Help Me / renaming a league
« on: December 14, 2006, 05:12:34 PM »
Anybody know what happens when you rename a league?

Do you need to go back and change the associated league for any completed tourneys for that league/season?

Help Me / points problem
« on: November 27, 2006, 12:44:08 PM »
O.K., unusual problem.

Here is my "points for playing" formula: (n-r+2) + if( r= 1,3,0) + if(r = 2,2,0) + if(r = 3,1,0) - nr - 0.5*na + 0.5*nh

Essentially, start with 2 points, 1 extra point for each step up the ladder, top 3 places get 3, 2, and 1 extra points.  lose a point for rebuy, lose 0.5 points for add-on, gain 1 point for each hit.

When I test this for my first place finisher who had 5 hits (11 players) it appropriately spits out 17.5 points.

On the player rankings page it gives him 37.5 points.

2nd place person got 27.5 points, 3rd place got 23.5 (also wrong, should both have 13.5 points [2nd place had 1 hit, 3rd had 5]).  Again, the test button for these people works as it should.

everybody else got the correct points.

What is going on?

Suggestions / penalty timer
« on: November 19, 2006, 09:24:17 PM »
O.K., a very minor feature request (for version 4  :)).

How about a "penalty timer".  Same as hand timer, but one you can set for a different time (say 5 minutes or 10 minutes) that would run in the background and then play a sound when the penalty time was over.  I would think the program would only need one, but maybe if one was running for one person, you could have a second start for someone else if necessary (I will never run tourneys that big!).

I actually haven't had a reason to penalize someone yet, but have a time penalty noted in my house rules, always figured I would just use my watch timer.  Have given a warning before.

And how convenient . . . the "P" hotkey isn't taken yet  ;D

Help Me / displaying points during tourney
« on: November 12, 2006, 09:25:14 AM »
Trying to set up a rankings page (don't want to use the system player rank page because I want to add blinds to the screen).

I can set up a rankings cell, but I would like to display as well the points people were awarded based on my points for playing formula.

I know that the "rankings" token does not display points, but can I make a cell that would show the points for a player (maybe I could line it up with the columns and rows of the rankings token).

Thanks.

(I assume there is no way to stick the system player rank page within a cell?!?!  that would be nice, since it would then scroll the players as well - feature request!).

Help Me / timeout values (no seconds?)
« on: November 12, 2006, 09:17:34 AM »
Is there a way to display the timeout without the seconds?  Just trying to make a rankings screen look less cluttered.  Thanks.

(actually, is there some reference in the help section that describes all the tokens and what values they may take?  Only way I can remember what tokens are even available is to click on the "insert token" button for a cell so that I can see the list and look at the popup for what the token represents, but I still need to "add token" before I get the options popup - so I guess I am requesting that a "working with tokens" section be added to the help file  :)).

Help Me / table name character limit
« on: November 11, 2006, 09:12:31 PM »
Just wondering if there was a way around the table name character limit.

Rather than numbers I would prefer to list them by description (Green Oval Table, Brown Round Table, Brown oval table, etc).

I know that I could just use Green Oval or shorten it in some other manner, but just wondering if I am missing something in regards to how to name the table.

If I use numbers then people are just always asking which table is #1?

Templates, Layouts and Sounds / sound problem with slow computer
« on: November 07, 2006, 09:09:32 PM »
O.K., here is an odd one,

As stated in my last post, I have an old/slow laptop that I run TD on. (600mghz, 256 ram).

Well, things run rather slowly on this middle aged laptop, but for the most part TD runs just fine.

As is known with TD, if you run it on a slow machine, the round timer clock will keep the correct time, but the screen time shown can't always keep up with the system clock, so every once in a while (say 4 or 5 times a minute), the display time will skip a second or 2 to catch up with the system time.

Not a problem, we only really need to know about where we are in the round and when it ends.

Thing I have noticed though is that some of my sound events don't play, and I think I have tracked it down to a sound not occuring because the TD clock never hits a certain time because it is skipping the second it is supposed to occur.

Example.  I have a "ring" that is supposed to occur at 5 seconds before the end of a round or break.  This is to let me know the round is about to change - important as the dealer.  Well, every once in a while, the 5-second ring just doesn't happen.

I have run it through that time frame a few times and when the display clock hits 5 seconds left it DOES play the sound.  If the display skips 5 seconds then it DOESN't play the sound.

I am not sure if this is coincidence or not.  Maybe Corey knows what the sound events are keyed to.

Anyone else with slow computers run into this?  Any good solutions?

I suppose that I could just set the ring to occur a few times during the last 10 seconds and I am bound to hear a couple.

Templates, Layouts and Sounds / regular sound for when the clock is paused?
« on: November 07, 2006, 09:01:13 PM »
O.K., I usually act as full time dealer for my tournaments.

I have a rather old/slow laptop that I run TD on and some operations (such as busting out a player, or rebuying, etc) can take a bit of time as I wait for the screens to pop-up.

So, I will sometimes pause the clock when I have an interruption (rule query or problem) or when I do some computer manipulations.

Well, I don't always remember to restart the clock.  Usually someone lets me know, but sometime they don't see it and I don't see it.

I know that I can just change the time with some guestimate of how much time has transpired.

But is there any way to have a sound occur regularly, say every 10 seconds, when I have the clock paused?

Something short of playing a really looooong sound file that just has an intermittent beep every 10 seconds or so (This would slow things down further because playing a large sound file seems to bog down the system even more).

Suggestions / printable help file?
« on: October 25, 2006, 05:23:20 PM »
Is the documentation available in a format other than html?

Sometimes I like to print out a small section to read (say while getting ready for sleep - how sick is that) and it can be pretty hard to print out info from the help file.

Is a pdf of the help available?  Something where you could print out a couple pages at a time.

I guess somehow I could convert the whole documentation to a txt file or something and then print what I want but someone must have a better idea than this.

Templates, Layouts and Sounds / league points scheme
« on: October 21, 2006, 10:13:02 PM »
Anyone have a good generic league points scheme to share.

About 15 people in the league - will only meet 5-6 times.  Only about 10-11 people will play any given session.

Just don't want to recreate the wheel.

Help Me / Rounding of prizes and "leftovers"
« on: March 21, 2006, 11:51:42 AM »
Trying to figure out what to do with rounding of prizes and leftovers.

Theoretical prize stucture of 50%, 30%, 20%,

Lets say 10 players with $5 buy-in with $3 rebuy.  1 person rebuys. so pot is $53.

I can't really round the prizes without either have a $2 leftover or being short a buck.

Is the best way to handle this to have the prizes always rounded down and then "share the pot" for just one of the prizes (say 1st place) so any leftover goes to first place (or whatever place)?

It seems like you can't really share the leftover between multiple positions because then you may end up with non-rounded prizes (if you have $1 left over and that is shared between 2 prizes (say 1st and 2nd), then the prizes for those 2 positions ends up increasing by 50 cents even though rounding is in place).

Help Me / column properties
« on: February 27, 2006, 10:44:53 AM »
When I select a column and right click to get "column properties" it gives me the option to add a border around a column.  So I click that I want say a bottom border, define the color and width and click "apply".

The border properties don't seem to stick.  I do not get a border and if I right click on that column properties again it does not list my previous selections.

Any help here?

Help Me / screen set help
« on: February 27, 2006, 10:41:03 AM »
O.K., I am sure I am missing something in one of the settings boxes, but here is my problem.

I have screen sets (set up in this order) for:
Default (have to have this)
Pre-tourney
Rebuy period
After rebuy period
Post tourney

I have it set up so that the conditions are set for the rebuy period screen set:
-any stage
-rebuys allowed (yes)
-rebuys over (no)
-add ons allowed (yes)
-add ons over (no)

This one shows up fine.  Then after round 4 when I have it defined in the game that rebuys and add ons are no longer allowed I want it to move to the "after rebuy period" screen set.

So I have the "after rebuy period" screen set conditions set to:
-any stage
-rebuys allowed (no)
-rebuys over (yes)
-add ons allowed (no)
-add ons over (yes)

But, after round 4, it doesn't go to this screen set, but just goes to the default screen set.

Anyone see what I am missing here?

Help Me / Moving players
« on: February 21, 2006, 08:25:47 AM »
How do you move players manually on a full table?  I know that you can drag and drop players if a table is not full (with a little rearranging - move #1 player into an empty seat, move #2 player into #1 seat, then move previous #1 player into the now empty #2 seat).  But, if a table is full, the only way I can figure out how to do it is to edit the table to add an extra seat temporarily (say from 10 seats to 11), do my re-arranging, then re-edit the table back to 10 seats.

Any other ways?

It would be nice if I could say right click on a player and say that I want him in seat 2, then this might shift everbody up a seat and if need be I could then right click on person that was in 2 and shift him to 10 - just saves editing a table twice.

Suggestions / rebuy or add-on, not both
« on: February 16, 2006, 05:16:15 AM »
I don't think this is currently possible in version 2 (correct me if I am wrong and just don't see the setting).

It would be nice to have a game setting that does not allow an add-on for someone who has already done a rebuy.

I like to run a tourney where you can add-on only if you have not done a rebuy (or vice versa).  So you get one rebuy OR one add-on.

I know I can just state this as a rule, but I can't always remember who rebought or added on.
