Random prize using random player selection
« on: October 07, 2015, 05:09:57 PM »
Hello and thank you for a Fantastic product and any help you can offer with questions.

I run a 30 man house game and would like to give out random prizes. I have two different door prizes to give away per tournament. Ideally I would like the prize to trigger when the first and fith person are knocked out. I would be ok with the trigger being a timed thing as well, 20 minutes and 45 minutes into the game. I would like to get the screen to flash and a message to appear saying "Jim B won door prize 1" or whatever. My goal here is to let most of the players see the prize be given out and not wait until many players have already left to announce it.

Right now I can only get it to reveal the name when that player busts out. In addition the reveal is only revealed if I look at the prize page after each bust out. There is no type of announcement made.

Again great product, you have taken our home poker game to a whole new level.

Thank you,

Shawn

Prizes are always triggered by bust-outs, and random prizes aren't triggered by any specific bust-out or any specific time.  So, to have the random prizes awarded at a specific time or specific bust-out, you'll probably need to create the prizes with the Recipient set to "Manual", and then use the "Random Player" button on the Players tab to randomly choose a player.  You'll then need to edit the prize and select the player in the Override section to award it to the randomly chosen player.

To announce the prize you'll have to display an ad-hoc message.  From the Controls tab press the "Display Message" button.  Problem here is that, since the message wasn't triggered by a specific event, there's no contextual information, so you'll have to enter the message completely by hand - meaning you can't put something in like <name> to display the recipient's name, or <winnings> to display how much the prize is worth, etc.  You'll just have to enter the message exactly as you want it to appear.
