SOUND FILES / FORMULAS / HELP
« on: July 03, 2009, 07:11:54 PM »
Only just downloaded the software tonight & first impressions are it's great if you want to use it for the simple things.... I've played in a few casinos where the blinds etc are done via sound files on similar programmes so I thought I would give it a go. I'm now the best part of 8 hours later & im no further forward (just about pulled all my hair out).... I've been through the help files countless times & everything formula related appears to be pointing to points rather than sounds. I've been through the forum and although there is plenty of messages relating to sounds im unable to find formulas i can copy and paste that actually do what i want.

Computer language is double dutch to me & from most of the posts you have to have a fairly reasonable understanding of it. Surely there must be a list of formulas somewhere i can just use rather than having to make my own up . I'm trying to do some pretty basic stuff but im not a computer programmer......  I see a lot mentioned about ease of use & TBH I have to agree as far as putting sounds against specific times in specific blind levels ist almost impossible.... & when you get close & hit a problem it knocks all the files off !!!  A nice simple box to select which blind level we want which sound file to play in & at which time would be nice ?????

I'm trying to run sound files

an end of level - 60 secs to go in blind level, 3,2,1 (4 sound files)
a start of level - blinds are now up, 100-200 (2 sound files)
and end of level - 60 secs to go in blind level, 3,2,1 (4 sound files)
a start of level - blinds are now up, 200-400 (2 sound files)
etc etc
With you are now on a 10 minute break for both the breaks with a 60 return to your table warning at the end..... (2 sound files)

I cant seem to differentiate between blind levels and breaks & i dont have a clue what iisround or breaknum etc means let alone why every formula i try is either false or gives an error... and that includes some of the preset ones ???????

"isRound and roundNum = 1" tried this & it gave an error everytime - HELP PLEASE BEFORE THE LAPTOP GOES OUT THE WINDOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The event configuration is definitely complicated - this is the trade-off for them being as flexible as they are.  I'll grant you there needs to be a wizard that makes creating basic events easier.  If only I could get the time to get that done...

By the way, I can't imagine why you'd get an error with "isRound and roundNum = 1".  That works just fine.

The reason you're probably getting FALSE when you test your formula is that is what the formula evaluates to given the values you've defined in the Test Conditions panel.

As an easy example, if your Conditions formula is:

isRound and roundNum = 1

This will evaluate to FALSE if "isRound" is 0 (false) or roundNum is any value other than 1.  Those variables are automatically set with their appropriate values when the tournament is running.  So, the formula would evaluate to 1 (true) when the tournament is currently in a round (not a break) and it is round number 1.  For testing purposes, you set those values in the Conditions Test panel to see how your formula will evaluate.  Set isRound to 1 and roundNum to 1 in the test panel and you'll see the formula evaluate to TRUE.

Hi guys, I've been using this type of sound format for around 18 months on our local league. It was a mare to set up.

It announces the tourney countdown (15 imns to go 10 mins 5 mins) then the tourney start with round num and bliinds. It also announces the breaks and the countdowns to the end fo the tourney. This si for a 16 round tourney over four hours with blinds startign at 25-50- and ending at 2000-4000. At the end a gong also goes off.

The voices are computer generated and can be modified or recreated at http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php

Obviously you may need to alter Corey's code in my set up if you want different rounds structures and change the event times etc, but at least it will give you a good grounding and a very good start.

If anyone wants me to email this let me know where.

Regards

John

Maybe you can attach it here?

What happens if the tournament isn't finished when the gong goes off? Just curious.

If you could email it to ryan@ryanconaghan.com mate that would be fantastic.

I'm starting to get a better hang of the software now but there are still a few sound issues. I think once I get it all set up it should run like a dream....its just getting there that will be fun :)
