Names verses Nicknames
« on: October 27, 2006, 12:39:11 PM »
I have read through the documents and have found a lot of useful information. One thing I can not find is how to only use nicknames and for the ones that do not have one, how to use just the first name.  I am working on exporting some of the files to our website and several members do not want their full names on the web.  I do keep both names, because I use the database for email and mailing list.

I hope someone can help.

Can you just use nicknames for everyone?  For those who don't mind their full name to be used, make their nickname the same as their full name.  This way you can just export nicknames and everyone should get what they wanted.

I did not think of it that way, worth a try.  Thanks for your input

On the Preferences tab, press the Name Format button.  There might be a format there that will work for you.  If not, I suggest doing what OO7Ian suggested: enter the player's first name in the nickname field if they don't have a nickname.
