Templates, Layouts and Sounds / Re: Clock-Help
« on: November 26, 2023, 01:44:01 AM »
Sure.  The <clock> layout token as several variations.  I would recommend:

<clock format="hMMSS:">

This will only display the hours if the number of hours is greater than zero, and will display the hours with no leading zeros when the number of hours is less than 10.  It will display the minutes and seconds using two digits, so values less than 10 will have leading zeros.  Some examples:

2:05:00

05:00

00:10

If you want the hours to have leading zeros, add an extra lowercase h: <clock format="hhMMSS:">

If you want the hours to always be displayed, use uppercase H letters: <clock format="HMMSS:"> or <clock format="HHMMSS:">

Hey Corey, found this looking for something else, but is there a way to display the time WITHOUT the leading zeroes? I don't need hours as our longest levels are 40 minutes.
I've looked through the Preferences Tab, but I haven't found it. Maybe I'm looking with my mouth.

Help Me / Re: Bringing all data to a new computer
« on: November 25, 2021, 04:23:12 PM »
Hey Corey, I'm looking at the FAQ. I won't be backing files up since I'm replacing a laptop that died. The plan is to pull the old hard drive and copy to the new one. Hoping if I install the software and copy in there won't be any issues. Anything I need to keep in mind?

Help Me / Re: League management formula.
« on: September 16, 2020, 09:17:14 PM »
This is a simplified version of the Dr. Neau formula, which you may read about here.

square root of the prize pool
DIVIDED BY
place finishing in + 1

Example: $30 buy in, 30 players. Points for:
1st: 15    2nd:  10    3rd: 7.5     4th:  6     5th: 5    7th: 3.75    9th:  3   14th:  2  20th: 1.42

It rewards those who do well in large tournaments (or high buy-in ones), and it goes up inversely to reward those who make it deep consistently. It's harder to go from 4th to 3rd than it is from 14th to 13th.

We do different event variations and different buy ins and play 8 events per year (count only your best 6 scores so those with perfect attendance don't dominate our year-end free roll).

General Discussion / Is anybody playing home games?
« on: May 27, 2020, 11:47:31 PM »
Some states are still on full lockdown.
Some states have opened more stores/services/businesses, but if you ain't there ya gotta git' the heck home.
Some states let you be out and about, just keep your social distance.
Some states let you be, yanno, adult about it all.

So that begs the question, are any of you back to playing home games?

I know a few casinos/card rooms are open, with partitions between players and dealers. It's like playing in a phone booths. But are any of you having games in your homes yet, whether your state/county says yeah or nay on it? I do a big tournament at my house the last weekend in March around my birthday ... poker all afternoon, drink and grill all evening and howl at the moon at night. I already rescheduled it once, for this weekend, but we're just not ready, so I'm shooting for the weekend after July 4th.

General Discussion / Re: Straddle in Tournament Play
« on: May 27, 2020, 11:20:04 PM »
If there's a benefit of straddling in a cash game is that you assume the option to check or raise like the big blind if nobody raises the straddle ... although most hands an advanced player will stick a raise in there looking at all that involuntary money that's out there before a card is seen ...

General Discussion / Re: Fourteen years...
« on: November 14, 2018, 01:10:44 AM »
Yup, that's me too. I know I ran a tournament with it in 2005 for our housewarming, and I may have done some in my place before that, the end of 2004.

I too use TD2. I have Version 3 but have never set it up, mostly because we've gone from 9-10 events a year to about 4 and sometimes we use an app someone has on a tablet. (But a couple players enjoy the bells and whistles).

It's crazy how the program has evolved from Version 1 to everything it does now.

Well done, Corey.

General Discussion / Re: BB Ante tournament
« on: July 21, 2018, 04:42:46 PM »
If the smallest chip is 100, might I suggest you have a 20K starting stack. Your 1st level an't be lower than 100/200 so players get 100 big blinds to start, but with 30 minute levels I get 75 BBs to start is okay.

When the antes start (I'd say no earlier than the 3rd level), they'll be the same as the BB. For you that'd be either 300/600 or 400/800.

I don't know what these tournaments do when they get down to the last few players. When heads up is a player really posting 2 BBs (a BB and an ante) every other hand?

Not sure if I'm crazy about this format. The pros love it. Whenever a new style comes out, it seems to be mixed. The rebuy tournament (full rebuy allowed any time you fall under 1/2 starting stack) went the way of the dodo, but the re-entry (must bust out to get a new starting stack in a new seat) lives on. The "mixed-max", where a tourney starts with 9-handed tables then goes to 6, then 4, then heads-up matches when the field gets to 4/8/16, was all the rage then flamed out; I really liked that and our group still uses this for our end-of-year bash. Who knows if the BB ante sticks around.

"Adz" has not been active on this forum in over 4 years. Might want to go into his profile, find an email addy, and contact him directly.

Appears so.

To deal PLO8 I think you need a helmet. To keep your head from exploding.

Ran my first tourney in a long while tonight and had this issue, was able to fix it later with the patches.

Corey, you may want to "sticky" this thread so it appears at the top of the support section.

Suggestions / Re: Re-Entry / Rebuy with new seat
« on: September 09, 2013, 09:59:38 AM »
We did a re-entry tournament earlier this year. Set it up as a rebuy tournament and the player "rebought" for the same amount as the original buy-in for another stack to make the pot right. We didn't "add" another player, but we use Dr. Neau's formula (search on it here) for points and if you re-enter you lose 20-30% of your points. We kept a re-entering player in the same seat, but you could just have them draw a card among open seats and move them in TD.

Personally I think it looks awesome. Clean lines, concise and has all the pertinent information. I might make the clock a different color than white (maybe a pale blue or yellow) to create some kind of contrast.

Help Me / Re: Wrong sounds firing before a break
« on: March 10, 2012, 10:29:32 PM »
You would have to create an event with conditions like:

isRound and ((roundNum = 2) or (roundNum = 4) or (roundNum = 6) or (roundNum = 8 ))

Actually, that wouldn't be too hard too do, or customize to the structure of the event. My question is, do you really need the isRound? If you're specifying a round number, wouldn't it know that it indeed is a round (i.e. not a break)?

Help Me / Re: Wrong sounds firing before a break

nextIsRound was added in 3.0.

Since it wasn't in version 2, the variable nextIsRound would evaluate to undefined and probably produce an error in your formula.

When I reached the 2-hour mark last night I had that notion, but I could have sworn it worked in the last event of last year.

So is there a solution that doesn't involve "Upgrade to 3.1.1?" (I eventually will, but that's besides the point)

Help Me / Wrong sounds firing before a break
« on: March 08, 2012, 01:05:15 AM »
Ran my first tournament in a while last weekend, not running 3.1 yet but I think I upgraded to 2.5.12 since the last event.

Is NextIsRound not defined in 2.5.12? I ask because my sound script isn't working like its supposed to. I have a "the blinds are going up" sound that fires at the end of every level, except the level before a break ("We're now on break")

When the conditions for the "We're now on break" sound are
(!NextIsRound) && (state = 2) && (secondsLeft = 0)             (this used to work correctly)
"We're now on break" fires at the end of EVERY level

When it's
(NextIsRound = 0) && (state = 2) && (secondsLeft = 0)
"The blinds are going up" fires at the end of every level, including the one before the break where the other should fire.

It all worked correctly before, what am I doing wrong or what is the correct condition command for the end of a level right before a break?

Oddly enough the sound the fires at the end of the break works correctly .... (!isRound) && (state = 2) && (secondsLeft = 0)

On the event list, "Break is over" is ahead of "begin a break" which is ahead of "level ends"

I've spent 2 hours trying to fix this to no avail. Help?
