Double prize pool / multiple prize pool
« on: September 21, 2007, 10:06:26 AM »
Hey.

As many others I run tournaments with a double prize pool (100$/300$).

It would really be appreciated if a feature handling this will be possible.

But until then, is there any way of working a temporary solution? ... any ideas?

 ??? ??? ??? ???

Hi

In our pokerclub we are hosting a tournament called "wildwest", a player can buyin from 100 - 300. For every 10 they use on the buyin, they recieve 1000 chips.

Please excuse me my bad english.

Hi Corey.

Great software!

The double price pool would be a really great addition to your program. It makes it possible to play a low budget tournament, and a high roller.

I see the problems by adding this, but I think I found an easy solution;

You could simply add another "bounty" option. It should work as the bounty works today, just called ad-ded pot (or whatever).
This way, you can make custom prices for the added part.

Furthermore: about the buy-in screen. Is it possible to make a screen where you just check what a player bought inn. As it is today, I have to add players one at a time, because some players don't buy the bounty. With a double price pool this would be even more necessary.

Hoping for the best

How does a double prize pool tournament even work?

DK Player: if the bounty were removed from the buy-in and a new dialog added to buy bounties, you still have a multiple step process.  I don't see how this saves you any time or effort.

Hi Corey.

Double prize pool works just like a regular tournament. There is no change in the way the game is played, and the double prize poll has no effect on the strategical way you would play.

You can pay either e.g 100$ or 500$.

Lets say theres 20 players and the payout is 50/30/20%, and 10 players have paid 500$, the rest just 100$.

All payers can win from the main pot (20x100$)
Winner will win 1.000$, 2.=600$, 3.=400$ -> This can be won bu all players.

The payout from the double prize pool will then be:
(10x400$) 1.=2.000$, 2.=1200$, 3.=800$ -> This can only be won from a person who have paid 500$.

If your final position is 4. place (and you paid 500$), but none in the first 3 positions have paid 500$, you would win 2.000$.
But if you win (and you paid 500$) you'll get 3.000$.

-----------------------------

About the buy-in screen. I Just meant, it would be really easy if there just where some columns (player name and e.g. buy in/bounty/house contribution/double prize pool) where i can just check them with a "√", and of course a add-player button.

Any chance on the double prize pool ?

Anyway, I've got another idea.
Some people have been asking about a barcode scanner.

How about a fingerprint option for buyin/rebuy/addon.
Imagine; Put you finder on the scanner (you can buy one for less than 20$), a popup with a buy in/rebuy/addon.
(maybe with software from a other site http://www.newfreedownloads.com/find/fingerprint.html or sourceforge)...

The request has been put on the to-do list, but there are a lot of other higher priority things on that list...

As for the scanner: there's no specific integration in the TD for this type of tool, nor will there likely ever be, but there are a few features added to make this work, like the ID field on the Player record, and the Search feature on the various dialogs (add players, buy-in, bust-out, etc).  If the scanner (be it barcode or fingerprint) can enter an ID number when the finger/barcode is scanned, as if someone typed it on the keyboard, then you should be able to lookup players in the TD using the scan.

I using C-pen 20 to read the barcode for tickets that they ordered by website. Using CODE 39-barcode and it work fine for us. But we cant use it in TD due that is not included yet.

When we making a big tournament we do req. tickets to check for that person are right to enter, other will not able to enter.
So every tournaments we using 2-3 pc/laptops for checking tickets with barcodes.

I'd say the chances are low.  Sorry.

Check out my post at http://thetournamentdirector.net/forums/index.php?topic=600.msg8360#msg8360 with a method for doing two pools.  It doesn't do autocalculating, but its pretty straightforward to manage if the number of players is not too large.
