OK, a couple of real quick points. I did find a bug here, but I don't think it has any real affect, particularly nothing like you are describing. Prizes tab -> Automatic -> Configure -> Override -> select prize level -> OK -> OK. The prize list on the Prizes tab is updated to reflect the new prizes, but the computed prize values were $0. They showed as $0 in the Game window as well. Clearly an update should happen here and is not. However, I next bought in a new player and the values immediately updated to reflect the correct amounts.
There were no events between the start of the tournament and when I noticed prizes had changed that should have any impact on automatic prizes. The only events in that time period were one break and one bust-out.
While this may have been true in version 2, pretty much everything can affect Automatic Prizes in version 3. This is because this feature allows for more than just the number of buy-ins to control the prize list. The prize level can be selected via a formula, which could use the time of day if it wanted to. Your Automatic prizes may not have been configured that way, but the software was still checking constantly.
I've read and re-read your description, and what it boils down to (for me) is this:
- The prizes displayed on the Prizes tab that they were 65% and 35%, and with a pot of $304, the prizes were correctly computed to be $198 and $106 (rounded).
- At some point, the prize values changed to $213 and $91, which just happens to be 70% and 30% (rounded). The values were $213 and $91 both on the Prizes tab and in the Game window. However, the Prizes tab still said the prizes should be 65% and 35% (or maybe you didn't notice if they had changed or not?)
- Upon discovering this the following day, you load the saved tournament and the Prizes tab still has the values of the prizes as $213 and $91, but it NOW has changed the percentages to be 70% and 30%.
What think you now?
I have no idea. "Mysterious" is a good way to describe it, especially if there's nowhere in your configuration that has 70% and 30%. It's very odd that the program would default to those exact values. The Automatic Prizes feature got considerably more complicated in version 3, so it's pretty easy to believe there will be some bugs. I can't imagine at this point how what you've described could happen, so it's difficult to even know where to begin.
