Beta Testing / Re: 3.4 beta 2
« on: July 01, 2016, 01:52:37 PM »
Hi Corey.
The Main Window looks great! (compared to the main window in previous versions).
I had a few ideas in mind before I stopped working in poker and I'll run them by you.
Towards the end of my poker career I was going to suggest allowing a way for players to leave a deposit on tournaments. While at Playground Poker Club we had several tournaments where the buy-in was over $3000 and $5000. We allowed people to make payments on the tournament and kept a spreadsheet for this. I was hoping, one day, TD would be able to do this as well. At the club we had one computer running our tournaments and always had a laptop at the tourney desk with TD running just in case. If TD would allow players to leave deposits on a tournament we could keep the laptop running the major tourney and enter in amounts. With the current version there is kind of a workaround. I am able to use a rebuy or an add-on to achieve this. I override the rebuy or add-on amount to reflect a theoretical payment and the amount paid shows up on the Players Tab. Then I came across an issue with what I tried to do. The receipts don't print any rebuy or add-on information purchased at the time of buy-in. So I was unable to print the amount paid to date. If possible,  a menu when right-clicking that would print player information (table/seat, buy-in, rebuy, add-on info). We had tournaments where players could purchase an initial add-on or rebuy before the start of the tournament and being able to sell this at the tournament counter would offer a bit more control over the number of add-ons/rebuys purchased. Or dealers would also handle less money at the table (the player could give the receipt and give the chips for add-ons/rebuys if it is shown on the receipt).
I'll be back when I explore the beta version a bit deeper!

I think I'll install my TD and start playing around with it again. I haven't run a tournament in a few years and haven't played either but I enjoyed working with TD. I'll do the beta this weekend and take some time to familiarize myself with it again and hopefully get active on the forums again!

Help Me / Re: 2 instances
« on: May 10, 2014, 10:36:17 PM »
both instances were fully functional, with game and settings window. i killed one through the task manager and the other instance ran smooth. i tried running a second instance again and TD reacted normally, refusing to open a second.

Running W8 just after start-up, TD3 was running twice. 2 instances. I screen capped my Task Manager. I shut everything down and tried to reproduce, no luck.

Hi Steve,
if you have formatted your hard drive and not backed up your TD data I have some bad news for you. The data is gone.

Hi mm,
in which way did your computer fail? if your hard drive did not fail it is very easy to retrieve all your data from the H/D. If your H/D is still okay I can recommend a very quick way of retrieving your data.
Visit the website I will link to below (from a working computer) and download and burn the disk image to a dvd or USB key. boot your computer with the dvd or usb key and select trial. this will run ubuntu (a flavor of linux). from there you can browse to your hard drive and copy the data store to a usb key.

hope this helps
Jody

Here;
create a folder in your templates folder and name it 'regular' (without the quotation marks)
extract the audio folder in it.

extract the 550.trt into your templates folder. Load up the 550.trt from your Rounds Tab, Load up the GENERIC.tst into your events tab. Start a tournament and set the rounds to 2 minutes and watch the events fire

if you are going to use the TEST button you must set up the test conditions available on the bottom of the screen. enter the variables that would trigger an event then hit the test button.

Hi ck,
I have created an events template some time back and have programmed my TD to call out the actual blind bets at each level (and the antes as well). It was a pain...Here is the tst file. Save this tst file in your templtes folder, go to the events tab, load template then find GENERIC.tst. You can see how the formulas are written level by level (including breaks).
If you have any other questions don't hesitate.

HI CK.

I have been absent to TD for several months so I will work from memory.
From the Events Tab create your sound library (left pane).
Select New Event from the buttons along the left then Create from scratch.

From here write a description of your event then we have to set conditions. As an example;

(state=1) and (secondsLeft=71)
Here (state=1) would indicate pre-tournament (countdown)
(secondsLeft=71) would indicate 71 seconds left until the countdown reaches 0

There us a full list of conditions under the Help tab.

Once your conditions are set, set the actions associated in the bottom of the window.

Help Me / Stats on layout
« on: December 01, 2013, 03:31:25 PM »
Hi Corey and all,
I haven't been around TD for several months now and am seeing a lot of great changes. I was ready to do a big job displaying stats on the screen (using an older method) of exporting to HTML, modifying and linking a cell to the html file. Going through the tokens I see a stats token that does just this!

I am making a layout for a friend who has requested stats listed in vertical order fro 1st - 10th in a cell on the left of the screen and another cell with stats on the right of the screen listing 11th to 20th. Is there something in TD somewhere that could allow me to display stats from a certain rank to a certain rank?

As well, when I create a cell with the Stats token the background is white instead of being transparent (i changed it to transparent in as many places as i could find that could affect this cell to no avail)

Help Me / Re: BuyIn with 2 Pc's
« on: November 08, 2013, 05:52:45 PM »
it isn't efficient.
here is my recommendation (keep in mind the 2 laptop must be close so that the 2 people can communicate).

1 - Set up TD on a desktop with a decent graphic card. one of the outputs will be to a monitor and the other will be to a splitter. From the splitter you can hook up many splitters or just the 2 screens you speak of. using many splitters will require you to add a booster.

2 - Set up the desktop with a VNC server. TeamViewer or TightVNC are both free and work very well.
3 - Install the same VNC software into each laptop.

Both laptops will connect to the desktop via VNC. Only one person can enter information at a time however using this method, when both laptop users time their own work, it can accelerate the buy-in period.

I used this system once and for the most part it worked well, but when one of my employees decided they wanted work differently it screwed things up.

Another option;
Use only one laptop for registration. This laptop will accept only players that are currently in the database. The second laptop will be responsible for entering new players. To do so you must create a new data store on the second laptop and set the db folder to the one on the first laptop. The first laptop will have to refresh the DB when a player has just entered their info in the DB. This will make entering players into the tourney faster because there isn't any info to enter for the player.

If you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask :)

General Discussion / Hi all
« on: October 03, 2013, 11:09:38 PM »
Sorry I haven't been around for a while. I have started a new job in another field of gambling while waiting for my new club to pass legal hurdles. My new job is occupying a better part of 70+ hours per week right now leaving me no time to participate here. I haven't played or run a tounament for several months now and I miss it beyond belief.

Hope to be back here soon regularly...
