Wait a sec...I ran through it again without quiting TD, and this time it came up on the main screen.  Not sure why it was different this time, but it worked.  Thanks!

Unfortunately, that doesn't do it.  For example, when I load a saved tournament, the "Tournament Loaded" dialog opens on the extended display.  Doesn't matter how many times I drag it back to the main display.  It always appears over there.

So I did what you recommended, then started TD, loaded a saved tourney, and no dialog.  I click on the tourney setting screens and get the "bonk" because it is waiting for me to click OK.  I turned extended display back on and there it is, floating on that second screen.

Help Me / Switching from two monitors back to one
« on: April 13, 2010, 01:34:22 PM »
I normally play with my laptop screen and an LCD monitor using the extended display.  A friend was holding a tournament and I decided to just take my laptop and do everything on that screen.  When I tried to buy-in the players, the buy-in dialog box wouldn't appear.

It apparently opened on the LCD screen which wasn't connected.  I could not figure out how to force the dialogs to the LCD screen.  Rebooted, tried cascading all windows, but nothing worked.  I couldn't run the tournament with TD.  When I got home I plugged in my LCD, and there was the dialog, right where I left it.

Sort of a hassle to open every dialog in TD to make sure you have them all opening on the right screen.  Is there a way to force all dialogs and other windows to the main screen if they open on the non-existent extended monitor?

Help Me / Re: Bounty Payouts

Of course.  Makes perfect sense.  If you want to customize TD, it really pays to go through every option on every tab.

Thanks.

I like it!  Big and clear.  Can you post the layout file?

You will need a graphics application to do this, like Paintshop Pro, Photoshop, Microsoft Office Publisher, etc.  How to do that will depend on which program you have.  I suggest you take a look at what programs you have and then Google "make image background transparent" and the program you own and see what you find.

Help Me / Bounty Payouts
« on: September 30, 2009, 09:43:00 AM »
I have a tournament setup to require a $5 bounty for each player.  I ran a test and it showed four players bought the $5 bounty.  I knocked out each player, indicating who the hitman was for each bust out.  At the end of the tourney, the prizes tab shows the money won in the main prize pool, but doesn't show the bounty payouts.  The summary tab shows the bounties collected, but not a breakdown of who won the bounty money.  Are the details of the bounty payouts tracked by TD?

Help Me / Re: Tournament Director Suggests Odd Blind Structure
« on: September 29, 2009, 02:58:05 PM »
Corey,
Thanks for the reply.  I would suggest this as a really good upgrade for the future.  If you haven't already, check out http://blindvalet.fr/.  It works really well.  There must be a formula being used there that produces more of a curved increase in blinds, instead of the linear increase in TD now.  Seem like a solvable algebraic problem, but algebra is too far in my past.

In the meantime, I'll check out the supplied schedules.  Maybe I'm trying to over-engineer the blinds, and a few preset structures will do me.  I like Blind Valet, though, in that it handles the variables very well.

Good app otherwise, though.

Thanks,
Ed Neely

Help Me / Tournament Director Suggests Odd Blind Structure
« on: September 28, 2009, 08:04:49 PM »
I just bought Tournament Director. The software is great, with one exception. I'm not happy with its suggested blind structure. I can set it manually, but I'd prefer to take the suggestions, if they are reasonable.

Here's an example:

    4 hour tourney
    400 chip stacks
    1, 5, 25 and 100 chips
    20 minute rounds
    10 players
    3 re-buys (during first 3 rounds only)

The first few rounds go like this:
Level Duration SB BB Start Time
     Round 1 20m $1 $2 0:00
     Round 2 20m $12 $24 0:20
     Round 3 20m $23 $46 0:40
     Round 4 20m $34 $68 1:00
     Round 5 20m $45 $90 1:20
     Round 6 20m $56 $112 1:40
     Round 7 20m $65 $130 2:00
     Round 8 20m $80 $160 2:20
     Round 9 20m $95 $190 2:40
     Round 10 20m $110 $220 3:00
     Round 11 20m $125 $250 3:20
     Round 12 20m $140 $280 3:40
And this is on the "relaxed" setting. The $1 chips are meaningless after the first round. The software appears to set up almost linear increases. This would make the first few rounds a major shove-fest. In the first three rounds, starting stacks go from 100BB to <10BB.

Am I missing something in the setup?
