Help Me / Lag
« on: March 31, 2017, 10:52:28 PM »
Hi Corey,

I have no idea whether this issue is related to the recent wok around that we implemented for the 'latency' topic but I now have a far more serious problem.

Tournament opens fine and seems to operate as normal, but when I try to make any typed amendments, for instance message in the notes box or perhaps to change the tournament title the keystrokes do not respond for some considerable time.

When refreshing tournaments the software is taking 3-4 seconds for each tournament which is much longer than previous.

I have reworked the mshta fix, emptied cache files and checked for viruses and/or malware and my system appears to be clean. All other software seems to work OK on my pc.

Last updates were done on 30th March but none relevant to IE just MS Office

Dunno if anyone else is experiencing this problem, but it's rendered my TD unusable.

Expecting a few pals around this evening do you have any ideas please?

TIA

Hi Corey, I've noticed recently (since the implementation of the workaround) that my PC is working very hard when TD is open. It may be a coincidence and of course it is still much better than it was, but I would be interested to know if anyone else has experienced a 'pulsing' of the hard drive activity light.

Hi Corey, Great work with the lagging fix by the way, not perfect but much, much better and far less frustrating.

Here's one that you may be able to help with. I been experimenting with a new formula to calculate player points which includes the (bc) buy-in as part of the equation.

If it were an unlimited rebuy it may transpire that one player buys in more times than another and I would like that to be part of the calculation.

For instance if the buy in is £5 the total points would be divided by 5 but if that player had re-bought once then it should be divided by 10.

The 'BC' option merely represents the initial Buy-In.

Any ideas please?

Ok thanks for the reply, here's hoping. Interestingly my daughter has a laptop which was a 7 to 10 upgrade and I installed TD on there as an experiment. No latency at all, how frustrating. It's the same windows build number as my PC and the only things that I can imagine being different are the fundamental set up, she is disabled and we got the laptop through an agency and there are limited changes that you can make to the settings as the user is not an administrator, above that I'm utterly baffled. I mean could be a chipset issue? ie VIA/Intel something along those lines ?

Any news on this issue, it is becoming increasingly frustrating...

I had this problem initially, it can be tricky on some machines and one of the most popular reasons is a shortage of space. 20Gb minimum required for the upgrade. There's also plenty of geeky stuff on you tube for these type of errors.

I've tried numerous browsers and PC and laptop both identical, however neither are a raw version of 10 they were formatted, installed 7 and then upgraded. The problem appears on a y button at any time and perhaps the worst issue is when one is trying to type in for instance in the notes area or any of the layout cells. I have to hold the keys down for an inordinate amount of time and sometimes they are simply ignored.

Hope this helps.

Feel your frustration Corey almost impossible to solve an issue that does not manifest itself on a global basis.

Not happy that you are experiencing the same issues, but relieved it's not just me

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand, I've used the marquee for scrolling but could you please give me an example perhaps of how to make the 'Buy-In' Flash or something similar in context. Thanks.

If I hold the mouse button down each command eventually appears to work, but obviously this takes some time and similarly with the keystrokes, it's impossible to type anything at normal speed. Bit of an odd one I guess.

My system was clean as a whistle and these changes made it vulnerable.

They appeared within a couple of hours after the changes and having worked with computers for 30 years I always employ the principle that the last change induces the latest problem it stands to reason that IE is the cause.

Irrespective of this the changes made no difference to the TD environment, so the problem is not resolved and is increasingly frustrating.

I have replicated my PC on a laptop and have the same issues but on another laptop with Windows 7 there is no such latency.
