Help Me / Re: Token for name of 1st or 2nd place winners etc.
« on: May 30, 2007, 09:57:46 PM »
Hmmmm, ok, i have tried a few things with no luck.

I found a token called POINTSFORPLAYING and can't get it to display anything.
(although, i would like to create my own token for this anyway)

I tried using ASSIGN command to set diff variables to the values i want and use them in a cell to display the points system.
(again, no luck, it seams the math fuctions only work in the points for playing area and can not be accessed from a cell?)
I am new to Html coding so maybe i am just not aware yet of how to do math in Html.  I will have to look into this more.

Help Me / Token for name of 1st or 2nd place winners etc.
« on: May 30, 2007, 06:14:02 PM »
I have looked around your site for awhile looking for this answer but can't seam to find it yet.

What is the variable name that would show the name of the player who busted out 3rd or 4th etc?
(I just want to access his name and display it in a cell)
What is the variable names used to show the number of points a player would get if they busted out 2nd or 3rd?
(I need this info for a menu that shows before and during the tourney, not at the time they bust out.)

What i am trying to setup is a POINT SYSTEM menu to show how many points a player will get for each position.

1st = 690
2nd = 380 or whatever

but this point system changes with the number of players so i need a way to look up the value that TD is going to assign to the player that busts out in each of these positions.  I have a formula in TD now which assigns these points when they bust out and shows the points in the ranking screen but wanted to have a list on the main screen showing how many points they could expect if they got 2nd or 3rd etc.

Help Me / Re: Tips for making slow systems run TD better?
« on: April 19, 2007, 10:00:46 PM »
Well i have been playing with TD for awhile now and my slow laptop has hated most every minute of it.

But just recently i used the option to stop showing seconds on the main clock.
I had done this with the other clocks already and didn't notice much differance.
But now, wow, TD runs GREAT!!  No delay any where at any time.
Bust outs are fast and easy with no pausing of the clock needed.
So if your computer is slow, just use this code to stop showing the seconds on
your clock cells.  Be sure all visable clocks (time left)  (time till break) etc use this too.

showSeconds=false

How much faster is it?

Well, Task Manager used to show TD as using 90-100% of my CPU power on the main screen.  Mostly 100%
Now TD uses 50-60% cpu power.  Mostly 50%  An Amazing differance.

thanks man.  You will find it gets more interesting when there is a dollar amount associated to the chips.
you know just how much you are risking when you bet and big pots look alot more temping to stay in
when you know there is $20 cash in it.  lol.

Well we had our cash game and all worked out great.  It was easy to go in after and edit the cash out amounts for each player.

You all might like to try this idea rather than a tourney sometime.  My guys all loved it.

We started with 1000 in chips each, or 1000 cents, thus, $10 buy in.
chip break down was 20x5 cent, 20x10 cent, 10x25 cent, 5x50 cent, and 2x$1 for a total of 10 bucks.
blinds were 5 and 10 cents all night.  you can cash in and out when ever you like
and rebuys were unlimited.

I just edited the player page to reflect the players cash out amounts and left the rest of the stats alone.
If someone cashed out early but made the most money overall, you can just move him up in the rank to first
to show him as winning the Cash Game.  Sort all players by their cash out amounts in this way, while leaving all
other players that busted out broke in the order that they busted out.  This will result in a good stats report
to track player proformance over many games.

Help Me / Can i edit date of tourny after it has ended?
« on: April 01, 2007, 08:12:03 PM »
Ok, here is a different sort of problem for ya.

I set my computer date to 2006 in order to run a trial version of another program which had expired.
It worked fine, allowing me to use it past its trial date.

Last night i ran a Tourny forgetting to change the date back on my laptop.
So now i have a saved tourny dated in 2006 not 2007.
Is there a easy way to go in and edit this date after the tourny is over?
Or must i change my date to 2007 and rerun this tourny?

Ha Ha.  :)  I know, but you must admit that it would be a cool feature.

I will be having a cash game this weekend and will try manually setting the ranks and prizes etc from the
Players page and see how the stats work out for it.  Just thought that a option to manually enter chip count
or total take at bust out time would be cool.  I will let you think about it, maybe you will come around.  lol.

If anyone thinks this would be cool, help me out here.  Lets convince Cory that this idea rocks.  ;)

I would like to see some options added for Cash Games.

Cash Out - rather than bust out, allows you to enter the amount of chips/money the player cashed out with.

Player Rankings - (The one you can add to a cell/token) add a Total Take column and allow sorting by this column and have players ranked by the amount of money they made that game.

Give points etc like in a tourny but based on the amount of money made not when the player left or was knocked out of the game.

Cool, wondered if it would upload and work ok.  Glad to see someone likes it.  Can't wait for the new version of TD so i can add the points and prize amounts to the rankings window too.  I think the code in the template is set to show it now, just need the new version for it to start working.

I don't see it as a huge hassle either but have an idea that might make it less painfull.  Why not, (rather than have a pop-up confirmation box you have to move the mouse to and click OK on), just make it so you click on the NEXT ROUND button twice.  Or use the Hot Key twice.  You could still have a pop-up box asking to confirm with a OK button, but allow confirmation by also just clicking the Next Round button again.  This way you can quickly double click the button when you want to change rounds without needing to move the mouse to center screen or where ever the Box will be to click the OK button.  Just an idea.

Can we get a rake option for bounties?  And an option to not pay the winner of the tourny for his kept bounty?
Just a couple options i would like to use to collect a bounty pool for a prize on the winners head for next game.
Not a biggy, i can do it manually.

Why do you tease us like this?  Now i can't sleep at nights thinking about all the cool stuff i can add to my layouts.  Oh well, only a few more sleepless weeks of waiting.  Better than a few months i guess.

General Discussion / Re: Maximum no. for a poker table?
« on: February 26, 2007, 09:06:06 PM »
The only concern i have in table size is the card odds.  If you have 10 players you have 2 cards each, plus the table cards and burn cards = 20 + 5 + 3 or 28 cards.  Thats just over have the deck.  Each player you add after that will make it more and more likely that any given card needed for a straight or flush etc will be out.  Not many players fold a ace so if a flush is out and you don't have it, someone will.  With 10 players or less, there is about a 50% or better chance that its still in the deck.  If i had to pick from having 2 tables of 7 or one of 14 i would go with 2 tables.  Then when you have second or third  nuts, then its more likely you can get away with winning with it.  I think its more fun and less frustrating.

General Discussion / Re: Rebuy's
« on: February 26, 2007, 08:49:29 PM »
the 5 - 10 are the Blinds, the 10 - 20 part is the Min bet entered in the stakes area of the rounds setup.

Some of the players we have are new to the game and keep asking what they can bet and when.
So on my main screen it shows the blinds  5 for small, 10 for big and then below that it shows the Min bet for the Flop (10) and then the Min bet after the turn card is out (20).  I also changed it from saying Stakes to saying BETS so they understand it better.

Here is my main screen.
If you have any questions, fire away.  I would be glad to help.

Well i am sharing, might as well show ya my current layout.  I will include the template if you wish to use this.

I know a number of guys were interested in having rankings on the main page
and also having a pre tournament screen showing stats
aswell as having buttons on the main screen.
This might save you some time.

Put the logos in your images folder, and the YTDSTATS goes in your saves folder.  Just export your stats to this file so your stats will show rather than mine.  If you have more players than me, then you will have to edit the stats cell height and width so all your players will show, or turn on the scrolling option.

EDIT: I just got thinking, your path to your saves and image folders will be different from mine.  If so you will not see an image.  Just right click the box where the image should be and edit the text in the HTML box.  i.e. Change the C:\GAMES to C:\PROGRAM FILES or whatever your path to TD is.

<iframe src="C:\Games\The Tournament Director 2\saves\ytdstats.html" height=370 width=780 scrolling=no></iframe>

Here is a cool background i found.  I used it for my Rankings page.  Here is a sample and the original if you wish to use it.

This is the code i used to setup the fonts and move the text down into the middle of the page.

<br><table border=0 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0><tr><td style='font-family: Arial; font-size: 36pt; font-weight: bold; color: #000000; filter: dropshadow(OffX=0, OffY=0, Color=#000000);'><br><br>Player Rankings</td></tr></table>

The layout properties are:
times new roman
bold
font size 24
