Title: 2.5.8 User account control issue
Post by: Radium on March 26, 2009, 04:27:54 AM
Hi Corey

I just reinstalled TD using the latest release cause it wouldn't load my database from a backup, Anyways I got that sorted but now the new version put's the little windows sheild(admin rights) on the TD icon and UAC pops up everytime I start the program.

Any ideas to how I can resolve this?

Thanks Radium

It isn't something that needs to be resolved.  The Tournament Director needs admin privileges to properly install the Common Dialog control, which is used to display load/save dialogs, as well as font and color dialogs.  So, unfortunately, that means you have to confirm privilege escalation each time you start up the software.

I tried to figure out a way to avoid this, and frankly, moving to the data store model actually removed one of the reasons for needed elevated privileges.  Unfortunately, working around some of the issues Microsoft has created lately for the common dialog control requires elevated privileges...
