Title: Post Links to your Tournament websites here
Post by: CanopicJar on November 13, 2006, 01:52:26 PM
Currently I use blogger to post the results of my tournaments, which I have just started doing.  I use blogger because it is free and the domain name is not too long.  I am sure there are better options out there, so lets use this space to post a link to your site and maybe tell why you use that site, and what you do and do not like about it.

My website is http://backdoorholdem.blogspot.com

I just use my free space supplied by my server, plenty room, easy to do.
TD makes it simple to keep results up to date.

My ISP doesnt allow for naming of the included website.  You are assigned a name, so it makes it kind of lame.

$8/year domain name and free hosting from GoDaddy.com
We use StatsGenie to archive our stats, and other general info can be found on our own site.

I knew I could get the domain for $8 but I didnt know that GoDaddy has free hosting.  On the GoDaddy site, it says their free hosting is ad-based.  Is this what you use?  $3.99 per month is their lowest rate for normal hosting.

Wow.  Thats a quality site!  :o

Thx Man!   I'll probably be doing a redesign soonish -   will keep it looking cool -  but cut down on load times etc.   It should be pretty cool.

On the GoDaddy site, it says their free hosting is ad-based.  Is this what you use?

It is indeed, although their adverts are easily....circumvented.

JonnyRockets, that is a wonderful looking site--makes me think I'm got MUCH work to do with mine!

After looking at some of your sites, I think I should remove mine.
Some cracking sites, what did my headmaster use to say "I must try harder", I think he was right.
Anyways keep up the good work.
Any updated sites let us know, its nice to see whats going on.

Well we have only been going for about 6 weeks and it is going well. Mainly pub games at the moment but I will be opening it up for a place for other leagues to host their own ones.

Yeah, johnnyrocket, you got way too much time to be doing all the those graphix... I wanna steal your idea and do the same thing, but then,,, uhhhh I don't that much time...

but I bet its pretty easy... one quick pic, clean out the background and save the person for anytime you need to use him... A couple card graphics.... It was the background there that would frustrate me!

Great thread idea...

We are into our second season and I prepare all of the reports and email them to our series members on a weekly basis as a PDF. Where the game is at my house, we have kept it closed and not published on the web but we are thinking about web reporting right now. One of our members is doing a database for all of the reporting and he is pretty much done the development. After seeing these great sites, (Especially JohnnyRockets), we may well be inspired to take the web approach.

Thanks all...

Hello - long time no post!

All images on the site are made with Photoshop.   Saying that - you could use PaintSHop Pro, Macromedia FreeHand, GIMP,  whatever you have available!  don't hesitate to pm or email me with questions.

I've set up a free discussion forum using proboards.com and this is great for posting results quickly, publishing details of home games, and keeping the friendly rivalry going. All helps to foster our club ethos and strengthen ties, without the overhead of keeping a website up to date. Future developments will be to store club images here too, and take orders for club polo shirts etc.

The forum comes with all levels of security/moderating built in.

Have a look at www.perthpokerclub.proboards58.com if you like - you'll need to register free first but if you drop me a note I'll delete your account afterwards.

Nice looking site, but the banner at the bottom of the page makes it look a little cheap compared to the other high-class banners.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Wheeling Poker Club (http://www.wheelingpokerclub.com)

I have been running this site for some time now.  Its base is the Mambo CMS but there have been many custom modifications made since I first started.  I have it almost self updating now.  I simply export out my TD results to a csv and upload them to my site.  A script processes the file and updates all of the statistics and trophy pages.  This saves me a ton of time keeping the site current.

I also have a regististration component that allows members to view/register/unregister for events.

Mike

Just updated the layout of our website.

I wanted to have pages for all the information of when and where we play but also to lay the results out like news stories. I used a dreamweaver template so I can change the tops and bottoms of each page easily instead of going each one individually.

Here is my league website: www.satellitepoker.com.au

We have been operating about 18 months.

The current leaderboard imports the default xml file and just updates points on the fly. It is very basic. I have been working with a coder to develop a new system in a joomla componsnt that will be live soon.

I have taken a few ideas from here and there to get to the end result i'm heading for.

Thanks to Skelly for the graphs idea, and thanks to yahoo for the trophies idea.

All will be revealed when it's complete.

My main goal as mentioned I want to import the default format and have the site handle all calculations for leaderboards and totals.

The APL (http://www.playapl.com) claim to be.

On another note, I have previously tried to contact your league (months ago) via the contact section, but had no response.

I think it's safe to say that they're right.

We're in 4 countries with a million and change active members.

As for contacting corporate, they've been very swamped with new changes in WPTAPL as well as with changes within the WPT itself.  If you contacted them via email I do know that some email programs were placing their email in the SPAM folder.

There is a number you can call to speak to memberservices (316) 689-0600

Maybe I can help though. I'm a League owner with them.

--------------------------------------------------edited later ----

Wait, you confused me.  When you mentioned APL, I thought you were shortening our name. We used to be called the APL and as far as I'm aware, still hold the trademark.  Hmm, might need to talk to someone about this one.

Sorry to confuse. I was talking about our league. The World Poker Tour Amateur Poker LeagueTM.  The official amateur league of the World Poker Tour. http://www.wptapl.com
