Help Me / Re: program partially locked up
« on: February 13, 2010, 12:58:51 PM »
I don't know what was causing the error.  The last three times we've had a game, I've had this problem.  I just tried it again, and it is saving just fine.  Of course, we don't have a game today!  :-[

Corey -- I'm seeing the same error every time I try to save my game.  I thought maybe it was a registration thing, so I tried to re-register, but that didn't fix it.

Guess it's a request to add to the upgrade list, then.  :) Thanks Corey.

I see being able to pause the clock at the end of breaks, but not the countdown.

Help Me / Re: Bounty questions

Say I had a tournament with 12 players in it, and each player puts in $1 for a bounty.  I'd have two random bounties of $6.  I know I'd need two entries in the prize template (one for each bounty).  What would the syntax be for that prize?

Help Me / Pause when the countdown reaches zero?

Is there a way to stop the timers between the time the countdown runs down and round one starts?  We usually have a couple of minutes of getting everybody seated after the countdown ends.

Help Me / Bounty questions
« on: September 14, 2008, 08:31:55 PM »
I've read through the bounty posts and was able to answer some questions, but I still have a some questions.  These questions are based upon having random bounties:
  • Is there a way to set up prizes to calculate how much the payout for two random bounties is based upon $1 donation to the pot per player?
  • Can I include the answer to my first question as part of my automatic prizes?
  • I've got my screen layout configured to show the prizes and the winners of the prizes.  Can I configure the random prizes to see who the bounty person was, too?  In other words, instead of seeing 'Description won by player' it would say 'Hitman won the bounty on player' or, something like that?

Thanks!

Help Me / Re: PokerStars 20% prize payouts

When you save a file with Notepad, the Save dialog has a selection "Save as type", which defaults to "Text Documents (*.txt)", but also allows you to select "All Files".  Select "All Files" and it won't try to append ".txt" to the filename.

Yup - I saw that 'All Files'...and thought it was restricting me from selecting .XML -- thanks for the Windows lesson, Corey!   ;)

Edit it with Notepad.  Notepad should not force you to save it with a .TXT extension...

Thanks for the feedback.  There were two problems.  The first was I opened the autoprizes file first and then tried to do a save as, so I could change the name.  That brought up the save dialog box which would only allow a .TXT format.  The second was, when I tried to change the extension via Windows Explorer, it saw the .txt as part of the filename, not an extension change.  That was because I had the extensions hidden in Windows Explorer.

So I had two ways I could fix it:

  • In Windows Explorer, copy the autoprizes file, paste it, and then change the name
  • Turn extension on within Windows Explorer and rename the new saved file

Automatic Prizes

Configure the automaticPrizes.xml file with the prize levels that you want, and presto, it will update your prizes automatically to match the number of players in your tournament.

Question -- how should I edit an XML file?  I tried opening the automaticprizes.xml file in Notebook, but all I can save it as is a .TXT file.  I tried copying the contents of my .TXT file into a Word doc and then saving as an .XML doc.  That save fine, but when I try to change the config file list in TD, I get an error message of 'Automatic prizes file: File contains no <prizeLevels>!'.  I look at my XML file, and there is a <prizeLevels> in there.

Suggestions / Re: Sort sounds
« on: June 12, 2008, 04:40:20 PM »
What about just pre-fixing the sound names so they are sorted more to your taste?  Like, for your bust-out sounds, rename them so that they all begin with "BO-", or something like that?

Corey, that would address which sounds I intended for which events, but doesn't help in the overall management of the sounds -- because when new sounds are added they are added to the end of the list.  I've got well over 100 sounds, and as I add more, they get more difficult to track.

Help Me / Re: How to test changes without affecting season stats?
« on: June 09, 2008, 05:24:38 PM »
You can simply copy the saved tournament files from one computer to the other.  But if you have not also copied the database, you will want to make sure the players, leagues, and seasons are also in the destination PC's database.  You can do this easily, as Phaze alluded to, by loading a tournament on the destination PC.  If the tournament's league or season is not in the database, you will be prompted to import it.  Then, on the Players tab, you can press the "Add All to DB" button to add the players to the destination PC's database.  This makes sure you have the *same* leagues, seasons, and players in each database.

Thanks Corey.

Thanks Corey.  I had another though last night about the multiple computer thing.  Is there a way to move the saved tournaments from my friend's computer to mine and then get those saved tourney stats included in the league?
