotely control the mouse and via the ATI software i can assign specific buttons to the TD hotkeys.  For example i have X, V and Space assigned to buttons on the remote.

If you're remote acts like a mouse, it should work.

Help Me / screen sets and timings
« on: March 17, 2006, 07:10:28 PM »
I have a question regarding screen sets and their timing.

I'll try to keep this simple and use the default screen set.

Say i have setup the screenset to rotate between several screens, for example
screen one - 3 minutes
screen two  - 15 minutes
screen three - 5 minutes
screen four - 15 minutes.

Alright, let's say round 1 is 18 minutes, so far so good.  Next is a break which has it's own screen set, when we hit round 2 and return to the default screenset, does it go back to screen one or does it continue where it stopped in round one, in this case screen three.

Hope that makes sense.

Templates, Layouts and Sounds / Re: Looking for sound files

Love it  ;D

What do others use as sound for their tourneys?  I use a cattle call type of sound when there's one minute left in the break and then the wsop banjo theme at the end of the break itself.  I'm going use this one minute remaining wav for the rounds.

Any others with cool sound themes?

Wouldn't showing the seating chart in TD during the tournament accomplish the same thing?  For example, during my tournaments,  I show the seating chart every 10 minutes as i rotate the display between main -> seating chart -> main -> player rankings -> then to main again.

This is accomplished using a screen set.

I'm just curious why you need to print the seating chart changes since i like to see how others run their tournments and borrow the good ideas  :)

ULTRAVNC will allow more than one client connect to a single server?

Yes.  I was able to do two PCs and a laptop as clients connecting to a fourth pc as the server.  I don't know thought if this an atribute specific to ULTRAVNC.  When i was researching the various VNC options, ULTRA seemed the best windows centric one.

Here's a vote for the Ad-hoc break feature.  When we collapse to 2 tables or to the final table i always have a break since everyone has to get up anyway.  Up to now, i've been using the hand timer.

As Moose as suggested, using VNC works quite well.  I use ULTRAVNC server on the TD pc and use the viewer on a second pc and on third laptop.  Works nicely.
