Help Me / Re: Tournament Process
« on: May 25, 2006, 10:08:56 AM »
If I understand what you are asking; either way is a format for doing a tournament.  Normal tournaments are to move players as others get busted out, but a "Shootout" tournament is when you have all the tables play down to one player and then have those five players play.  If you want to run your tournament in that format, all you need to do is go into the TD program and under the "Tables" tab, there is a "Settings" button.  Then, unckeck the option that says "Automatically suggest player movement."

That . . . or, all you really have to do when the suggested movement window pops up is hit "Don't move players," but if you'd rather not deal with that, you can turn that off.

Either way is just fine to run a tournament.

Help Me / Re: token or calculation display

Well, if you're taking this prize money out of the prize pool created by the buy ins, at the moment the best way to do this, I think, is adding the prize to the list under the "prize" tab.  There's an option to allow you to manually assign this prize to a player after the tournament's completed.  You can call it whatever you want to and I believe it will show up under the "prize" cell in the display.  I'm not completely sure though since I've never added a manual prize before.

Suggestions / Re: Sign-in Sheet

Personally, I think the difference between " " and "yes" would be just fine.  You don't need the checkmark really, just some way to easily tell between the two.

Suggestions / Sign-in Sheet
« on: May 19, 2006, 12:32:32 PM »
I noticed that after the update, the sign-in sheets now have the word "no" in the "paid" column if that player hadn't paid when you created the sheet.  Personally, I liked it better when it was blank cause I just used it as a check box.  Is there a way to remove the word "no" from the "paid" column when I create the sign-in sheet?  (like, is there a preference for that that I'm just missing . . . which is likely the case . . . cause I'm just like that :P ).  I mean, it's not a big thing cause I just mark over the words, but when going through pages of people, it was easier to spot my checkmarks in a sea of white space ;)

Help Me / Re: Easily Navigate Many Players?
« on: May 17, 2006, 11:10:26 PM »
Well, at the moment, the best you could do is make different leagues to organize everyone by.  Like an "A League" for everyone whose last name starts with A and so forth, since the "stats" page can filter all of the different leagues together as one for the stats.

What I do for my just under 100 league is print out a sign in sheet that has every player listed on it in the same order they're in the database.  Then it's easier for me to go through and find them in the database when I've got a paper in front of me.  *shrugs*  But, with nearly 1000 people . . . gosh, I dunno . . . get less friends maybe?   :P

Help Me / Re: Buy in when adding player to tournament
« on: May 16, 2006, 09:37:46 AM »
Well . . . I guess on the buyin window you could edit their "buyin" to reflect an addon before the tournament starts.  You can also edit their starting chip count from that window as well.

While I don't believe you can create a cell that actually countsdown to the end of the rebuy period, I'm sure you can create a cell with the levels when rebuys and addons end.

Help Me / Re: REBUY'S

Still can't get it to stop scrolling the menu's that I don't want. I clicked on "don't scroll" tables menu and then the tables menu comes up. When I right click again, the option is shows is "Scroll Tables Menu", and that's while I'm already on the tables menu page. I wouldn't mind it scrolling those except that then we can't see the current blinds. Once we missed one and was looking to see, but it was on the wrong page.

  Thanks,
    BD      :)

If you're talking about what I think you are, you're looking for an option under the "Layout" tab called "Screen Sets."  This option sets the automatic changing of the screen from window to another.

Thanks Corey! I'm ok now but someone else may hit this snag. Glad it will be an easy fix tho.

Tim - We used the same formula too for a while but decided we wanted to give the top 3 places just a BIT more for their effort so they get a bonus 1,2,3 points for 3rd, 2nd, 1st place.
We LOVE to rub it in the other players noses when were on top!   ;D

Oh I understand that.  I only use the formula to keep track of the "placement points."  On the website, a player's total points = placement points + prize money won. So, the winners get around 60 extra bonus points ;)  This is the first year we've used a points system to arrange our championship game at the end of the year.

That's odd.  I don't have that problem at all with the formula.  Of course, that's most likely because I use the simpler (n-r)+1 formula :P

What about adding a 5 or 10 second delay for the 'unbalanced tables' popup box to open?  That would give time for the bust-out sound to play.

Personally, I think this would be a bad idea, just because the way I run tournaments, I don't want to wait 5-10 seconds to figure out if I have to start moving someone; I want to know right away.  *shrugs*  Just my opinion.

Seemingly runs smoothly again.  Good job, man :)

Help Me / Re: Is there a way to set a variable starting chip amount?
« on: April 28, 2006, 10:10:00 PM »
You can do it manually at the Buy-in window.  There's a place for "Chips received."

And ya know . . . most tournaments do start with the same number of chips ;)  I would think that there's not many tournaments that do something like you are.

Here's the logos I've created over the years for the Oregon Poker Tour.  Note, that's not the State of Oregon; it's the City of Oregon in Ohio ;)

These are simple enough: I used photoshop and they took me around 10 minutes total after fooling around with options.  As you can see, in 2005 I added the year simply because it was clear we had become a poker league after a full year of playing.

Suggestions / Re: Points attached to a player
« on: April 25, 2006, 07:34:04 AM »
Well, actually, you can do this under the prizes tab.  Just select "bounty on player" under the recipient section, then select "non-monetary" under the "amount" section.  All you have to do then is name it and put the amount of points you want to award the hitman.  Not that hard and it would only take a second or two to set up.
