Leagues
« on: October 27, 2010, 05:44:53 AM »
Running 2 separate  leagues, one on a Tuesday and one on Friday. These are 10 week leagues.
not all players play in both leagues.
each person plays £2.00 a week for  each league.
Now we are going to run a separate league ( over 12 months) comprising of both leagues, to buy into casino games. (this will cost members an extra £2.00)
Comprising members from both nights.

However not every body plays in both leagues and not every one wants to be in the casino league
Is there any way of setting this up. so that when running a tournament, we can allocate points to both leagues at the same time.
hope any one who reads this understands what i mean.
thanks in advance

In TD, you can set up multiple leagues. It's what I would suggest to you for this instance. You could call one "Tuesday Night" and the other "Friday Night", or what ever would suit you best. Then, when you run the tournaments, make sure that on the game tab, that it's set for the proper league. Then, in stats, you'll want to click on edit profile. From there, you can set up filters that will tally only the tournaments with specific settings. You'll want to create two filters. One that looks at only the Tuesday night league, the other Friday nights. For tournament scoring, you'll want the formula that you have for the tournaments. For overall, if you just want to add them up, the put "sum(scores)". Otherwise, post back here what you'd like to do for the overall scores, and we'll help you out.  The players in the database can be a part of any number of leagues, so you don't need to worry about that aspect.

I hope I've been able to help, and as always, if I'm not understanding, please feel free to yell at me  ;D

If you send a request to me please send that you got me from here w/your TD name to confirm. Thanks!

Just wanted to chime in that, if I interpret your situation correctly, it would be important to make sure not only are your players members of the appropriate league(s), but that you set the league for each tournament as well (as Magic_fubu mentioned).  That will allow you to filter appropriately on the Stats tab, and make sure points are allocated correctly.

For example, if you just filtered for players in a certain league, the points for a player in both leagues would be the sum of his/her points for tournaments in both leagues.  You would want to also set the filter to grab only tournaments that are part of a certain league.

I hope that makes sense...
