Title: Next version (post 2.2.2) status
Post by: Corey Cooper on February 23, 2007, 09:04:28 PM
Since I've gotten a few inquiries, I thought I'd update everyone one what's going on for the next version.  The biggest effort was making the software translatable, and this took several months of coding.  Now that it is finished, I've started on new features.  I have to say, adding features is a lot more fun than internationalizing the software...

Here's a short list of what has already been added:

No promises on what else will go in or how much more... I pretty much re-evaluate the to-do list every day that I code.

Whoo Hoo!

I would be happy to test out the best version when available  :)

I hope that the "next round" (<ctrl N> type thing I assume) and "previous round" confirmation before preceeding will be optional configuration.  I skip around the rounds willy nilly when either testing out layouts or in tourneys when I need to make an adjustment (need to speed up tourney so I just skip a round say).  Would hate to have to confirm every time I did this (although I see the utility of it in some instances possibly).

Looks like great feature additions.  thanks Corey

I am a bit dissapointed it doesnt make the tea during the break  ;)

I am in favor of adding the making-of-tea-during-break feature (coffee also please, no mocha skim latte feature needed at this time).

Would hope for that option of not including seconds in the "time out" field for player rankings (or wherever).  Just trying to save myself some space on those screens, but understand if that has to wait for future versions.

Awesome. Just awesome. In this age of shoddy software it is a pleasure to run a highly functional program. We have been using TD for all of our events for almost 2 years now, best software I ever registered. Thanks for the continued updates...

PS. Skip the tea & coffee feature, if it could fetch me a beer between rounds that would be brilliant.

Why do you tease us like this?  Now i can't sleep at nights thinking about all the cool stuff i can add to my layouts.  Oh well, only a few more sleepless weeks of waiting.  Better than a few months i guess.

Sorry.  :-)  It's just been a while since the last release and I didn't want you guys thinking nothing was happening with the software.

tandemrx: I did not add a preference for the "confirm on manual round changes".  I've had it in my development version for a while now, and believe me, I do a lot of the same thing you do.  Honestly it hasn't been much of a hassle, especially since you can confirm with just another quick keystroke.  I added this as a "better safe than sorry" feature.  Manually advancing (or retreating?) the round is undo-able in the sense that you can go right back to the previous (or next) round, but if no one was paying attention to the clock, you can't go back to the correct time left in that round.  And even though it isn't drastic, it could be painful if someone accidentally presses the wrong hotkey (or a button on the screen) and advances the round.  Just better to have a confirmation.

I don't see it as a huge hassle either but have an idea that might make it less painfull.  Why not, (rather than have a pop-up confirmation box you have to move the mouse to and click OK on), just make it so you click on the NEXT ROUND button twice.  Or use the Hot Key twice.  You could still have a pop-up box asking to confirm with a OK button, but allow confirmation by also just clicking the Next Round button again.  This way you can quickly double click the button when you want to change rounds without needing to move the mouse to center screen or where ever the Box will be to click the OK button.  Just an idea.

Can we get a rake option for bounties?  And an option to not pay the winner of the tourny for his kept bounty?
Just a couple options i would like to use to collect a bounty pool for a prize on the winners head for next game.
Not a biggy, i can do it manually.

The confirmation dialog is "Yes" / "No" dialog, and hotkeys work for these dialogs as well.  So when you press CTRL+N or CTRL+P for Next Round or Previous Round, a Yes/No dialog pops up, and you can just press Y or N.  No need to fumble with the mouse.

When do you anticipate this being available? Are you still looking for people to test?

Depends on when I decide to stop adding features.   :)

Given the amount of change in the code, I will definitely post it here for anyone to beta test.

Beta is a testing phase that software sometimes goes to before release.

It's issued to a set of end users, and they're asked to use it in the way they normally would. Generally, as far as the developer is concerned the software is virtually finished at this point, so it's a way of finding any last minute bugs before it gets officially released to the masses.

I just registered on the site today and would like to get the latest version of the software.  If I download the software now, will I have to buy it again when you release this latest version?  By the way, this is a great site and from what I've read thus far, it sounds like everyone is extremely happy with the software.
