Templates, Layouts and Sounds / Re: html layouts
« on: September 05, 2013, 04:51:05 PM »
Thanks for the insights and guidance Corey.  I will pull out the html from the minimalist layout and see if I can work with it in my application.  I had never even heard of standards vs. quirks modes, so that probably tells you a little something about how informed I am on this stuff.  Haha.

I will probably try to play around with a layout this weekend to see how far I can get.  I will post an update here if I run into any challenges or if I actually succeed at getting it to work.

Thanks.  :D

Templates, Layouts and Sounds / html layouts

Has anyone started working with html layouts for TD?  I started trying to mess with them using a website development program, but it didn't seem to work properly when trying to open as a file within a new TD layout.  In my case, I have Serif WebPlus X6 and have used it for a lot of website development in the last few years.  That said, it is mostly WYSIWYG and I'm certainly not an html guru....which may be the reason for things seeming difficult.  What I'd really like to do is just create a screen layout visually and get all the graphic elements placed just right followed by adding place holders and correct formatting for the tokens in TD.  Then just open the file as a screen layout within TD.  Is this doable or do I really need to figure out how to hand code all the html???

Thanks for any comments, advise and/or examples of good html layouts for TD!

Just a quick update.  It looks like ChipTalk fixed the problem.  I was able to register as a new member today.

Thanks so much for your help in letting them know about this!

Oh wow.  That's awesome!  I hope you enjoy it.  It's pretty cool with a bunch of star trek event sounds......If you are geeky that way.  Haha.
I've never gone as far as totally "geekafying" my chips, but the thought has crossed my mind a few times.  Would love to see some pics of your chips if you haven't already posted them somewhere on here.

General Discussion / Chiptalk.net Problem?
« on: July 19, 2013, 08:57:17 AM »
Is anyone a member of chiptalk.net?  If so, would you be willing to get a message to the site administrators?

I had been a lurker on there for several years, but had never registered.  Well, I went to register a couple of days ago and discovered what I think may be a big problem with their site....

On the registration page, search pages and even pages that are intended for contacting the administrators, there is a requirement to enter a code which is provided in a "verification image".  The problem is that there is NO verification image showing.  I've tested on three computers and an ipad as well as three different browsers.  This has lead me to believe it is truly a problem with the chiptalk site rather than something on my end.

Making matters even worse, there is NO way to contact anyone there because there are no standard email addresses AND the support forum and admin emails are protected behind this anti-spam feature as well.  So, is it possible that MANY people are having the same problem who want to become members?

Anyway, if you are a member and would be willing to alert the admins to this issue I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Jim Davis

Ok...  This one is a bit over the top, but it is supposed to be.  It is an ultra futuristic space ship console type of layout that works really well with sound/event templates that include space movie themes (star trek, star wars, battlestar galactica.......).  I know not everyone will appreciate smashing poker into a sci-fi theme, but I suspect there are some out there who might get a kick out of it.  This layout will work for just a few people or many and will change the way it presents player data depending on the number of players.  There is some personal logo/text info you will need to replace, but hopefully that won't be too difficult.
The layout is optimized for 1920x1080 screen resolutions, but should be scaleable.

Screen shot and full layout file attached...

Here are a few screen shots and the template file for another layout I put together.  It will work for tourneys with just a few people or many and will act differently when there are more than 10 players in terms of fixed vs. scrolling player information.  We have used this layout with numerous different sound/event themes that range from old west stuff to futuristic and it seems to work pretty well across the board.  I have a few customized logo and text areas in the base graphics that I hope you can just paste over with your own custom logo/text.  If not, just let me know and I can strip out my stuff from the base images.

This layout is optimized for 1920x1080 screen resolutions, but should be scaleable.

I've attached a couple of screen shots and the full layout export.

Ok.  I'm attaching the layout and a couple of slightly updated screen shots.  I exported without events or chip templates checked, but it seems the export includes the chips in the .zip file anyway.  I didn't bother removing my logos from the base graphics, so anyone who wants to use this layout can just add their own graphics over the top of what I already have.  Each of the built in screens can also be adjusted to reflect your own personal or league logos/text.  Enjoy customizing for your own needs!

This layout was built for a screen resolution of 1920x1080 and should be scaleable.

Thanks for the positive response.   :D

I used a font intended to be similar to the ESPN font.  It's simply called esp.  The digital font I used is called ds_digital.  Both fonts are available free for non-commercial use at www.dafont.com.  There are thousands of font styles available there.

I will be happy to send you the tlo export of the layout if interested.  Just let me know.

That all makes a lot of sense.  I agree that there are probably a lot of pretty simple solutions for file sharing along with preview graphics out there.  If I come across something I will certainly pass along the info.

Thanks for the kind words.

Has there ever been any consideration for creating a layout sharing download area?  I mean full .tlo layouts with previews....Not just this area in the forum.  Just curious.  On a similar thought, what about a sounds/events download area?
