Copying a tournament from one PC to another
« on: March 07, 2006, 08:21:45 AM »
I am planning on doing the design work on my tournament, including screens, sounds and images, on my home desktop and then taking my tournament with me on my laptop to my friend's house.  Should I just copy the entire folder from my desktop where it is installed or can I get away with copying a few files (like the saved tournaments and database)?

Any suggestions would be helpful!

Thanks.

Depends on a few things.  Are you utilizing the database for players?  Then yes, you'll want to copy the "db" folder.  If you're using custom sounds, you'll want to copy the sound files.  If you're using custom images in your layout, you'll want to make sure you copy those images to the same location on your laptop.  And of course, make sure you copy the tournament.

Finally, don't forget that your preferences might be different on the laptop.  You can copy the "prefs.sav" file if you want to take those as well.

I am pretty sure you can get everything by copying 3 things:
The tournament save file  (.tdt)
The DB folder
The prefs file

copying the .tdt file will get you basically the whole tournament except the database.

And remember to include whatever custom graphics or sound files you used
