Help Me / Re: TD slowing/hanging and/or crashing
« on: October 11, 2014, 03:43:01 PM »
I'm still driving Win XP. Newest laptop is a MacBook. Sooooo... the patches do not want to cooperate and play nicely with XP apparently.  Any possibility of installing the previous version and simply continue to drive what - for me - is a SUPERB version of TD?

One more question...

I did notice that when I made the correction, it assumed the end of the game at the actual time of the correction vs. the previous end-of-game time.  Any adjustment available there, or do I just live with the 1 hour and 40 minute additional time.  No biggie - just curious.  Thanks again!

Ohhhhh... I was hitting the "S" button while "The Tournament Director Settings" window was popped-up.  The "S" button was not responding.  But as I left the pop-up window by clicking on to the Tournament button, the "S" button would then respond.   ::)

And WOW - what a quick response from you!  Do you ever sleep???

Help Me / Can I reopen the Game?
« on: February 19, 2010, 10:28:19 PM »
On the very last bustout of the Tournament, I busted out the players in reverse order - putting the 2nd place player as the winner and vice versa.

IF the game were still going, I could easily hit S, undo the Bustout, and have a do-over.  But how do I do this with the tournament in GAME OVER mode?

Help Me / Wider Seating Chart boxes
« on: October 23, 2008, 01:01:35 PM »
Is there a way to widen the Seating Chart table "boxes" displaying the names of the players?  I'm wanting to display Nickname / First Name / Last Name (a built-in option) but the names are cut off.

Or is the only way to see it all be changing to "List View"?

I'm wanting to widen the box so that the entire nick & name are visible.

Help Me / Year-End Tournament
« on: July 21, 2007, 04:50:04 PM »
Not really a software concern - just needing advice...

I'm looking ahead to my 2nd Annual Year-end Tournament (by Invitation only) for everyone who 1) finishes in the Top Ten and 2) have placed 1st or 2nd in any of the qualifying tourneys.

BUT - I want to award more chips to the higher year-end finishers.  It just doesn't seem fair that someone who qualifies "by a fluke finish" is evenly chipped with a year-long winner.

I know Poker Superstars (TV) has a formula for awarding more chips to the higher point qualifiers; anyone have a chart or formula handy?

SUGGESTIONS???

Help Me / Re: Bounty?
« on: July 21, 2007, 04:04:41 PM »
I've used Bounty's in my Tourneys both ways: Mandatory and Optional

Feedback received: Players basically liked it better when I made it mandatory (I simply moved the buy-in up to $30 from $25)

Reasoning: If a player busts-out 5 folks, but only 2 have bounty chips - it's kind of a downer.  More fun when everyone is in on the action and all are at risk.  Also - EVERYONE has an opportunity to brag that they made $$$ playing poker.

Note to above comments: You need to make it where only those who OWN a bounty chip can WIN a bounty chip, if you play it optionally.  Otherwise, you have a very serious disincentive to NOT participate as a player.

Help Me / Re: Tournament Point Suggestions
« on: December 18, 2006, 03:35:22 PM »
My point system gives more points to the top players when there is more competition (more players) and less points when the competition is less:

round(10*sqrt(n)/sqrt(r))

rounded to whole numbers; minimum points awarded: 10

Through the "TEST ALL" function, you can plug in different numbers of players and see if this is something that would be workable for you.  Rather than award points for "hits" in the formula, I now just put that in the "Game" tab, so the static numbers that you see via the "TEST ALL" may actually be different.  You can do the same thing with Rebuys and Add-ons.

i.e. - With 16 players: 1st place = 40 points; 4th place = 20 points; 16th place = 10 points.  I award 2 points for every HIT which would then be added to the static numbers.

Suggestions / Re: Seating Suggestion

Just a curiousity question: Would there be a specific reason why you wouldn't just set up 3 tables with 9, 8, 8 seats - all available vs. 3 @ 9, 9, 9 with 2 seats UN?  I guess I'm missing the logic, but more concerned I'm missin' a good insight that I might use later!  Thanks!

These formulas - and this part of the forum - has been a great help to me, and have springboarded a lot of interesting ideas.  I'd like to see several of the basic formulas compiled in the Help pages with their brief explanations of what is trying to be accomplished.  Another 2 cents worth would be: I'd like to see the HELP section on a website, so that I could search through all the pages via "Edit / Find (on this page)" function.  It would be a quick way to find a specific word or phrase.  If I'm overlooking a Search function in the Help Manual, I'd like to know!  Thanks!

Help Me / Re: Hitmen when there are Rebuys
« on: October 25, 2006, 03:00:20 PM »
Understood.

But it brings me to a larger (TD-type) question: In the formula crediting process, I believe TD only credits points for a "knockout" (e.g. - only awards points if the player does not rebuy, or is beyond the buy-in period).

Is there a way - in a formula - to award points for both rebought and non-rebought "hits"?  And the stats reflecting ALL hits?

Well TD considers them ALL hits. When you hit 'X', select a hitman, then the option rebuy comes up.

Point being, a hit is a hit is a hit ;)

Not sure TD DOES consider them all hits.  I realize that when you hit "X", select a hitman and the rebuy option comes up, it appears that it would record the Hitman even if the rebuy takes place.  But my Stats show otherwise; i.e. - I have a 16 player tourney, and Stats show a collective 15 hits during the night - but including the rebuys, there were MORE than 15 hits.  So I'm thinking that TD does NOT consider "a hit is a hit is a hit".
