Suggestions / Automatic Setup and sending of TDT files
« on: December 14, 2010, 11:17:54 AM »
Cory,

I have games that run in several locations.  Each location needs to purchase a copy of TD2 and we train them on running the games and managing the software. The one thing we do ourselves is manage the player database.  The difficult thing about your software, and I was wondering if you had a "best idea" in mind for doing this, is managing database updates from my satellite sites.

Right now, its wonderful when TDs send the TDT files, then the simple "Add to Database" option opens and we can add those new players to the database. Unfortunately, some people are not --- umm -- savvy.

Is there any OTHER way you can think of to do this other than sending the TDT files?

The issues (not problems) - Managing member updates and new members from other locations and syncing the data.

Templates, Layouts and Sounds / Re: tournament export template question

Sorry for the late reply. Apparently the notification email went to my spam folder....Don't know why..

Yeah, the HTML works fine. It renders in Firefox and Chrome fine.  IE doesn't render it quite so well...I know, shocker right?

I look forward to the next stable release with these quick tweaks.

That's right. I remember having to do the overflow css before.  I'll give that a try again.  I think it's browser dependent as to whether it's rendered correctly or not.

As for the eventdate token, that would be great.

Can you also add <startingchipstack> token to the Tournament Export available tokens?

Also wondering why there isn't a token for event date?  Or is there?

Can this be done?
<playerRankingsRows = 16>

I only want to report the top 16 players.  If not, is there a way to show the top 16?

Beta Testing / Quicker Barcode Entry
« on: September 14, 2010, 11:21:01 AM »
Corry,

Anyway to make the bar code entry method faster or should I say automated?  As it is now, I can scan a barcode and it finds the player really fast but the delay happens when I have to go up to the name, check the player's name then go back to the find box.

Any thought to migrate to an actual database? Like a portable version of MySql or so something?

Might also allow for even broader expansion of the program?

When you say the database is slow to access, what do you mean?  Are you saying when you press the Find button the player list updates slowly?

Yeah, sometimes is seems to take a bit to find a player.  Now, keep in mind we have almost 3k members in our database.  We've recently gone through and cleaned out the inactive players and that has trimmed it down quite a bit and that seems to have improved it. Now we're at 1,570.

I will have to get one of those QueCat Readers to see if it works. Too bad there isn't a way for it to automatically log the player in once it scans. Well, maybe there is in the scanner software.  Like, "Scan and Enter" type of command so that you just have to ok it.

Suggestions / Custom Tokens
« on: August 17, 2010, 11:21:56 AM »
The ability to create or at least have access to all of the tokens currently in the system would be great.

Some export reports I'd like to have info on that is not currently available on "X" report.

I'd also like to create a start time token but instead of that actual start time, it uses a scheduled time.

For example, the game is scheduled to start at 7pm and that is the time I'd like on my report instead of saying we started at 7:18:39 pm

Would be cool if we could enter the location that we're playing at in a section of the database.

For example: If you're playing at one location  you can select them from a drop down and it loads a specific template, rules, banners etc.

I'm with you hoper.

My league is HUGE and my member's ID cards have a bar code on them with their ID number.  I want to be able to use my bar code scanner to simply scan players in.

I am looking at getting one of those goofy looking Cat bar code scanners to use.  I think that all you'd have to do is scan a player's ID card while placing the cursor in the FIND box. Then hit enter.

The only issue I've found so far with using "find" is that the database is slow to access.

Wow, this looks totally different than what I was coming up with.

I guess I really don't understand these formulas.

Thanks though.
