Lets use this topic as a place for people to post their custom logo's and also for discussion, tips and tricks for building logo's.
Here is my logo made with Photoshop using layering techniques and blending options.

Here's the logos I've created over the years for the Oregon Poker Tour. Note, that's not the State of Oregon; it's the City of Oregon in Ohio ;)
These are simple enough: I used photoshop and they took me around 10 minutes total after fooling around with options. As you can see, in 2005 I added the year simply because it was clear we had become a poker league after a full year of playing.

Heres The logo I just made for my league, let me know what you think.

New to site, just downloaded the software looks great. I am starting a league in June of this year and I am pretty sure I convinced everyone we need this program. Here is a header I will eventually put on my website and trying to create a real logo for our table. I barely know how to use paint let alone photoshop. This one is OK, I hate the text. Can't seem to get it to look the way I want. Anybody have ideas for better font or anything, even a logo?
Now that I look at it I really don't like it much...

Hey everyone, I just got Photoshop 7.0 and it turns out I am completely photoshop illiterate. i would like to create a logo with something showing the 4 ace cards and the name Four Aces Poker, and our motto "Can you beat Four Aces?" on it as well. I would love to have some pointers or if it was really easy, maybe someone can put something together for me and send it, perhaps? I find that it is easier to go back and see how it was done rather than start from scratch. For me, it is easier. I can see what the person has done and then I can put something together using that as sort of a "template". any help would be appreciated. thanks.
-
Photoshop, while a great program, has a really steep learning curve. The best way to learn it is by fiddling around a bit and experimenting.
That being said, check out the website that I just put together for our league: www.njptour.webs.com (http://www.njptour.webs.com) (I got the idea to do that from your post on websites!). If you go to the link marked "card rooms", you will see the logos that I created using Photoshop. So in return for the website lead, I'll try to put something together for you this evening and then you can get an idea on how it's done.
-
OK; here's something I put together quite easily...
(http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/7041/fouracespokerqj5.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
The .jpg image has a background, which can be used to see the dropshadows very nicely. You are somewhat limited with .jpgs; they are not able to have a transparent background.
The .gif image will allow a for a transparent background, but the dropshadows come out solid on the transparency; I eliminated the drowshadow on the "poker" banner, as well as the lower text. One should take this into account when making up a logo.
I have the master Photoshop file if you would like me to email it to you.
-
Scotty K you are the man! love your website btw. yes, i would like the master file. you can email it to fouracespoker@yahoo.com
once again thank you
-
It's on the way....you should have it by now.
Enjoy!
-
Thanks Scotty, I saved it to my computer this morning before I headed out the door to work. I plan on getting to it when I get home! Really appreciate it! :D Good luck with your tournaments!
-
Scotty K,
That's a great job. I like how you put that together over night.
Once again, Great job.
If I did that, it would take me more than day.
-
Thanks so much for the kind words. I've actually been using Photoshop quite a bit recently, so moving around within the program gets easier and easier, thus I'm able to get something done a lot more quickly. I actually have quite a bit of fun trying to come up with logo ideas for the various places that we play.
That being said, I thought that, given the name of the original thread, it was high time that I put up some of the logos that I have designed. One of the first things I ever did in Photoshop was our league logo (yes, I know what it looks like, but it was intended to be a knockoff!), then one by one, as we started to play at different venues, I made a logo whenever we went somewhere new. Everyone always looks forward to seeing what I come up with.
-
pretty cool logos! i had about an hour or so yesterday to fiddle around with the logo you sent to me, and changed a couple things around to how i would make it more my own. changed the font and size on four aces, background color changed slightly, although i am a little ways off in getting a really good idea of what to actually use. I am hoping to get a good solid logo set by the first of the year, just in time for the kickoff of our 2nd season. I saved the original one you made, scotty, so i have something to go off of. hopefully this weekend i have a few hours or so to get down and serious with this program (the manual is huge!). once again thanks!
EDIT: ScottyK, here is the slighty modified version. it was a huge hit at our main event!

I just saw this now; nice job on the edits...I like it!
Be careful, though. This logo design stuff can become quite addictive.

Scotty, thanks again for the photoshop logo. I submitted it to this company that will put it on awards. the only problem now is they want it in a black and white form only. Can you or anyone help me out again on this one? I tried to convert it to B&W but it came out nowhere close to what they wanted! let me know i can also send the email reply from them specifying what they want. my email is FourAcesPoker@yahoo.com. thanks

-
Hi here is my leagues logo, what you think?
-
I think it's too busy for a logo.
Remember, your logo will be your branding everywhere.. T-Shirts, Caps, Website, Trophies etc.
Keep It Simple.
Below is our logo.. yes it uses the famous Vegas theme, but that works for us.
-
the logo that i posted is only for the website and for banners, we have another one specialy done for our t shirts caps and clothing items. ill try and upload that one when i get a chance. our first regional final is tommorrow so i have to get ready for it lol
-
Branding is everything. You need to be consistant with your logos. Good luck with the finals too.
-
Finally got it

I actually downloaded Illustrator and Photoshop and just searched for tutorials and learned a lot just playing around with them. I'm trying right now to learn After effects so I can do something like this:
