General Discussion / Re: Home Game version of the WSOP
« on: February 05, 2007, 02:25:46 PM »
welll this will be a family style tournament..

with kids so everything would be no money...

I was going to play all holdem events. but with limit, pot limit, and NL.

and having a rebuy tournament..  of course it will be no money so it shoudl cause some real wild play.. but shoudl be fun for the family.

also thinking have having the same blind structure but have different starting chip stacks. and from this starting chip stack it would be reference to a mock entry fee but have some kind of forumula for points.  the higher the chip stack the higher the points you get for the same ranking.

but all is skeptical....  trying to find out what forula WSOP uses.

if things fall in place I am thinking of having my own verison of the World Series of Poker during the the 2007 thanksgiving holiday. does anyone know of the forumula they use in there points standings.

Just trying to make it as close as I can.. I will be using shorter rounds and of course players so I can fit it all comfortable during that weekend. also fewer events.

Suggestions / sound event for a particular round and time
« on: October 16, 2006, 11:03:16 AM »
after my 3 round I do a food break on my tournament.

I like to play a sound at 10 minutes left on the 3rd round to help remind me to set the food out. most of the time I am concentrating in the tournament and clean forget about it and when the break happens I have to setout the food and do the chip up. so I try to set out the food early so it makes my break more enjoyable and players dont have to wait for me to set out the food before eating.

I like an option to sound an event at a particular round and time.

thank you for the consideration.

General Discussion / need help on a name for the hitman report
« on: September 22, 2006, 09:47:38 AM »
tournament director keeps tracks of the number of people a player knocks out of a tournament. I am wanting to come up with a clever and catchy name for the report.

best I can think off is the hitman report but really dont like it.

anybody have any suggestions.

Suggestions / Re: Seating people at different tables
« on: June 05, 2006, 11:50:33 AM »
I play with my wife at tournaments and never have a problem with her seating at my table.. I do fuss saying i have to behave now becuase she is in smacking range. lol

but if you are serious about keeping the couples apart, the only easy soultion is to seperate the table by gender... guys sit at one table and the girls sit at another. forget the seating the software does and draw for position at the tabel by cards or something like it.

if you have several guys that are single then sit them at random between the two tables.

I forget what the term is but play each table till it gets to the number of people you want for the final table that you dont mind couples being at the same table.

bad thing about this is you will uneven tables.

my suggestion is dont worry about seperating the couples.  if the couples dont want to play at the same table tell them to alternate who plays at the tournament for that night.

I never seen any problems with couples playing at the same table.. only thin I could see is that they feel cheated because they feel they have a less of a chance of one of them making it in the money. but they have to understand that is poker.

if the couples cheat by giving each other signals them remove them from the tournament.

Suggestions / Need add points formula ability on prizes
« on: March 27, 2006, 07:22:28 AM »
going to start my own family tournament tournament. I am using basically the same format of a poker club i belong too with a few added changes to it.

I am going to award the normal point: 1 point for playing and get a point for each perosn that is knock out of the tournament before you.

now I want to be able to award additional point for the prize money earned. I want to use the formula as: 1/entry fee * Prize *2

Currently for what this formula does is it gives 10% of the prize money award as point for a $20 entry fee.

now I am just starting out and a lot of players havent played a tournament before so I am going to begin at a $1 enrty and as they get more experienced move up the entry fee. Or maybe have a once in a while a higher entry fee.  However using the 10% of the prize money and having a variable enrty would give the winner of the higher prize money  more points.  so this forumula gives the same points for a $1 entry fee or for a $100 entry fee. I feel this is more fair for how I am going to run my tournaments.

and if there was a formula it woudl remove one of the things as tournament director to do.

thank you for the consideration
